The fact is this is his farewell album. He knows he's going, he knows his voice is gone and he knows its over. He also knows his fans have been with him through this journey and he wants to say goodbye. When he fell on stage they said it was dehydration but when you listen to him talk you can clearly tell he had a stroke of some kind. His speech his slow and slurred. he knows it and this is his farewell.
Chynaash I don't think Jim Steinman is in very good health either. I wish them both the best and I would welcome any further reunions, even if it were only to be a single every now and then. At the same time, it is tempting to see Braver than We Are as their Black Star.
I would welcome plain old meet and greets, with stories, pictures and videos, etc. Even if he never sang another song again. 40 year die hard fan here.
Meat Loaf has such soul and love. I don't care if his voice isn't what it once was. I mean, how could it be? He is still full of genius and passion. You're a treasure, Meat. God bless!
I love this album. I've listened to it repeatedly and am still thoroughly enjoying it, particularly "Souvenirs." I think it's a suitable farewell and I'm glad Meat Loaf and Steinman did this.
i really like this album, for me this is a typical Meat Loaf Steinman album just got that feel to it. People critizising his voice i mean he is 69 years old. Meat Loaf is a legend and always will be
Austin pickman Ah no, man, I love Meatloaf and I love the album, but there's no way he wouldn't be singing like he did on Bat Out of Hell in the 70s if he still could.
dude what the fuck are you listening to. .if you think his vocals are great you should clean out your ears...they are comically pathetic..what a joke..haha
Songs from each decade that are greater than others. If I had to choose one decade is better I don't believe you can. The latest album sounds like a live show while sometimes has these modern recording psychedelic treatment. Different style compared to any ML album. The earlier recordswas good too but the singing and the guitar became more harder in the later years. You'd never hear songs like Land of The Pig on the first album. Maybe the song Godz though. The same way you wouldn't hear ForCrying Out Loud post 2003. Again The singing and guitar just really goes all out these days. Personally I can't hear enough of all his music. The Midnight album lacks in the singing sometimes, but the drums and rest of the musicianship make up for it. No offence intended to all the singers involved on Midnight. He's one rare artist, cannot really compare to anyone else. I hope he does one more full album. With a different production planned. Wouldn't want another record duplicating Hang Cool, Handbasket and now Braver. If another one album happens I'm certain something on it would at least be better than 1983. No meanness intended.
I have been honored to interview Meatloaf a couple of times on my national radio show. "Bat Out Of Hell" is still among the Top 20 albums of all time, in my estimation. I was only disappointed when Ellen Foley told me in an interview that it wasn't her making all the moans during Paradise By The Dashboard Light. it was Jim Steinman! Bummer.
Some of the comments on this thread are disgusting, disrespectful, and lacking all compassion. The hateful bile being spewed should make you thoroughly ashamed of yourselves. You didn't deserve Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman.
You took the words right out of my mouth, Ian! Farewell album? He wasn't going anywhere until he died of covid a ferw months ago. If I remember right, the chair he was sitting on was on wheels and rolled of the stage they had set up for the interview. Which is why he sued them.
the best thing I ever saw was a Meat Concert at Iguanas (if it still exists) in Tejauna, Mx, maybe 25 years ago . Awesome, and I done forget .... though from San Diego.
as you get older the voice mellows and is not so easy to control he is 69 for gods sake i hope i can sing like that when i am 69 keep up the good work meatloaf
If Meat Loaf were to do another record I would want something like this: 1. "New Jim Steinman Epic" 2. What Part Of My Body Hurts The Most 3. Rebel Without A Clue 4. "New Jim Steinman Ballad" 5. Stark Raving Love 6. Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All) 7. Yogi 8. "New Jim Steinman Song" 9. Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young 10. The Vaults Of Heaven
Lone Wanderer Is Vaults the song that's been posted on TH-cam as a demo, or the Steinman/Lloyd Webber song from Whistle Down the Wind? Because the latter would be killer coming out of Meat's mouth, even now. The lower range (it tops out at an A, and even that only happens once) would be a plus too tbh
I found the last question at the end of the video very depressing. The lady asks if we will ever visually see Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman together again, like in a video. And Meat very bluntly says "no" twice. Then he never explains why. He just talks about how Steinman is such a great writer who has given the world such amazing gifts, but few people seem to recognize that. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but when I think about what Meat might have been trying to imply, it's really depressing.
I have some proposed song titles and lengths if Meat and Jim ever do a record again 1. Resurrection 9:57 2. The Things We Love 7:23 3. Building Something Of Nothing 8:42 4. I Will Hold You (Always) 11:55 5. Dreams Of The Past 7:31 6. Crawl 7:45 7. War Song 9:14 8. Float Away 12:34 9. As The World Fades To Gray 8:23 10. Never Will We Love Again 9:53 11. Dinner For One, War For Two 27:45 So I think of their next album as a progressive album with hints of elements of the Bat records and his more obscure works. I would call it Bat Out Of Hell IV: The Final Act Let me know what you think
Title 3 you can hear Meat delivering in some kind of form slower or rockier I don't know I like it Title 1 Very inspired , reminds me of songs from his late seventies early eighties era.. only it's more Modern? Some of the others kinda sound like the non Jim stuff from 2006's Bat III
Try to mix up a few Steinman's Bat III like Future, Bad For Good, It's all coming back, cry to heaven & Braver Than We Are you will see it sounds just as good, and also you'll get the real Bat III.
