Nice find and refurbishing. That reel would be a great piece to strip the paint finish off and powder coat it and assembly it back together. I think that would be a perfect finish for it. Thumbs Up!
A few little tips: when you pretend to find it, don't already put on gloves; use less mud; if you wash it under running water the mud goes away easily without having to remove it with a tool; do not put mud in the gears (if the reel was closed as you can see it could not fit in); when you start to reassemble it (8:25) the parts need to be lubricated; to lubricate it you must use grease not oil; generally the crank is mounted on the left.

Use grease, it is easy and perishable, we use oil instead of fishing gear, so it is not easy to break.
