very interesting video I've never heard of an ID cane the only came that I am familiar with is just the traditional long cane for the blind. I too am visually impaired but not completely blind half-blind you could say because I am blind in my right eye and I have very restricted peripheral vision. that makes me difficult to see certain things it does affect my depth perception I have trouble with steps and curves and Crowds Are even worse because I'm constantly knocking people over bumping into them I do hit them pretty hard and I get some pretty bad looks I even get told off. I do have a question for you in the video you said that you get in your car and drive how do you drive if you are visually impaired? I cannot drive I was told that I would not be able to drive safely because of my vision thanks for sharing

Thank you for watching my video and leaving a comment. I am visually impaired but I still do fine with driving right now. I will probably have to say goodbye to it in a few years as my sight gets worse. Right now it has plateaued. My night vision is way worse compared to the day so that's why I had to give up night driving a few years ago.

Isaac Cleveland hey there it's me Sam again with another comment I've been using a cane for quite some time now I have an ID cane and I also have a regular cane as well the ID cane is the one I use the most the regular cane I will occasionally use every now and then mostly at night I am familiar enough to use it on my own I have not seeked training yet because I don't have to fully depend on it. What I will say is that it is really helped me and reduced my anxiety levels whenever I have to cross busy intersections. I also get a lot of people wanting to offer assistance sometimes I'll accept and sometimes I won't I think the same way I don't want to take advantage or Miss use the cane as far as getting assistance in airports will I would definitely accept that because it would be very helpful to me because I have to have low vision I would not be able to read the arrival and departure tables on those tiny screens that are mounted so high I could use a monocular but that just takes up too much time. Back in 1987 traveling back alone from Florida back to Texas I had to connect flights in Dallas DFW Airport I did have assistance and I did take the shuttle ride to my connecting flight. I was not using a cane back then yet but I was still able to explain the fact that I was visually impaired and was going to need some help. I did this by informing the airline ahead of time. I did this by informing the travel agency where I booked my trip I wonder if people still use travel agencies today.