It has always bothered me when i heard 'they didn't like the music'. These are people in the music world...arent they supposed to be good at that? Shit, the first time I heard BAT....I loved it instantly. It was genius and genuine. I would have lost the $100 as well. People amaze me lol
To be honest, I couldn't wait for this album to end when I first played it--I thought it was that bad. Going all the way; More and Skull of your country.are now in my head constantly lol.
totally agree.it took me 3 or four plays to get past how much damage he has done to his voice but if you can get past that it's a pretty decent album with a couple of excellent tracks
Meat Loaf: I don't breath the song. I live the song. Me: Yeah you do. That's AWESOME. I've never seen a singing actor before. Meat your hear by know as the singing actor. And if nobody knows what I'm talking about, Meat didn't think he could sing unless he was a character. He had to be a character and he was in character in every song he sang. That's what he said
Think of the following records as a movie trilogy... Bat Out Of Hell: the human condition of adolescence, the intro to Bat is like the opening credits to the movie Bat Out Of Hell 2: the human condition of middle age Bat Out Of Hell 3: FORGET IT! It’s a Meat Loaf record but not a Bat Out Of Hell record Braver Than We Are: is the TRUE Bat Out Of Hell 3 and deals with the human condition of being old! Although Meat’s characters are 19, the character in Skull Of Your Country dies and Train of Love is like the closing credits
im a meat loaf fan from australia no news is good news we have to waite/hear and find if meat will release more music or do a movie in 2018 before he turn 71 years young and goes into retaiment for awaite and leave out his days enjoying peacefull life just a romour i know off that meat loaf will release a christmas album in 2011 called hot hollydays it never happen yet next album come out in 2016- braver than we are
Chynaash Honestly, if you're "going back in time" with Meat Loaf, you can't do better than his Bat out of Hell album (Ellen Foley) and tour (Karla DeVito) duet partners. Patti Russo was a later replacement who has since become the "classic" female vocalist for some reason.
Patti wasn't there in the beginning. Why should she be on the end? It might have been nice if Rory had been on. I like it. It's a fitting end to the story. 40 year fan here.
With all due respect, who is Mr. Michael Aday comparing Jim Steinman to Mozart? I am not saying he is wrong or right but I am saying, he has no way of knowing this. I am an all-time Jim Steinman follower and former member of his original fan club and the 250 year old Mozart music is not my cup of tea but Meat Loaf putting Mozart and Steinman in the same category is ridiculous. Give me a break.
It is a shame they didn't involve Todd Rundgren at all, I know they had in him for Bat III for basically a cameo and I think they should have done the same. As much as I hate Meatloaf's voice now I would love to see a record Titles Meatloaf and Jim Steinman Bat Out of Hell IV The Final Bat. But that will never happen.
I was a huge fan....but let’s be honest, his voice has been in decline since early 2001. His voice doesn’t even sound like what he used to. The last album was just dreadful. I’m surprised it was released....it was that bad. Anyway, Bat 1 and 2, Dead Ringer and a few other songs...No Matter What, A kiss is a terrible.....are brilliant. His stage shows in the hay day were brilliant. He gave me a lot of enjoyment throughout the 70’s -2000.
Bailey Crawly It was permanently damaged way back during the first Bat tour, and has honestly been on a very slow downhill decline since then. His age has just magnified it more in the last ten years or so (vocal loss is inevitable with age, but combine that with the grade A beating his pipes have taken over 40 years, and you have quite a problem). Sad but true.
Kick ass vocals by who, the background singers? Meat Loaf sounds terrible on this album, and I'm one of his biggest fans. I was looking forward to it coming out, and really wanted to like it, but I was very disappointed.
Must be on payroll? Because I like something? Really classy bud. Just because you hate it so bad doesn't mean other people have to as well. I do like it. And maybe if you weren't so hell bent on hating it, i'd explain why I like it. But you don't deserve that. Have fun with your close mindedness. Lates.
Matt Price Ah Matt, are you serious? Another set of Meatloaf and Jim Steinman songs the same quality as those albums wouldn't be on your shopping list?
Been a big Jim Steinman fan all my life.......but this, seriously? I have to say this was painful and somewhat depressing to listen to. Had the CD for 3 days, played it once and part twice - it went in the trash can. Sorry Meat, hang up your vocal chords.
Marco vanRoth You just showed to anyone who REALLY does know their music & talent....that you obviously..dont know their ways...talents...performance!! MeatLoaf has always been intriguing because of what his music states!! The voice is a trophy...on top of it all. Not only the "sound" of his voice!! Go ahead....go to sleep!!
oh damn i really hate this record like meatloaf says!!!! there is nothing like this. Yeah it's that bad!!! Respect for the man 10 years ago but niow pff. A disgrace for the music
You don't just pass out from dehydration. It's more like either a lack of oxygen (Meat has asthma) or Meat had heat stroke.
Derik S. Yes you can, I have and spent time in the hospital for it.
Meat Loaf is a legend and always will be
True.
i think he mesnt to sing like thst. as theres hints of his good vocals in the album. i liked it
Agree
Austin pickman Ah no, man, I love Meatloaf and I love the album, but there's no way he wouldn't be singing like he did on Bat Out of Hell in the 70s if he still could.
Tolken Theo
And who ever doesnt know that by now....."never" will!!
Love the record. Love Meat. Enough said. This is the stuff of legend.
dude what the fuck are you listening to. .if you think his vocals are great you should clean out your ears...they are comically pathetic..what a joke..haha
lol whatever bud. I love it. let's agree to disagree. no need to be a dick!!
Yeah sorry man..fair enough...you should listen to his early records tho.his voice is much better
Songs from each decade that are greater than others. If I had to choose one decade is better I don't believe you can. The latest album sounds like a live show while sometimes has these modern recording psychedelic treatment. Different style compared to any ML album.

