thats great to hear , I always try to get things in the best focus I can, and its hard to tell what people can see on the far end, I edit on a laptop mostly and need to keep in mind the different formats.

Nice jasper pieces! You are always so informative. We are still so shy to identify rocks because if the mixed info and just don't want to steer people in the wrong direction. Need to take notes while we watch you. Another excellent video. Thank you sir!

what I found was if you look up any one stone in five different " excepted " books you'll see several different explanations of its formation or different ways of classifying, some putting a chert and a flint separate from each other, others, lumping them by grade, some calling it all a jasper regardless of how it forms, and then even the terms change, I'm looking online and google says micro crystalline means small druzy size and I got four books saying microcrystalline is the same as crypto meaning structure you cant see without microscope, and the dictionary agrees , so someone researching google would end up arguing with a reader of the books, and then there is the fact that half the geologists debate each others hypotheses and write contradicting books, with is all good for science they say, but hard when people argue over it all like fact....so yes, I agree its hard, so im just doing the best I can , same, hoping not to miss lead only direct in a good direction, I really enjoy your travels and explorations, happy new year , may it be ever expanding and fruitful !

@@QuestForDetails Thank you. Glad you enjoy our adventures as well. You're so right on all the mixed information on rock identification. It's just not as simple as we'd like it to be. Happy New Year!

Hi Nate, what an astonishing location for searching for those Jaspers, Chert & Obsidian, so much material in one location. I find it somewhat astonishing.
Watching you search for those pieces is really mesmerising, each time you water one of those stones I’m looking at what also shows up behind or around the pieces your discussing and there appears to always be something else with a shine or show of colour. Truly it’s an enviable location, quite extraordinary.
Another captivating video that has us checking each piece with you and enjoying the commentary, including the singing,, yep I’m a “Doors” fan as well. I probable have half a dozen of their Albums.
    Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

Ray (Manzarek )ended up moving in at the end of the street from my parents place, the the farm I show on the dirt journal, he would come and buy fresh veggies from the fruit stand, he passed over to the other side about eight years ago now, he worked with local music in the town and promoted some local battles of the bands, I remember seeing the big house sell and then an orchard went in, at a time when most were being torn out for grapes and tennis courts, then we learned it was him and it made sense . its always nice when your heroes end up being the humans you'd hoped they were.

Beautiful "finds" Nate. As much as I love red Jasper. those Green pieces you were finding (possibly a green chert) I thought were very nice too. Quest On and Happy holidays to you and the family!

I am astounded by what you do. I am very appreciative on the places that you go to be able to present these rocks and minerals. I wish at times that I could have been able to go to these places in my younger years.

You ended with a fantastic purple! You are greatness, you are loved. Always a pleasure tagging along.Your friend and fan, Kevin

At 22:13 you panned over a yellow flower. Is it a variety of cactus? Many people think the desert is a barren place, when at times it is very colorfull. Thanks for all the time and effort that you put into the videos. Merry Christmas

22:10 Ice planet with mountains poking through the snow. 28:32 Your Chert is amazing beautiful stuff wow that rock makes Jade look ugly. The thing I hate most about rock classification is just because there is allot of a given mineral it is considered low value even if it outshines in beauty other "more valuable" minerals. Just want to say Nate I have been watching your videos for a long time and want you to know you rock! Our Chert in Indiana is mostly brown buck skin we do have some banded black and white I love those, and some sky blue gray with white. Sky stone is what I call them. Here we have Feldspar in about the same ration as you have jasper. It comes in Red to pink some with vanes of quartz and some with moon stone, labradorite crystals. They call it peacock felspar in Canada these hitched a ride on a glacier long ago. I do find some agates of the honey drop variety, but our best stuff is in the feldspar family. I guess some people like geodes but you cannot do much with them. I had a great day in the creek today so I guess i'm still in rock mode.

Hey Nate, I've been watching your videos, they are very informative. But I'm originally from KY and not familiar with all that northern California has to offer. I currently live in Sacramento and have been to Coloma rockhounding but wasn't sure what I'm looking for, any help or guidance you can lend is greatly appreciated.

Bear with length. Dude, I totally agree with you about many geologists/scientists get well rutted in with their educational backgrounds. I live in N.E. MN., and some of us hardcore Agate Huners find rock/mineral specimens that we don't know quite what we found, or the geologists; much less in the books, and if they are archived, the information would be under a literal ton of information that could potentially take months if not years to find. Simply put, I believe there are minerals created that are rare, unknown, or put in a "generic" category because the Silica flows don't have to be only a predetermined mixture of only a few set minerals. That is one of the reasons why I believe GOD created all things. HE set the things in motion that created the Earth according to HIS liking, not academic education.

Not CHERT on most of those as well
as most of jasper are crinoid fossils
    Or sea lilys if juvenile
