Folk-pop group OTYKEN - representatives of the indigenous peoples of Siberia. This time they have teamed up with a Japanese film composer to create the soundtrack for the historical film SENSEKI.
Film description: Edo period, Japan. A highly accomplished, well respected, senior advisor of the Koga Domain and dutch scholar, Takami Senseki, has retired after a long time of duty. Interested in western studies and cultures, he introduces coffee and Castella cake, to people of Japan. A story of love and struggles in last years of Senseki’s life. It might make you smile, it might make you cry, but it will definitely make you hungry.

Takami Senseki is “that same samurai” of the Edo era, like the artist Watanabe Kazan who painted his famous portrait. The era when people in Japan began to think about the fate of Japan: whether it could continue to happily exist separately from the world, or whether it would have to surrender to the mercy of Western countries, which were constantly intensifying their attempts to destroy the walls of isolation. What is modern Japan? A mixture of Japanese and European culture. I think the song conveyed this well.
