I usually find noise cancelling headphones anxiety inducing they make me conscious of my breathing and I like to hear what's going on around me

Not just for kids. These are great ideas for adults as well :) I know I personally would love a couple of Squeezamals from Kmart.

Sensory cushions are kind of my obsession at the moment, my mermaid tail blanket has the sensory sequins on the fin.

Something I just want to mention for the people buying presents: Don't get an oil diffuser for someone with pets, particularly small animals like rodents or reptiles! Essential oils can be really helpful for autistic people but they can also be really dangerous for pets, so please be careful and make sure that the person you're buying a diffuser for can safely have one in their house!

For some reason I prefer blueish light as long as it's not of an extreme intensity. I like deep red light alot also. Other than that though i dont like extreme intense light I'd rather it be dull and dim.

I'd love to get a weighted blanket or noise cancelling headphones cause I need to use lots of public transportation every day and I think they'd help me a LOT

I've never used a weighted blanket but I would imagine that it would wrap around you more easily and you don't godda kick your leg and wake yourself up more just to keep the blanket covering your legs n such.

I love sensory toys, I hated it when people would ask me why do u have a lot of small toys or fidget toys. And when I explained why they would give me a weird look. But I love my sensory toys! Also my weighted blanket!

This is so weird but... I got an oil diffuser last year for Christmas too, which is wood and can have a pretty light thing. I have a few oils but whenever I put lavender in I get a headache for the first 15 minutes. I think I might need to put less oils in there?

You can try adding water to the oil, it helps dilute it and makes the smell less intense :)

Although I am not Autistic I would so like to have some of these things:)! I really LOVE your Unicorn that lights up:)!! I just LOVE Unicorns because they are so nostalgic and magical:)!! I also LOVE Plush Toys that are very soft, like Ty Toys and other Stuffed Animals:)!! I have a huge Animal Alley Unicorn that I got last spring at Toys R Us going out of business sale for 50% off. As for fidget toys, I really enjoy the Rubix Cube and the Missing Link:)!! These were "fidget toys" from my youth back in the 1980s;)!! However, Chloe, you might like the Squishy Toys that are slow rising:)!! If Australia has a Five Below, you can get a Teddy Bear Squishy for $5.00:)!! However, you can still get Squishy Toys at Target too. I also like the Oil Infuser, especially a lavender scent:). As for the weighted blankets, where I live in America it is now approaching Winter soon and it is very cold. I like warm blankets for the cold weather and it is comforting to have many blankets too. Chole, thanks for sharing these really awesome ideas for gifts:)!! These are nice gifts for a lot of people:)!!!

"Christmas is the time of Jesus being born" Well actually, no. Christmas was likely a pagan festival long before it was a Christian one. There's enough evidence to argue that the character of Jesus was born in the summer and likely what happened is that the later church adopted local winter holidays such as Yule in the north and Saturnalia in the Roman Empire. Saturnalia was of course a festival honoring the God Saturn who's associated with wealth, agriculture, and liberation among many other things. Common practices would include gift giving, feasts, and various displays of social equality. As an example of the latter, every man and woman regardless of social class would wear the clothes that were associated with freed slaves and though they still had to cook the meal, slaves could share a meal at their masters table. Meanwhile Yule is known for three things: It's when we believe the God Odin goes on what's called the Wild Hunt where he rides through the night sky and rounds up all the evil spirits and drives them back to the land of the giants. It's also a festival dedicated to Thor as a sacrifice is given to Him for a good crop/a good year. Lastly, on the final night of Yule, we light a Yule Log as a symbol of the God Heimdall and swears oaths of atonement on a boars hide. It's a bit like New Years Eve because we're making promises we intend to keep throughout the rest of the year (Though it's not the Germanic New Year which is actually during the autumnal equinox in a festival called Winter Nights) but it's also like the Jewish Yom Kippur because those promises are meant to atone for our sins we've accumulated over the past year. So all of this may seem strange to some but you can start to see how over a thousand years it all blurred together into a holiday where a bearded old man rides through the sky and gives you presents if you're good and coal if you're bad and we burn a yule log and decorate trees and there's a vague connection to Christ as the atoner of mankind.
