  • Strange things are said to lurk in the seaside mist of England's Cornwall-strange creatures, occult groups, and otherworldly entities are said to have covered the land for centuries. We discuss an obscured report of an odd video tape, mentioned in an old forum post, purported to show an occult group performing a strange ritual. Those who view the tape are reportedly supernaturally affected by it. Is this just a legend influenced by the horror film "The Ring," or is there some truth to the story? A truth so terrifying that the group behind it will try to stop anyone who tries to reveal their hidden place in the forest?
For our Plus+ members, we explore haunted castles said to keep demons at bay, supernatural creatures lurking in the battlefields of wars, and a new perspective on encounters with the mysterious rolling rock apes.

In the mid 80’s I went on holiday with my mum, stepfather and little brother to the Isle of Wight because part of my step father’s family was from there.
We stayed with his elderly uncle and aunty in Sandown in their house 10 minutes walk from the pier. One day his uncle suggested that he and my stepfather go for a drive to another part of the island to see his cousin, I asked if I could go along so I could go to a shop or something on the way. I sat in the back with my big headphones on as usual not paying attention to the conversation. At one point I decided to change tapes and briefly overheard their discussion. I could tell my step father was talking about something serious because he was in his ‘I’m a know all solicitor mode’ which he was…. Basically all I heard was his uncle say “yes you’d be surprised how much black magic still happens on the island, it never went away, it’s still taken very seriously” then they realised I might be able to hear and they shut up. Nobody ever mentioned anything ever again.

I live in Cornwall. I met the guy who made up the owl man story. Tony 'doc' Shiels,...he was a conjuror and actor (kinda). All nonsense, he invented Morgawr too...the local sea- monster. I live in Falmouth and knew him from the pubs, he wrote books too. Have a looky. 👍🙂. By the way, the show is great.

I love when I hear these kinds of stories. I would imagine about 90% of crap we hear is exactly like this. Still leaves 10% which is a ton, but a lot of it is like this. I knew a guy who invented a Bigfoot story here in Mississippi, came up with this whole story cause he wanted to charge people to hunt Bigfoot and/or charge people to come look for Bigfoot. After he started telling his story, tons of people started claiming they also saw it, some of them seeming to be very genuine with their stories. But we’d see him at the local waterhole and he’d laugh and laugh every time we heard about another sighting.

I have a funny feeling the OP is lying. Shiels lived in St Ives not in Falmouth, they are on opposite sides of the coast and have no connection at all except being in the same county. I do know Cornwall very well as I have relatives in Penzance.

@@The_Reality_Filter so, the same island, less than an hour away? In Australia I have been travelling with old pub rats hours on bus rides away from their locals and every pub they walk into they know some bloke, so I find this story completely plausible. Drinkers are going to drink. There are only so many pubs on an island.

@@Tom-lc9ni you really think that drinkers in Falmouth are going to jump on a bus and travel for 2 hours or jump in a car and drive an hour to a completely different town. But don't worry I'm sure the OP will clarify...

It wasn't a secret Home Movie. It was filmed by pros for commercial TV. The 'weird green stones'...are Tiles. Those 'Headstones' leaning against a wall are property boundary markers or mile markers (depending where they are). they might have been in the right place for their purpose or they might have been moved over the centuries as they were not needed when small parcels were gobbled back up by the rulers following enclosure,
Some upper middle class proto-hippies buried their dog and then another one a few years later. The funeral directors from Harrods did the 2nd funeral and drove people from London to Cornwall in Daimlers.
The Funeral (not sure if the first or second) was filmed, not on a home movie camera, but by ITV television , the main commercial TV station in the UK , (one of only 3 channels to exist here at that time). It was broadcast on the news the 10th of December 1969. Contact ITV. I'm sure they have a record if not the footage.

@@GnosticElohim To be fair, they gave it a like and the video did make some of the same points (the tiles for example, are acknowledged as such).
The group involved did have some strange religious beliefs surrounding the dogs and the Crucifixion/Resurrection, though the Dog's name was a Celtic/Brythonic thing.

5:55 - That's not how "czechia" is pronounced :) I can see why the US confuses us with Chechnya.
It even caused a minor "diplomatic scandal" once. It was 2013 and a Chechen bomber carried out a suicide attack at the Boston Marathon.
Another sad terrorist attack we thought in the Czech Republic - only then the Americans started screaming to take off B2 and bomb the Czech Republic.
The mistake was so common that we didn't want to risk a few missiles actually flying in - we may be in NATO, but at the time it was fashionable to shoot first and ask questions later. Rumour has it that our embassy wrote to a couple of media outlets in the US reminding them that Chechnya and the Czech Republic are not synonymous (I doubt that's true).

I think the key to why this story is fake is that it's historically inaccurate. The story takes three elements - stone circles, druids and King Arthur - and throws them together to create something that makes no sense. The stone circles were neither built nor used by the druids (in fact, druids avoided them like the plague); they predate the arrival of the Celts to Britain by well over a thousand years. Likewise, all druids in Britain had been killed by 70 AD, while the story of King Arthur likely dates to the post-Roman period (some time after 410 AD). In other words, no two of these three elements existed simultaneously.