Meat Loaf is such an amazing performer. Going to one of his concerts is a real treat. Amazing.
Bummer.
Mark Snyder Even the girl's? Could've fooled me lol
Mark Snyder
Lmbo....O' wow"!!
Two AWESOME GUYS! I LOVE YOU MEAT LOAF GOING TO MISS YOU RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻💔😢😢😢😢😢
Some of the comments on this thread are disgusting, disrespectful, and lacking all compassion. The hateful bile being spewed should make you thoroughly ashamed of yourselves. You didn't deserve Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman.
Indeed.
Ian Boldsworth
Thanks for the warning!! I may have busted something!! But whats to be expected....people today.....like.....Jacob's music!!!
You took the words right out of my mouth, Ian! Farewell album? He wasn't going anywhere until he died of covid a ferw months ago. If I remember right, the chair he was sitting on was on wheels and rolled of the stage they had set up for the interview. Which is why he sued them.
R.I.P. MEATLOAF BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN🙏🙏🙏
There was never a time where I hated "Bat Out Of Hell".
I've bought several copies on LP, cassette, and finally on CD.
Well i love you and Jim Steinman
I like this album, nearly as good as bat out of he'll.
God rest his soul may him and jimmy be together again
I don't think anybody in this section even listened to the album... sure it's not the same as Bat Outta Hell but it certainly captures a similar magic
Ben Falkner
See....thats what Im saying!!!
It's a kick to know Meat's favourite Meatloaf song and my favourite Meatloaf song are the same!
That is amazing and incredible and impressive that he can come up with all those characters. He started in 1975. Wow dude. Impressive
the best thing I ever saw was a Meat Concert at Iguanas (if it still exists) in Tejauna, Mx, maybe 25 years ago . Awesome, and I done forget .... though from San Diego.
Aww babe!! He still licks his lips!! All these years!!!!!!!
as you get older the voice mellows and is not so easy to control he is 69 for gods sake i hope i can sing like that when i am 69 keep up the good work meatloaf
I did not even know about this album til like 30 minutes ago when I was Wiki 'ing Meat Loaf ...had no clue at all.
Wow meaty beautiful ❤ rip❤ or are you rocking with jim now in heaven ❤❤ and i have only 12 albums would love more❤
If Meat Loaf were to do another record I would want something like this:
1. "New Jim Steinman Epic"
2. What Part Of My Body Hurts The Most
3. Rebel Without A Clue
4. "New Jim Steinman Ballad"
5. Stark Raving Love
6. Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All)
7. Yogi
8. "New Jim Steinman Song"
9. Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young
10. The Vaults Of Heaven
You're breaking out of your chains, and you're breaking in a new pair of boots.
Dance In Your Pants would not be a bad one either :)
It was originally planned for Bat III, but Meat hated Dance In Your Pants
Lone Wanderer Is Vaults the song that's been posted on TH-cam as a demo, or the Steinman/Lloyd Webber song from Whistle Down the Wind? Because the latter would be killer coming out of Meat's mouth, even now. The lower range (it tops out at an A, and even that only happens once) would be a plus too tbh

