Sam Halligan what makes it even cuter is that if you have the closed captions on when she does that, they say “[tittering]” which imo is a really adorable synonym for giggling tbh
She got her happily ever after in the sense she got closure about what happened to her. She said it herself, if she had married Victor in the land of the living, she would have stolen Victoria's dream, and that wouldn't have been right.
Really?? Wow, she is so elegant for a 19 year old, I wonder how old she is now. Someone suggested that the longer people have been dead without being able to Rest in Peace turn more to skeletons so someone suggested she's been there for 5 years and is now 24 years old..She is too innocent to be dead at so young, and for murder!
@Ginormica eats Derek they mean that Emily is making the same mistake of latching into someone she just met. Sure, Victor isnt a murderer and he does grow to care for her but this part here where he doesnt notice her falling disturbs me.
I actually love her dress... Would wear it for my wedding. Also, even though I 100% understand that he belonged with Victoria and everything, I kinda wish he ended up with Emily...
The two have a lot of chemistry. Some people think Emily only loved the idea of being married but she goes out of her way to find his dead dog as a wedding gift, and does quite a lot more showing she does love him. I think the interesting and bizarre thing is that she knows quite a lot about him despite meeting only awhile ago and even knowing how to play the same music on the piano.
Fun fact a deleted scene for this movie was Emily explaining that she saw him in the woods throughout his life and that’s why she gave Victor his beloved dog as a gift! There was definitely chemistry ❤️
@@vanessahanson9491 Victoria isn’t even boring, she doesn’t get a ton of screen time but she’s shown to be very determined and spirited. Poor girl has awful parents and has been heavily sheltered and repressed her whole life.
How can Victor not fall hard for Emily right then and there!? Anyone with at least one eye can clearly see how beautiful, innocent and playful Emily is!
Not to sound gay but if she asked me to marry her, I would say yes 😍! She is so beautiful and not only that but her sweety personality and attitude is a plus 🥺✨.
Agree, that Victoria is just a pain in the ass and Emily is just simply someone you need in your life, i would easily shit myself if that ever happened to me getting chased through the forest and then realize we’re married, i would love that though, even being scared
@Corpse Paint Slim Gaming dude, how is Victoria a pain in the ass? She literally tried to save Victor and was also willing to stand by and let him marry another woman if that’s what he chose. They loved each other. Either way he shouldn’t be with Emily because she was a trapped spirit that needed to be free, not married. She needed to make peace and move on and that’s exactly what Victor helped her do. The best ending for Emily is resting in peace at last.
One of the things I really like about this scene is that to me you can literally feel the coolness of a night breeze, the quietness in the forest, everything illuminated by the moonlight. I feel as if I am Emily as the light fabric of my veil trails behind me, flowing with the breeze. She feels so free and it is something I wish to feel as well ...
even with the tripping part, the dance under the moon in the snowy forest has to be one of the most enchanting parts of the movie. The mood is so fragile and ethereal. Emily is as flawless as a snowflake, or a marble sculpture, as she flits about, singing her little melody there's a word used a lot in 19th century literature; it's the equivalent of the modern day 'kawaii'; 'winsome'. Emily is winsome, unspoilt, fresh...words fall short of describing her appeal.
This movie begins with a butterfly and ends with butterflies. And this scene with a butterfly flying towards the moon takes place at about the midpoint of the film. Both the beginning scene and this one foreshadow the end.
0:39 why do I feel like this line is kind of deep? “I spent so long in the darkness that I forgot how beautiful the moonlight is” kind of reminds me of depression.
I just love the foreshadowing in this scene when they watch a butterfly flying towards the moon 🌙 Even the way she sighs and closes her eyes mirrors the ending scene, I’m absolutely astonished, I think it’s amazing! 🦋
I think of the most beautiful parts of this movie is when Emily peeks from behind the tree, with the theme song playing in the background. It just looks so ethereal.
I blubber like a baby every time I watch this. At the end of the movie, I feel such an outrage because Emily didn't end up with Victor, but at the same time I feel so lifted from Emily's sacrifice for Victor's happiness.
I honestly ship Emily and Victor cos they at least have more screen time and have a relationship. It would be so cute imo to have a shy nervous Victorian man date a clumsy, kindhearted but flawed corpse bride. Granted its necrophillia and its wrong to date a dead person but still!
I love how even though the land of living is bland, and it’s simple things like trees, the moon, and a butterfly, Emily just lights up seeing them. And how she giggles and sings as she dances, and how she said “Perfect.” and “Okay.”, and her giggle as Victor said no peeking. She really is the cutest thing, and loves Victor. Completely trusts him and adores him. Even after all she’s been through, she’s loving and trusting and so happy. She takes nothing for granted. And I love how they made her graceful, yet still a bit clumsy. Because that gives her more in common with Victor.☺️ She really is a lively person. And although I’m upset with Victor for lying to her, you can look at his face before she falls and see that he really felt bad about it. Although I am confused what he would have done. Marry Victoria even though he’s married, go off and move on with her, and just, leave Emily there for years? What was the plan? Was he hoping she would say Hopscotch by mistake and leave without him? And then he would just never say Hopscotch again? Was that the plan?
This part make me rly sad, because you can clearly see that Emily was still young and had so much to live for. She got her life taken away from her so early...
i dont know what it is, but the imagery, the animation and danny elfman's music just makes me feel for emily and it makes me feel as if this world actually existed and had a history to it. pretty powerful stuff... :D

You can tell Emily is madly in love with Victor in this scene but obviously he doesn’t feel the same.. yet. It’s just kinda sad that they never kiss once in the entire movie but oh well still a stunning, amazing film. I guess I just wish we got more scenes of Emily and Victor since they’re my favorite characters ever.
They did kissed it just happened off-screen. Remember the part where Victor 1st met her and he was running away from her through the woods and then stopped by the bridge as Emily surprised him and backs up Victor to the railing and put her hands on his shoulders and said "You May Kiss The Bride" and you can clearly see her lean in towards Victor for a kiss and then it fades to black. Implying that she kissed him and then Victor passed out unconscious from the horror and the shock.
I love turning the sound off and simply watching Victor's reaction to Victoria's parents talking about strangling him. It's funny to watch him go from suspicious to panicked
It surprised me that Emily didn’t think about visiting her own parents, especially since she ran away with her mother’s wedding dress to marry a stranger after her father said no.
