I have commented about this before here. I am from Ecuador and, in general, people from Ecuador are very warm, kind, inviting, loving (as many latinos are). And i PAINS me to see this relationship and the way Evelin acts as it is so uncommon!
She reminds me of myself when I was really young and immature and had relationships where I wasn't really that into the guy. I appeared cold "because I could", because I wasn't afraid to lose him due to my lack of feelings. I was too immature to care enough about his feelings. So I probably came across as cold. But once I grew older and matured and was in relationships where the feelings were mutual I "stopped being cold". Maybe it's the same for Evelin...?!

Just to speak to this, I went through something similar and it absolutely ripped my friendship apart. I feel like it is the friends duty to inform the person of this. For me this is how it went: my best friend had a boyfriend, and his best friend became my boyfriend. First 2 years of us seeing eachother wasn't official because my parents didn't actually want me seeing him. So it was kind of an on again off again relationship. Finally, before I went off to college we became official. I noticed that everytime I invited my best friend (let's call her J) to hang with us she would awkwardly try to get out of it...which was weird because they were really good friends before... so I straight up asked her if anything had happened between them and every time I asked she vehemently denied it. Time goes on, I'm in college now and we have been dating for just under a year and he finally tells me that when him and I were on a "break" that he and J slept together a few years ago. I had soooooooo many emotions. But, I was able to forgive him in my mind because at that time he had no responsibility towards me. we weren't seeing eachother, we weren't talking, he had no obligation to tell me what happened. But during that time she was still my friend. I was angry at her because we were the closest friends there could be. We talked every single day, we hangout whenever we could, her home was my second home....and all that time she never told me. And then when I asked her about it repeatedly, because I knew something seemed off, she lied to my face. That broke any kind of trust I had with her. I eventually tried to move past it, I tried talking with her again, but it was just so hard. Things were different between us. I felt the blood rush to my face anytime she mentioned him. We fell apart and she found herself a new bestie. This man is now my husband and we have been together for more than 8 years. But the memory of her lying to my face still touches a nerve for me. I had never felt closer to a friend in my life, we were like twins, the betrayal was just too much.
I know that Corey is the one being treated badly here but there's something about the way he behaves that triggers me. He doesn't seem to be very smart and is too weak to even stand up for himself. He is clearly upset and has the right to be but he still lets her walk all over. I can't stand the way he let's her push him around.

It's hard to watch this couple because I used to act in similar ways to Evelin with my boyfriend from high school. There were a lot of compounding factors that went into our distance pursue relationship but I still feel so terrible for the ways that I treated him, we've worked on it a lot over the years and we've been together for almost 9 years, married for 4 years. He's dealt with a lot because of me and I'm so thankful he forgave me and heard me out. I wonder if Corey and Evelin have a similar situation or if she really does just not like him at all. In either case I feel bad for him.

Not to justify her words and actions but I think she’s especially hurt bc it is recorded for TV. She has stated that they had talked about this before on social media. She explained that he had promised her that he would not bring it up on television because they had discussed the infidelity off screen so she’s really humiliated on top of what we see going on. Evelyn has said repeatedly that she does not want to get married but the only way that he can stay in Ecuador is if they get married. However, I just don't get the feeling that she's in love with him. It's one thing to tell your partner that you've had a friend for many years and they're going to continue to be your friend. It's another thing to stay in a rather harsh tone that he was my friend before you and he will be my friend after you! That's harsh and it's hurtful and there is simply no warmth or caring from her

im not gonna pretend i know a lot about ecuador specifically but it's really common to refer to people by names like that in other places in latin america. slightly or overtly backhanded nicknames aren't always in bad spirits (el gordo is a very generic one bu the only thing coming to my head). so someone could say el cachudo in a derogatory sense but also raul isn't a bad friend for laughing at it
As a Latin person, I can see your point. But, I think it would be good to be aware of how the other person feels about it. Maybe we assume people feel okay by being called el gordo or el negrito ...whatever...but maybe deep down they don't. They may not tell us about it since we all assume we are all cool with that but maybe some people aren't. I would err on staying away from calling people by how they look to me. Maybe they don't see themselves that way or maybe they want to change...And being el cachudo is not a fun thing to be anyways. So, personally, I would not like people making fun of my friend that way.

Evelin looks so different now.
It's hard to watch this couple because I used to act in similar ways to Evelin with my boyfriend from high school. There were a lot of compounding factors that went into our distance pursue relationship but I still feel so terrible for the ways that I treated him, we've worked on it a lot over the years and we've been together for almost 9 years, married for 4 years. He's dealt with a lot because of me and I'm so thankful he forgave me and heard me out. I wonder if Corey and Evelin have a similar situation or if she really does just not like him at all. In either case I feel bad for him.

