I'm a 17 year old refugee from south sudan. I came to this country when I was 4. So i don't have many fond memories of home. Or any for that matter. But this really does warm my heart. It's great to see the world take notice of a horrible crisis
Like it how he says here we are, like the shit didn't happen. But 1st group is trained to fight and survive in Asia, not in the hot climate of South Sudan. 3rd or 5th group is more like to train him, that makes no sense that 1st group trained him.
The stupidity of this comment on such a serious video is ridiculous 🙄 how about you contribute something positive. You know it’s not Detroit. How on earth does Sudan relate to Detroit & how it this even funny coz it’s not. If you are trying to bring humour you failed.
I know Vice usually tries to appear to a younger crowd, but I thought this reporter was great. Great voice for narration, and he seems honest, unbiased, and brave. Great reporter.
Tried watching part 3 on the vice website. But, like everything I've tried to watch on there it's just too slow. Have to pause to let it buffer 15 times to get half way through a video. I'll just wait until it's on youtube.
I wish a lot of these countries in Africa would stop all of these civil wars. I know its more complicated than it seems, but seeing countries flail is discouraging.
We have a South Sudanese based talk show here in diaspora called The Ladies of Sosa (South Sudan) Roundtable. If you can, please take the time to check us out and tell us what you think.
Where the hell do they get their weapons from? What kind of monster would supply them with weapons knowing the atrocities that are happening. I really do believe money is the root of all evil..
Your that monster. The lifestyle which Westerners lead pay for the weapons and killings of people in the 3rd world countries. To buy your phone, some of that money went to militia's in Congo. To buy chocolate, some of your money went to child-slave owners in the Ivory Coast. To buy tea, some of your money went to Sri Lankan thugs. Etc
What are the lumps or patterns around his mouth or beard (the black guy from Sudan who works in Costco)? Is it a disease or scarring or something? I saw someone else in Part 3 with the same odd patterns on their face. And there are weird lines that look almost like they were carved into his forehead?!
magicaljesuslion Yeah, I'm Irish so that kind of thing is completely and totally unheard of over here. I personally think it's really weird and looks like a nasty disease.
Alec MácCnáimhín Yeah Ireland has the Glasgow smile, much better looking. This is a joke (Edited in as I don't want a backlash) And yes I know Glasgow is in Scotland and not Ireland.
these people are hardned by war.they look emotionless.i truly hope they can find peace in that country.its been too long with ongoing conflict after conflict its all they know, war, death, famine and we complain so much some of us in our daily life and all u have to do is watch this to realize maybe your life aint that bad after all. :/
Without a bunch of random troll answers from online assholes Im curious as to what the lines on the head and forehead of the man who traveled back with them are or are from.??? Also great documentary reminded me of the old vice that I loved because im not a huge fan of the new hbo/vice
I really want to see the day when the people turn their backs and laugh at all this generalls, politicians and corporations crying out fight for "freedom, god, etc"
Salmonella Fitzgerald I believe you meant "not to my knowledge." The point of the statement was that you are trivializing death, famine and rape by comparing it to a video game. Don't.

This made me appreciate the life I was given.
I like Robert Pelton. His experience is a welcome addition to your reporting expertise, Vice.
Keep it coming. Viva La Vice!
What part of Detroit is this?

Id always try to wonder where the charity money had gone, only things i see is weapons, no schools : /
Your day to day lifestyle indirectly funds these civil wars and massacres.

Alec MácCnáimhín Good for you.
Alec, all you have to do is Google indigenous tribal scaring and body altercations- have you really never seen them before?
Alec MácCnáimhín Yeah Ireland has the Glasgow smile, much better looking.

The Dinka and Nuer have different symbols on grown men's faces so that they can tell apart from one tribe to another(:

Do wars in Africa ever stop?
No, i don't think so.
Many wars would have stopped had it not been foreign influence further diving the continent. Foreign influence has made this a lot worse.
(All cramming rancid looking catfish into their mouth by hand) "You don't like fish?" "Nahhh......"
