@@DuffyGabi Whilst I agree the current SNL incarnation is unfunny dreck, and the addition of Julie would immediately improve the content and quality of said show, SNL is a pop culture icon and springboard to many giant entertainment careers. That said, each season is looked upon with disdain in comparison to the talent and comedic genius of past seasons. This bizarre phenomenon can be explained by the slow maturation of viewers. The unsophisticated youth demographic treasures the "lame" or "sophomoric" jokes that emphasis meaningless repetition (i.e. "waffle house found its new host") because they feel cooler and more "in the know" that the old squares who pooh pooh such humor as absurdist. Eventually that generation grows older and joins the rest of us in regarding the current season as unfunny, yet retains their treasured memories of their enjoyment of past seasons of essentially the same schtick.

@@brandyraccoon1473 I've found SNL to be really hit or miss. Sometimes it's hilarious, other times, it's stupid, unfunny garbage. But it has launched a lot of careers, and being associated with it, even for a single season can give a comedy career a significant boost. Just look at Adam Sandler and Norm McDonald

Just this afternoon I was musing on some of the current complaining about "nepo" Hollywood actors who get opportunities - sometimes without even auditioning - because they are so-and-so's kid or nephew or third-cousin-twice-removed-on-their-mother's-side. As I pondered this, I thought of some of the youtube content creators - many of whom are brilliantly gifted and talented - that Hollywood would never even give the time of day. Here's a toast to Julie and a hundred other great writers/performers who create hilarious or dramatic or romantic entertainment for us to enjoy, who roll the dice and take their shot. May all of you who toil in solitude, refining your craft with no critical acclaim, have your moment in the sun and experience your own viral breakthroughs!

The world changed. With essentially no warning. We need a way to process it, and your sketch does that, at least a little bit.