Agree. I would love it if the pod wife or someone could create playlists for all the couples including the new ones and upload more recent videos to the older couples playlists. I like watching one couple in order and for now I have to go through the feed and find the videos in order. Still awesome and very helpful content!!
@@RedBunni1024 I think they do sort the playlists every so often but it’s been a while it seems, prob because they are so busy. I’ve just been searching - psychology in Seattle and then the couple name and they all come up that way, then you don’t have to scroll for ages

Not to justify her words and actions but I think she’s especially hurt bc it is recorded for TV. She has stated that they had talked about this before on social media. She explained that he had promised her that he would not bring it up on television because they had discussed the infidelity off screen so she’s really humiliated on top of what we see going on. This could explain the “you went so low” and the crying.
Agreed! I think she's an introvert who is not very comfortable with being recorded in general. I also think this is why we never see the happy, fun side of her.
Evelyn has said repeatedly that she does not want to get married but the only way that he can stay in Ecuador is if they get married. However, I just don't get the feeling that she's in love with him. It's one thing to tell your partner that you've had a friend for many years and they're going to continue to be your friend. It's another thing to stay in a rather harsh tone that he was my friend before you and he will be my friend after you! That's harsh and it's hurtful and there is simply no warmth or caring from her
Looks like I missed this one. I remember I felt so bad for Corey just because he probably feels like a chump for not being told and he said Raul was his only friend.
Why is she crying though? She really seems to dislike and resent him. It’s not even like she isn’t as into him. She acts like he did something to her.
I think she was crying because she looked a certain way on camera. Sleeping with 2 different men in the same bed. Not to mention, he confronted her about sleeping with Raul. So IMO she's highly embarrassed on how she looks.
I wish there were some way to just red flag the doc to the lie they were perpetuating. They were married when this taped so the ring he’s talking about is a wedding ring (they’re still lying on the show about how early the wedding took place to save face). It basically M Night’s this season when you know that.

Again, this Raul guy is still effin involved. Like why the heck would you still be friends with that Raul guy?! He seems sneaky and just waiting for Corey and Evilin's relationship to fail.
im not gonna pretend i know a lot about ecuador specifically but it's really common to refer to people by names like that in other places in latin america. slightly or overtly backhanded nicknames aren't always in bad spirits (el gordo is a very generic one bu the only thing coming to my head). so someone could say el cachudo in a derogatory sense but also raul isn't a bad friend for laughing at it
As a Latin person, I can see your point. But, I think it would be good to be aware of how the other person feels about it. Maybe we assume people feel okay by being called el gordo or el negrito ...whatever...but maybe deep down they don't. They may not tell us about it since we all assume we are all cool with that but maybe some people aren't. I would err on staying away from calling people by how they look to me. Maybe they don't see themselves that way or maybe they want to change...And being el cachudo is not a fun thing to be anyways. So, personally, I would not like people making fun of my friend that way.
@@MissMotita yeah i totally get that. there's definitely not one universal way to take that stuff in the region or even in any given country. it means *such* different things when different people from mexico vs. brazil call me negra or mulata etc. therefore it's definitely the right thing to do to just not use those things even if people take them differently
I just can’t understand why he’s so pathetically hung up on her when it’s SO one sided and she’s SO cold and cruel and heartless and shows him zero affection, affirmation, or literally any indication whatsoever that she’s into him?? Like I get the thrill of the chase or wanting what you can’t have, etc but at what point do you stop to take stock, assess the situation and acknowledge the fact that there’s no love here? When do you stop trying to force something that just isn’t there, stop being a glutton for punishment and letting her walk all over you? What could you possibly still be getting out of this that makes it worthwhile when she’s made it so crystal clear that your feelings are completely unreciprocated and likely never will be? Like I’m sorry dude but at some point you just have to man up and recognize this is not healthy or fulfilling/rewarding and you deserve an actual partner. Have some self respect for chrissakes man…

I wonder if Evelin struggles with empathy. She always seems to word things in a terrible way, even when it's to people she cares about (in other episodes). If she doesn't understand how Corey feels, I could see this feeling like an attack to her.

Dr. Honda, it seems to me that that woman doesn't know the existence of the word "compassion". It is not in her vocabulary. From what I can gather from the shows, Evelin is so disrespectful, hurtful and rude to Corey. Corey seems to be such a patient (and I mean patient), kind. loving and caring person. What I find incredible is that, in so many cases, so many men stick to women like this like flies on flypaper. I'll never understand that. I don't know what draws him to her. Complete mystery. So very sad to see this sort of emotional abuse. SMH

Haven’t watched this season, just starting to watch w you Dr H. But Corey should not devote his life to this person. The whole town puts him down, he is clearly not welcome in this town, not loved by Evelyn, nor by her family. You need love and support first and foremost from your partner but also the support of your in-laws and community. Corey should find another girl, but he seems to be a glutton for punishment.
