He’s so sweet and unassuming. Compared to all of the boasting baby boomers, who are the “best at everything”, what a breath of fresh, down to earth air.
Yes he is. I really enjoyed listeneing to him. Such a departure from the kevin hart interview. Barry Jenkins is a real man. with dignity, kndness, intelligence and modesty. He is a true talent.
Thanks for the info! Came to read the comments just for this and was glad to see it as top comment. Any idea why they're playing this particular song? Seemed to have a special meaning to Jenkins. (I found some vague mention of the band in a Pitchfork interview but that didn't really clarify it.)
I love this man with all my heart. Fantastic director but also so passionate about cinema and art in general. He seems to be so down to earth and naturally generous. I want to be her best friend. I live in Belgium so... COME BACK BARRY, le'ts watch some films!
This interview may have been too short, but it was so delightful. I hope Barry will be back again soon! Side note, while it might have sucked that Beatty & Dunaway messed up announcing his win, it was the most memorable thing to happen at the Oscars in decades and won't be forgotten anytime soon.
I agree. They edited it for time, and even if Stephen is interested in Barry, you gotta remember most of the general public don't know who he is, so his interview is gonna be the one that's getting the cut.
@@flatpointhigh That's my point. They already know who is popular and who isn't with the audience. I mean, if he was ALREADY invited onto the show in the first place, they should have given him proper timing. Not doing so, is just rude and a waste of the guest's time and effort.
Then she bolted, leaving Beatty to take the blame. She wouldn't even talk to the press afterward. Also, it's interesting how much attention the field of graphic design got after that screw up. I don't know if you saw the actual card, but was a horrific layout that anyone could have messed up, especially if they were a bit nervous...or tipsy.
You know who SHOULD host the oscars?! Co hosts Jennifer Lawrence and the even more badass Tiffany Haddish. I bet together we'd be in tears with gut ache from laughing so hard!
Way too short. Jenkins is a real cinema nerd, of the highest order. To waste time with him on this kind of drivel, and only give him 5 minutes to begin with, is a crime.
Glen DeLoid It takes all my guts to watch a really good, soppy, or non- soppy drama, but once I find the guts, I do watch it. You’re right though, generally I’ll also only watch it once. I don’t usually regret it, but even so, I still have to gather all my guts to watch another one.
A well crafted dramatic story that touches on real life experiences that viewers who have had similar struggles can identify with, is the most memorable cinematic experience, in my opinion. A "classic comedy" will never be able to stay with you in that way. Your loss.
Nah. Obviously, you just aren't the type of person he was writing for. You're not able or willing to empathize with the characters, which is required in order to appreciate his work and immerse yourself in it. In any case, his writing isn't the issue, it's brilliant.
what a talented and handsome man❕
Barry Jenkins is an amazing director. I never get tired of seeing him or his work! What an amazing guy ❤️
"I had no life, bruh."

I just love this. And that someone so gifted is keeping Baldwin alive and well...I needed that.
Jon Batiste & Stay Human playing "Let it Happen" by Tame Impala?! Yes please!

Barry has said in other interviews that he's a huge Tame Impala fan.
He's such a brilliant man. So well versed in the cinema history. I loved his Criterion movie picking
He so chill with tons of good vibes. I think you could sit down with him and just talk for hours. Can't wait to go see the movie
I love that Stephen has guests on like these.
Something Jimmy Fallon would never do.
You should see Trevor Noah's guests. It's next level too. A bit more then Stephen.
@@HelgaCavoli I love Trevor Noah's show!
They cater to different audiences so it's okay. Everyone says jimmy is fake but I think both are good at what they do.
They don't choose their guests , publicists and talent bookers do !
@@neharajkhowa6080 Oh I fully agree. I enjoy Jimmy too and the things he does. But I just love that Stephen has guests on like these.
Moonlight was *INCREDIBLE.*
Lol
It was more than incredible, it was masterpiece.
@@theo2731 it was a whole experience
This interview should have been longer dammit!

Long time coming!!
Lovely man. I wish there was more time for the interview

Barry is such an inspiration
AHHH THE TAME IMPALA AS HE WALKED OUT♥️♥️♥️♥️
Sweet and intelligent.
This should have been a much longer interview. Barry Jenkins is very interesting and has a lot to say.
Love him.
Plan on seeing the movie soon.
Dang... brilliant AND a babe?
He's a good filmmaker. Can't wait to see how many more nominations and wins he gets.
Why was the interview so short? Less than 5:30 airtime for an Oscar winner? Definitely not worth his time, even if it is Colbert
Maybe there will be an extended interview posted over the break.

@@flatpointhigh I am from India, and I know him. How can you forget him after that Oscar fiasco (Moonlight-La la land..if someone has forgotten).
dont you realise these bits are edited you watch the full version a thing called television have you heard of that invention
Bravo Barry Jenkins!!!
I could listen to him all day
this interview was way too short
i adore him
LET IT HAPPPPPEEEEENNNN
Scrolled down just to see if someone had already commented on the Tame Impala song at the intro.
The problem with this interview is that it's only 5:36 minutes long and Barry only starts to talk at 2:10.
let it happen? daaamn i'm in
You’re very gentlemanly, but it was Faye who announced the wrong film.

They asked Oprah before they asked Kevin Hart, but she turned it down!
It would amazing if you guys could have Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) over to talk about his beautiful movie ‘Roma’! Please!
Everytime I hear Barry Jenkins' name, I think of the song "Jenny Jenkins' Roll".
Barry Jenkins knows his stuff 😎
it was Faye Dunaway's fault
Nope. It was the envelope guy's ONLY job.
It was the Matt Damon lookalike's fault
You know who SHOULD host the oscars?! Co hosts Jennifer Lawrence and the even more badass Tiffany Haddish. I bet together we'd be in tears with gut ache from laughing so hard!
I saw Warren Beatty recently...in 'Ishtar'.
NinepinsKnave He is a legend.
LET IT HAPPEN!!!!

If he likes working in cafes he should come to Austria.
Nobody Interesting Cool
Six weeks?
At least they announced the right guest tonight.
❤️
You get an oscar! You get an oscar!
why are they playing tame impala lmaoooo
4:42 How about Oprah & Uma Thurman co-host?
I'm so sorry, but the joke had to be made!
What exactly is the joke, though?
Ok, is it me or that he is *really* not uploading any new videos???
They’re all on Christmas break there’s no new talkshows I know it sucks💩
@@chiefjetsonofflare5329 Thanks , really really thanks for replying to that. 😊
Whatever. A classic comedy I will watch hundreds of times. A sappy drama, if it's good, I'll watch once, and regret it.

IT WASN'T WARREN BEATTY'S FAULT THO
oprah should absolutely not host.
I already don't like this guy. No socks! Wtf!
This movie sounds like a guaranteed flop. James Baldwin is a snoozefest.