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but when I think about what Meat might have been trying to imply, it's really depressing.
Meatloaf was and is the best
“I don’t have any friends “
Same Meat same lol
I have some proposed song titles and lengths if Meat and Jim ever do a record again
1. Resurrection 9:57
2. The Things We Love 7:23
3. Building Something Of Nothing 8:42
4. I Will Hold You (Always) 11:55

8. Float Away 12:34
9. As The World Fades To Gray 8:23
10. Never Will We Love Again 9:53
11. Dinner For One, War For Two 27:45
So I think of their next album as a progressive album with hints of elements of the Bat records and his more obscure works.
I would call it
Bat Out Of Hell IV: The Final Act
Let me know what you think

I always wonder how many babies were conceived whilst their parents were listening to Meatloaf. I know of, at least one.
Does anyone know why Patti Russo isn't in the Album? I miss her.
16:55 that's for yall
Meat Loaf: I don't breath the song. I live the song.

i hope!!!!
NO! He'll be back!
im a meat loaf fan from australia
no news is good news
we have to waite/hear and find if meat will release more music or do a movie in 2018 before he turn 71 years young and goes into retaiment for awaite and leave out his days enjoying peacefull life
just a romour i know off that meat loaf will release a christmas album in 2011 called hot hollydays
it never happen yet
next album come out in 2016- braver than we are
It should have been Meat, Jim and Patty if he wanted to go back in time. for his farewell.

They should of made a bat out of hell 4
IT IS BAT OUT OF HELL 4
last ever album if gets released is called hot hollyes-chrismas album

PianoGesang moron
Madonna's CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR ..came two ways...in track individual tracks like a regular album, and as one continuous album, even on iTunes
Last record? Please no!
17:25 TRILLION GZILLION is more like it

hard to listen Very sad the voice is gone .
"America has a great system..." bet he's regretting that now.
his voice is gone
Bailey Crawly It was permanently damaged way back during the first Bat tour, and has honestly been on a very slow downhill decline since then. Oh , geez. He talks like he's punch drunk. You can't go home again.
The comments re: his voice - that’s the least of the problems. The songs are just rubbish and the production/mix is like a deaf guy did it.
"we didn't want Bat I or bat II. We wanted to make something different." There's your mistake right there.
If it was the same, I wouldn't have bought it. Love the new album. Kick ass vocals.
Kick ass vocals by who, the background singers? Meat Loaf sounds terrible on this album, and I'm one of his biggest fans. I was looking forward to it coming out, and really wanted to like it, but I was very disappointed.
By Meat Loaf.

You just showed to anyone who REALLY does know their music & talent....that you obviously..dont know their ways...talents...performance!!
MeatLoaf has always been intriguing because of what his music states!! The voice is a trophy...on top of it all. Not only the "sound" of his voice!! Go ahead....go to sleep!!
He should have known when to stop. Quit while you're ahead.
oh my god!! this is really a bad album and meat sounds so bad!!
One of the worst albums I’ve heard in four decades of being seriously interested in music. It’s absolute garbage. And I listen to Meat Loaf most days.
oh damn i really hate this record like meatloaf says!!!! there is nothing like this.
Yeah it's that bad!!! Respect for the man 10 years ago but niow pff.
A disgrace for the music
the joke really is he makes every excuse possible to why hes singing bad.and wont admit his voice has been embarrassingly trashed for 20 years..really
DirtyDs
Listen to the story!!!! But hey....your loss
