I was in Moscow in 1979: when rain was coming, motorists would remove their wiper-blades from glove-boxes and get out in the rain in the middle of Moscow and attach the wiper-blades.

Wow, I know someone from the former GDR, the parents ordered a new car when he was 5 years old, and after 13 years (!) they got the new car in 1987 and because their own car was still very good, they sold the new car for three times the price and bought a used car for their child for part of the money and for the remaining money they went on holiday to Hungary for a two-week holiday and bought a TV 🤣

Hi Julie. Great video, could you do some car reviews on Lada 2101 or Moskvich 412 GAZ Volga ect, car scrap yard videos many find interesting car scrap yard videos from Soviet era, as a former car spray painter, I used to buy and sell many cars at one point, have bought and sold a few Ladas one with a twin cam Fiat engine, bought one Moskvich 412 1972 car this was in the mid 90s, cost me scrap money, sourced parts from Satra motors UK, I like your videos, keep making them ❤

Hello. You may be surprised, but some of the cars you mentioned are still in use. We don’t have the kind of car junkyards that many are used to. Here, cars are still running even when they technically should not be on the road.
You have a very interesting hobby. Today, we had snowfall, so reviewing the cars would be challenging. I’ll try to do it as soon as I can.
Thank you for your interesting comment.
      Julie.

Can you show us what luxury apartments in the 50s and 60s looked like.
Можете ли вы показать нам, как выглядели роскошные квартиры в 50-х и 60-х годах?

Fabulous video ☺️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I loved the old family stories 💖 Did your dad end up getting his car? That lady certainly showed her ex husband 🤣 Were there many women drivers then in Soviet Union? I know I’ve probably watched too many movies, but did you all address each other as “Comrade?”. Can’t wait for the next one Julie ☺️

    • @Soviet-Born

Hello! I’m so glad you enjoyed the new video.
My dad never ended up getting his car. When he wanted it, they wouldn’t give it to him, and later he just didn’t want it anymore. The word “comrade” was an official form of address. Of course, there’s a certain stereotype around it, and it was immediately clear that it referred to the USSR. In real life, we hardly ever used that word.
      Thank you for the comments!
      Julie

That’s a shame 😞 I hope he got to go hunting and fishing sometimes though. Oh I see. So it was only used in very formal settings? I told you I’ve seen too many movies 🤣 Would you consider a video on women’s roles in the Soviet Era? Both in the home and work force? 💖

What part of Soviet Union did you live? E.g. Tashkent? You should make a video about your country e.g. Earthquake in 1960s that destroyed a capital city.

The possibility to win a car in the lottery, never heard of any case? I know at least one, Putins mother won a Saphorshez and it was Putins first car, he mentioned that in a later interview. Please go on....
