I've worked in manufacturing long enough to know 5 idiots getting paid peanuts are WAY more expensive than one competent person making 6 figures. America doesnt need or want low paying manual labor jobs, we need to invest in our people and give them the tools to succeed.
100000% - per unit pay is the way to go. It is the extreme motivator. The welder/builder/installer/laborer has incentive to increase productivity by evaluating his own MOVEMENTS. Less back and forth between bench and product. More thought into patterns of movement and positioning of tools. Keep your area clean and uncluttered. This is serious wisdom LASERWELD. Keep it coming!

Man I wish I found a place like this years ago when I started. I started in a horrible place I gave it my all for maybe a year but the 2nd I lost all motivation. I quit and now do side work welding for my dad’s company and mobile detailing that pays the bills enough. No stress and I’m genuinely happy
The Genus of your Dads system, is basically making every employee a small business owner, without all the capital cost, involved, they get to control theirs and yours profit, it is absolutely brilliant, your Dad is a great man!

For example if you have a gate to weld and you estimate 8hrs @$165(welder truck and consumables) you can assign $30/hr to your welder($240). If he finishes in 6hrs because he’s well organized and on track you still pay the $240 and he has now achieved $40/hr. This way he was able to increase his wage without costing you anything and it probably saves you time and diesel and the customer is happy. You do have to be conscious that you include quality of work in the scope so that you don’t get rushed and sloppy work. Buy definition when you’re working by the hour there’s very little incentive to finish the job in a timely fashion the slower it takes the more they make, but by doing this, your incentivizing them to finish in a timely fashion, and you’re putting the improvements in their pocket
@@varun009 Not really, Chinese steel is not allowed in almost ALL of our contracts as there have been many instances where there are serious quality, fraudulent certs with Chinese steel. As far as energy Texas is likely not to be affected. What is a major concern is the 25% Tariff on Mexico as Mexico has VERY good steel mills that export a lot of steel to the states.
@ there are TONS of good steel mills in the states. At one time the US was the largest supplier of steel in the world. Here are a few mills off the top of my head. CMC, JSW, Lockjoint tube, SDI, Nucor, SSAB, Gerdau, Welser(they moved from Germany) Bullmoose, Prolamsa, Niagra, Crucible After the mills here are some great distributors, Triple S, Bershert, Oneal, Ideal, Ryerson, Klockner, EMJ, Scot industries, JP steel, American Alloy, Action stainless, Kingdom Steel, Arbor Metals

Basically from what I can tell he found a cheaper way and faster way to make the part without having to get into debt by having to buy expensive equipment and because of that he was able to put the cost of the equipment that he did not have to buy into the salary of the employee therefore able to raise his wages and since he could finish the part in half the time his output increased this is where the us has a advantage we can think out of the box in China they are not taught these skills yes they are very smart technically with equations but if you ask them to solve a question without getting into technical answers like equations they struggle when you ask them to approach a problem from a more common sense answer they cannot answer the problem as fast
business people can negotiate with business people until you get politicians involved then it end up where we are. belt and road is about win win. win on both country but politicians get their ego up tight and make stupid decisions that effect everyone.
