From what I understand Salmon roe and eel together is a good bait for sturgeon.
Correct, salmon roe is like crack for sturgeon, I’ve never used eel but I could see it being good as well!

Where do you get the morts?
@patrickv3413, most convenience stores in Idaho carry morts. They are slightly deteriorated so I assume they are the die-outs from hatcheries that are then sold to us. They work good but not nearly as good as fresh caught/cut.
Do they like stink bait?
From my experience, fresh cut bait has been the best, we have tried different stink baits with success but fresh cut has been the ticket!
The half hitch is to keep the bait laying flat and not spinning.
In NYS it is illegal.
Fishing for sturgeon? Or are there more stringent laws in NYS?
