    Surprisingly enough, the grasses are growing well. (I cut them from larger clumps I had in the yard last year) I actually already have some japanese holly that is growing really well from 2 seasons ago in this area. I will try some of your suggestions. Viburnum is an interesting idea. I also took the plunge this year and went with your suggestion of organic brown mulch instead of the dyed black. 10 yards are sitting in my driveway. Time to go to work. Want to swing by with your Dingo? :)

    Yes, that great but the hard landscaping is what is really makes it interesting.It would have been interesting to see the before for comparison.

    Great videos - I have enjoyed watching and learning from them. Question for you. I have a perimeter bed in my backyard. One area has great morning sun for about 3 hours and then is in the shade for the remainder of the day. I've planted hostas and ornamental grasses last year that did well but I would like to add some interest that looks nice throughout the year. Any ideas? I'm right across the sound from you on Long Island. Thanks.

    How do I keep weeds out of my landscaping and how do I kill the weeds permanently?

  • @vivekvk
    @vivekvk 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    you mentioned in the video that you suggested the homeowners to keep the big trees in their front yard. why is that? I have a big oak tree in my front yard which i am seriously considering to take down.

      Thank you. The tree is very healthy as far as I can see. I will reach out to an arborist

    Looks nice but you need some ground cover in the front of the hydrangeas'. Not only will it stop erosion but it will be more pleasing.

      ***** First off, let me say I do not wish to offend. I am also a Horticulturist. Since you have planted hydrangea's then you have amended the soil and it is not as dry as the lower part of the landscape. I would recommend Vinca minor for zone 5, blue flowers and a good plant for shady places. Also on a different type of look from vinca I would consider Liriope spicata or muscari variegate. Bless wishes and God bless.

    They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. But let’s face it: a home and its occupants are often judged (at least in part) by the appearance of its front lawn.

    He talked about color but there was no color. No one bright or lovely plant.

      I may be wrong, but I think the hydrangeas with the green flowers are sort of the highlight. Not a normal flower color, but it works.
