This video is over 8 years old as I watch it. (again) and the things I notice is 1. you guys don't age. lol 2. Is that the same Honda you're running today? 3. Your editing has improved alot over that 8 years. 4. I just finished a video from you from 4 moths ago regarding how to catch splittail and it hasn't changed. lol same technique you use here. You guys are awesome and I hope to fish with you some day.

Heard about split tail as striper bait but yet to catch/use. Nightcrawlers in the delta........seems easy enough. Thanks for demonstrating the proper method of rigging the split tail..........Helpful.

Yes they work just as good ..mostly in the river tho .... use same set-up as slit tail.... big Stripers love pike minnows Catch them in back sloughs & in the river
Yo, me and my buddy's are trying to catch split tail for keeper stripes. Your video is very informative on the rigging, but is it more of a constant casting or a sit and wait scenario? My buddy caught our first keeper on a 6" split tail, so we are definitely wanting to go that route as apposed to 'chovies of shad.
Its a waiting game no need to keep casting ...after awhile we move if no action moveing to a new area can help , glad you liked the video hope you get a trophy soon Good luck !
A little advise from wingnut. Do not attempt to remove a hook that the your bait fish swallowed. cut the line and leave the hook. your bait will live longer.

Hey you guys know of a good spot to fish for stripers from shore right now its gotta be kinda easy access Im in a wheelchair and would love to tie into a good striper or two.I do have a track chair that has bobcat track tires on it so I can get to some harder than average spots just not sure where to go seeing were from Redding.
+LelandMomo Barlow we only know one area that is Grizzly Island Reserve they have a couple public piers at the very end past the ranger station google the area for details its possible to get one back there also Beldons Landing has a pier also w/ wheel chair access wish i knew more hope it helps feel free to ask more info if needed thx

Montezuma Slough & Suisun Slough are best but right now not so good ..wait till the water clears.... hard to catch slit tail at liberty ...good luck

Stressed? That was a fake release. That big striper has been stiff dead for a while already hahhh. Like all, they release some they eat some.
Can you use splittail as live bait anywhere on the delta as long as you catch it there? I either caught a 6 inch splittail or carp and hook it for bait. I ask a fisherman and he told me it's not legal but he probably don't know wat he's talking about. Its the delta by hwy 12.
Yes it is legal in this area ...but you must use them in the waters you catch them ..carp also can be used also do always check the regs. anyway good luck !

yea... they are really hardy . they are released & swim off ..hope the hook wound heals who knows ?

Hey guys, great videos! Awesome details and tactics. Do you find that the splittail bite is best at different times of the year and that they shift areas with the seasons? Or are they always in those different sloughs and willing to bite?
+FishVision yea the bite does have a window Oct. thru late Dec. Jan .is just to cold winter is the best but some fish are caught year around the Split tail are native to the sloughs they do reside there year around thx for your support
