The 2024 Canadian Grand Prix delivered an exhilarating spectacle marked by unpredictable weather and intense on-track battles. Max Verstappen clinched victory in a gripping wet-dry race, overcoming initial technical challenges to finish ahead of Lando Norris and George Russell. The race was characterized by strategic missteps and fluctuating track conditions, which kept fans on the edge of their seats. Notably, Lando Norris expressed frustration over McLaren’s strategy during the first Safety Car, feeling it cost them a potential win. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton described it as one of his most challenging races, despite showing strong pace in practice sessions

Each to their own but I don’t believe Russell is faster than Lewis. You don’t finish P3 in the drivers standings in 2023 and be "slower" than your teammate who you beat by more than 70 points. Is GR fast sure he is but the gap isn’t 3-4 tenths faster than LH.
One driver in these regs finished in the highest drivers standings for their team in these regs and the fact that he’s in his 40s should be applauded more. Is he struggling this year of course but only way for me to significantly believe he lost pace is if this form continues at Ferrari.
Willing to hold my hands up then but I just don’t believe you lose pace over the course of 4 months like that lol drivers will lose pace at some point without a doubt but the crazy swings in performance is something that must be factored in.
Btw they are 14 points apart. If LH beats GR again this year with a bad qualifying what will the conversations be? If GR can have a bad year and people are convincing us to "accept it" why can’t the same energy be applied to LH?

"You don’t finish P3 in the drivers standings in 2023 and be "slower" than your teammate who you beat by more than 70 points."
You also don't hold a 8-1 record in qualifying and a 7-2 record in race and NOT be considered faster
"Is GR fast sure he is but the gap isn’t 3-4 tenths faster than LH"
If the gap is 3-4 tenths then Lewis Hamilton will be George Russell what Sergio Perez is to Max Verstappen
"the fact that he’s in his 40s should be applauded more"
      He's not in his 40s
"but only way for me to significantly believe he lost pace is if this form continues at Ferrari"
We are not claiming he has lost pace, we are claiming George has gotten better
"If LH beats GR again this year with a bad qualifying what will the conversations be?"
It would raise questions on the all-roundedness of GR
"Btw they are 14 points apart"
Hulk and KMag are 5 points apart, I guess we all will admit that Hulk is smashing Kmag(context matters)
"If GR can have a bad year and people are convincing us to "accept it" why can’t the same energy be applied to LH?"
We've maintained that George has gotten better, not that Lewis is washed
      Cheers!🙂

@@BlatantlyBiasedRacing I completely understand! I accept each driver no matter how old they get will lose pace. I just believe we should apperciate the ones like LH and Alonso who are still fast at their ages. Are they what they once was of course not but the old dogs should be given some credit given their age.

It is fairly obvious that Russell is faster than Hamilton. Why wouldn't he be ? We are talking about an F2 rookie champion. In the strongest F2 field in recent memory. Who matched Leclerc in F2 wins. And he's in his prime. It is an insult to Russell to even question it. This is like wondering if a 26 year old Hamilton wasn't faster than a 40 year old Schumacher. Or a 26 year old Schumacher isn't faster than a 40 year old Prost. Everyone is a bit off the mark about how old Hamilton really is.

    2 things for me:
    * The Max or Antonelli discussion. Toto is looking at 2 different future strategies. Max is more about the Constructor as the competition is now tight between 4 o 5 Teams vs 2 Teams as before. Antonelli choice is future safeguarding of Mercedes. Both George and Antonelli are young enough like Maclaren combo. Also, what's the use of these Junior Academies if the drivers don't go up.
*I love Lando and ratevhim same as George, but George impressed me the most in his 2022 season first time running in the front running car and with a sub car that was worse I think than Lando has had in Maclaren and he manage 2 wins a Sprint and GP, Podiums and Pole. At the end of that season to halfway 2023 he had more podiums than Lando who had been in a front running car 3 more years than George. I mean Sakhir explains the boys mentality. He is a racer through and through. He just goes in and race. Zandvoort 2022 his P2 and forcing that strategy to go on softs. That's his first year in the Team and he can have that confidence to do that. I mean, I can list many other examples . The way he fought back in Canada after losing those positions from P5 to P3 says alot about not giving up. That attitude is what the Team needs now considering how competitive this field is . Look at Tsunoda and Alex and Ocon even in his best days Stroll can be competitive, over and above the top 4 Team drivers. The driver needs to be more than fast.

Red Bull has a new concept car this year, and the later upgrades will most likely give RB huge gains. If Red Bull had stayed with last year's concept, I think they would have been much faster at this point. But it will come back to them, especially next year

As a Merc fan after seeing what Goerge did in Canada I have no faith in him to win championships in anything but a dominant car you say Perez is better than Bottas because all he can do is qualify well it's the same for Russel he is just a slightly better Bottas

@@BlatantlyBiasedRacing I'm talking about from a general perspective from 2023. Hamilton is faster on race trim due to his driving style being smoother and his inputs being more subtle which is better on the tires, Russell's agressive style helps him to fire up the tires for quali and his fearless all out attack nature means that he's extremely quick on quali, Russell is also used driving cars that are on the edge, whilst Hamilton isn't . I reckon that as the car starts to finally get better he'll also improve in 1 lap pace. James Vowles Said in one interview on saturday that when Hamilton is comfortable and in sync with the car Special things can happen, we have seen flashes in last couple of practices in Monaco and Canada that the spark is there, he just needs to lit that spark fully.

@@BlatantlyBiasedRacing I mean obviously qualifying ahead more likely you end up ahead in the race. However looking at timings, lewis on race pace is faster. Case in point in canada, once lewis passed alonso, he was matching Max's pace. Once/if lewis gets his head back on and starts qualifying better, he is still the second fastest driver on the grid imo. He was the second best last year, i dont believe he has dropped off in just about 6 months..

@@marco_1909exactly these guys are coming across in a way to try and depict the picture that Lewis is washed. Loads of commentators have wrote Lewis of in the past saying he’s done and he’s come back to prove them wrong. Just wait him and Russell have not had a front running car for 3 years!! The signs are they may do in the second part of this season. So I expect Lewis to be more motivated if they are challenging for wins

Are you guys trying to find a way to discredit Lewis or something? In Canada he was the fastest guy in race trim alongside Max and faster than George. I think his answer to be put on mediums even if he had a scrubbed pair is reasonable considering it was the faster tyre. Looking into the data there isn’t much between Russell / Lewis in qualifying but yeah he’s getting “smashed”
