  • I was joined by Ross for a one night bikepacking trip. On the first day we rode the Peddars Way in Norfolk, a 50 mile route from Knettishall (near Thetford) to Holme-next-the-Sea; we then wild camped on the beach, before biking around to Kings Lynn the next morning where we got the train back to Thetford.
This was my last overnight training ride/trip before travelling to Canada to start the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route at the start of July. I will be uploading videos from the ride as I go, so if you want to follow along please make sure to subscribe if you haven't already.
    Thank you for watching.

23:06 speaking in my own defense, I would argue that a man who can go wild camping, and wait for plumbed facilities at which to relieve himself, is a man in complete control of his bowels!

Now want to ride this route for the connivence of McD. Not cycled in this region before reminds me a bit of the New Forest.

Nice ride and video. Muntjac - I had to look that one up. Invasive species to parts of the UK I guess?

Thanks. Yes, the Muntjac is an invasive species. Originally from China I believe. They're everywhere. You can hear them barking in most woodlands. Thanks for watching.

Beautiful quaint villages. I am loving the skid risk sign strategically placed near the public lavatories 🤣 Good watch again, boys, the sunset looked fabulous over the sea. Obviously, it was a well-deserved breakfast . At least you found out how robust your new best friend is Mat . Not as reliable as Ross! Poor chap having to do those extra Miles for you😊

I didn't notice the sign 🤣. I could have ridden back to collect the van but he's much younger than me and that's his own fault.

I cannot say with certainty, but I believe that anguished sound you heard was the cry of a farmer lamenting his decision to vote Brexit, you hear them all over the countryside these days. Safe travels and good wishes for your journey.

I've settled on the pedders way for 2024. Such a nice relaxing ride.

Once you reach the beach at Hunstanton you turn right and push through the sand for a bit, maybe about 200 yards or so. You'll see the raised grassy dunes. We camped there. They're easy to find.

I rode the pedders way thetford to holme and back a couple of years ago.
    Wild camped at castle acre.
Fantasic ride expect for the sand getting into everything that turned.
Lovely route and a really nice forst bikepacking adventure.
Im thinking of riding peddes way in 2024 again. With a beach camp
Brings back fun memories. And that McDonald's was a welcome stop.

Really enjoyed your adventure, but one thing is puzzling me. How did you defy the laws of physics and manage to watch the sun setting over the sea from the east coast?

    • @matryderadventures
      @matryderadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

That is a very good question! I only thought about it having read your comment, but Holme-next-the-Sea is at the most westerly point of the North Norfolk Coast, and therefore there is sea out to the west as the coast tucks in before curving up and around towards Lincolnshire. We noticed in the evening that we could actually see the Lincolnshire coast (Skegness I think) from where we were camped on the beach. Thank you for watching.
