The most attractive 2024 motorhome. Niesmann Bischoff i Smove. Beautiful but unreliable.

  • In my opinion, the Niesmann Bischoff iSmove is the most attractive motorhome on the market as far as the internal layout is concerned. The iSmove is however also over engineered which leads to all sorts of electrical and other breakdowns internally. In this video, I show you the internal layout of the iSmove whilst also telling you of the many problems the vehicle has. I hope that this problems will be resolved as the iSmove is, without doubt in my opinion, the most desirable motorhome on the market.
    The Niesmann Bischoff Smove has a flush-mounted panoramic roof, optionally available with an electrical sliding roof. Standing height of up to 1.98 metres is available in the entrance area, in the kitchen and sleeping area. The wetroom has a rotatable washbasin and the swivel toilet can be stowed away into the wall to create a spacious shower.
    There are a wide range of upholstery solutions with new materials such as felt.
    The floor has a vinyl coating. There is a large rear garage with space for a bike, surfboard and golf bag - and an optional sliding door to save space. There is a double floor which will give additional protection against frost, this also makes the centre of gravity very low. The fresh water capacity is 140 litres; a further 60 litres are optionally available. The wastewater tank comprises 120 litres. In addition to the two 11 kilogram gas bottles, a 50 litre gas tank is optionally possible.
    The Smove can be put on a permitted total mass of up to 3.5 tonnes. Four layouts, two each in a classical seating group or bar version, are available. In addition to the 7.4 metre-long layouts 7.4 B and 7.4 E with individual beds, Niesmann+Bischoff also provides versions 6.9 B and 6.9 Q, which are half a metre shorter with a transverse bed.

    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.

    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

    My wife and I owned a 2021 iSmove 6.9B just like the second veh Alan showed. After 3 months trying to rectify serious faults (water ingress, numerous electrical problems, poor build quality) we gave it back to the dealer. It was a dream that turned into an expensive nightmare. Beautiful vehicle, innovative design features, but very poorly executed. Be careful what you wish for!

      Brian, I get no pleasure from seeing comments like yours and I really feel for you. However, I would not have expected water ingress. What a pity!

      @@VanlifewithAlan Hi Alan, The water ingress was bad but was repaired. The bigger problem was persistent serious electrical problems, as you said in your video. You are the only media voice highlighting issues with this vehicle, thus giving customers an important heads-up before they buy. Thank you.

    We had the Niesmann and Bischoff Smove 7.4E....great MH...apart from one thing...the retractable toilet..in the 36 months of ownership from new it broke 8 times...when I mean broke the damn thing wouldn't extract itself...the motor kept blowing, and when in the middle of the night you want a P and find the toilet not coming out of its hole, it leaves you with the only choice to P around the back of the MH, or in the wife's case a trek to the toilet block, and at night meant you had to go with her...anyway happy days now in our faultless Adria sonic.

      It is hard to think of anything worse. The whole point of a motorhome is being able to go to the toilet in the middle of the night! Fortunately (despite my age) I don't have this problem (yet) but for those that do it must be horrific. In your case, once you had both got to the toilet and back again, it has spoiled your sleep and consequently your day! You might as well have gone to a hotel or stayed at home. Frankia and Pilote has the same problem. A toilet should be fixed, not some in and out gimmick! I am glad you have got it sorted, even if by buying another vehicle.

    I have been following your comments on the iSmove since the beginning and therefore was pretty scared when ours finally arrived this Summer. 6 months in, and I can report that most of the issues have been rectified and we have not found anything not up to the job yet. I am scared about the complexity of the electrics and wish they had just done something simpler, as we all know it will fail one day, but….. for the moment I think the quality has improved and they are now fit for purpose.
    One problem I do have is that you cannot fit a bike rack to the back wall, as it is not designed for it, so you have to use the garage. Although the garage is huge, 4 bikes mean it cannot be used for anything else. I wish I could just put a small rack on the back!

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I very much hope that you will not have any problems, there was a viewer who commented that he had had no problems so lets hope it stays that way. I appreciate the bike problem, I only have two to worry about at most but as I live in the van, they do tend to take up a lot of space. However, there is a fair amount of storage elsewhere. The iSmove is not the only vehicle where a bike rack cannot be fixed, there are a number with a non standard rear these days! Do report back should there be any problems - and report back if there are not - that is also important to know. I base a lot of my comments on viewer feedback as I cannot know everything. All the best!

    The three elements of design should ideally be in the right measures for the use case - with the right balance of visceral, reflective and behavioural depending on the user... This brand certainly has a reflective quality but sounds like behaviourally is falling short. Then the cost - I remember thinking that one of these was in my budget range a few years back. Now, I'm looking at the large van conversions for spring next year with end lounges (mainly for use in the UK with a bit of Euro travel). The prices have just continued to go up and up and in my opinion now have become way over-priced. I'm looking at a possible van at just under £80k and it grates on me to think that it's not long ago, when not much more than that figure would get me something like this. Are they over-cranking because they are now selling less units or are they selling more units and everyone in the supply chain making a bit of extra cash?

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a supply chain problem, I think the margins on RVs are now much lower than they were before Covid. Why not get a classic van from around 12 years ago?

    A wet bath in a 200,000 Euro luxury motorhome ? The interior esthetic is nice, but in my opinion the lack of a decent sized separate shower and wash room in this price range would does not appeal to me.

    In both bathrooms, was there a way to swing the sink and stuff over the toilet to make the shower a little bit bigger? I think that’s what I saw but you only took a quick peek in there.
