Saving Private Ryan is a Great War movie. One of the best movies in the genre and from Spielberg ever. However, my favorite is Apocalypse Now as the movie is so mystic and psychological that it explores both the quiet and loud horrors of war. Coppola captures most of the Vietnam War quite brilliantly from The Helicopter Attack to Brando’s two speeches near the end.

However, to my disappointment, Fury, and Schindler’s did not come with a slipcase; that’s what happens when ordering online. I’m happy I have the movies in 4K though.
I'm with you.. Platoon might possibly be my favorite Vietnam war film ever followed closely by Deer Hunter.. I feel like Platoon is dangerously underrated and I hope it gets a 4k release eventually 🙏
I’m going to get the disc, but I just got a new 120hz TV, so I was watching this movie from Amazon Prime which is supposed to be 4K. There were times in the initial battle scene that it seemed like the color was off, like the wrong color was enhanced and it looked more green than gray. I might have to play the DVD on another TV at the same time to compare

Your videos have been very helpful for me as of late, because of me just investing into a entire 4K ultra hd setup, and wanting to show off & demo my setup, I’ve been looking for any tips and reviews of individual 4K blu rays to see how their transfer quality’s are, and surprisingly it’s a very rare topic to find any info about, but your videos have been exactly what I’ve been looking for, for my specific purpose! So as I mentioned, I usually don’t bother with the smaller channels but you, because of your specific coverage into this niche topic, have gained a new subscriber :) keep it up man, I appreciate you and your effort

Maybe I got a bad copy, but the video was horrible. On much of the movie which was full screen 16:9 aspect ratio, I had shadow lines bars on top and bottom the same size that one would see on a 2:35 aspect ratio. Was wondering if anyone saw the same thing as I did. The Atmos sound was great, but again the video was bad. It came with the Blu Ray disc, so I going to watch that to see what it looks like.

Mate have u ever watched 71 into the fire it's a Korean war film.. it has subtitles. . It's one of the greatest war movies ever made.. u should check it out if u haven't. . It's every bit as good as saving private Ryan. . It's about the Korean war my god a pure classic.. over all my favourite war movie of all time is apocalypse now.. I also love saving private and platoon..
Love that they kept the proper artwork. WHYYYYYYYY do these 4K discs come out with awful covers....like Apollo 13 for example. If you have answered this before sorry. But it's something I have always wanted to know.

My favorite war movie If I was feeling nostalgic would be Tora Tora Tora from the 70s sitting on the floor watching an RCA console TV with my mom and dad, as far as recent war films probably hacksaw Ridge but Saving Private Ryan opening scene is forever embedded in my mind and it makes it hard to breathe for the duration of it.

Plus Apocalypse Now doesn’t pander to the Good War Myth. SPR is a good film but rich in propaganda.

The Patton bluray would stand up to any 4k realease. I could just imagine Patton in 4k. Technicolor and filmed in cinemascope..

It was red eye in my camera. My left eye is weaker though - I have glasses I wear sometimes! Good call though I appreciate it
