Yep and me my brother and sister along with our parents went out from hogmanay till the second of January visiting all our family. You used to get two full weeks of work also. Times change so quickly.
Also folk would first foot with a lump of coal back then. Lang may yer lum reek was the idea. Before my time but says a lot about Scots culture, New Year was far more important than Xmas.
New Year derbies? I know Hamish wasn't born but Celtic's Centenary year 1988 was an absolute classic! The maestro played a wonderful 60yard pass for our 1st then Graham Roberts ended up in goal for Frankie MacAvennies second. That was a league defining victory.Great video guys, HH 🍀
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE MEN IN HOOPS! 🟩⬜🟩⬜🍀 Happy New Year Hamish and Stevie, cheers for all the content in 2024, keep up the great work! Some year for the channel, you've done some job in 12 months, good luck for the channel in 2025. Not sure if I'd rather a 5-0 win for us or a narrow 1-0 win with a last min dubious pen to send them absolutely mental 🤣 Either way I'll be delighted. HH 🍀
Happy New Year Hamish, Stevie and everyone at Celtic AM. That 1994 derby Stevie spoke about was my 1st. It was horrendous, couldn't get the boat back to Belfast quick enough. I think the younger supporters should watch that game and appreciate how our fortunes have changed in recent years. Enjoy the moments. HH 🍀
It's totally self-defeating this staunchness, the deflecting. Even some of them are getting sick of them. They know they'll forever be smalltime the longer they keep at it.
Rangers as a club has one foot in the mental asylum at the moment. The fans don’t want to win this, the players don’t and Clement is probably hoping for a loss to end his torment. I think they will see a red card ( hopefully after a VAR intervention) 6 0 and happy new year!
"form goes out the window" can be said for any game of football really. Every game of football begins at 0-0 and once the whistle blows, it doesn't matter what either team has done previously up to that point. All that matters is what you both do in the next 90 minutes. Our recent 0-0 draw with Dundee Utd is an example of form going out the window. But more often than not, games of football go exactly to form. So that being said, rangers home form this season is actually very good (results wise anyway) and the last time the sides met, it had to be settled on penalties. Our last 6 visits to ibrox have been 3-3, 1-0(W) 3-0(L) 2-2, 2-1(W) 1-0(L) So that's W2 D2 L2 in our last six visits. The 3-0 defeat was a post-split game when the league was already settled (you could argue tomorrow's game falls in to the same category to be honest) but the other 5 games were all close games that could genuinely have gone either way. Recent games at ibrox have tended to be pretty close matches. So would a draw tomorrow be an example of "form goes out the window" or would it just be par for the course?
We will dismantle them tomorrow,Rodgers will have remembered players the lack of recognition we got for winning cup,a point to prove 👍🍀 Happy New Year 🎉
Happy New Year bhoys. In my memory facing rangers with their backs against the wall is usually a difficult game. I've never seen their backs as firmly against the wall. However, our players are relishing it. Here's to a great result HH.
In terms of managers losing their job after a derby defeat, you could argue Venglos (1999) was outed after losing to the cup final. Also Deila (2016) resigned after losing to them on pens in the semi final when they were still in the second tier.
I never be too cocky in these games if we play the way we can it’ll be a Celtic win 💚 just hope there’s plenty security etc for our players if things goe against them I fear it’ll get nasty
If we can't beat this lot with our squad never mind in Ibrox but anywhere then we should think again about our so called elite coaches in rangers have 5 out, yes they will come out all guns blazing and kicking anything above grass level but if the wind stays calm we should walk this ,their defence is even worse than ours and that's saying something we simply can't play 3 games in a row so badly, r webeing over confident I ask myself , this mob are. Mince let's fxxxx destroy them no pity
Ibrox will deliver it's verdict on Clement. Doesn't really matter what happens. We've won the league. What will be interesting tomorrow is the reaction of the crowd depending on what happens on the pitch. I can't see us losing and there's no real pressure to win. 14 point lead in January is massive. It could get ugly for them.
Hamish I think your reliance on the Rangers fans getting on the team’s back if we start well is misplaced unless Celtic continue to play well and capitalise on their superiority. Just look back on the 3-3 game last season and the 2-2 result the previous year where we were so far ahead in the first half to then be pulled back in the second and almost lose the games. Rangers do seem to relax somewhat when behind so we need to get ahead and continue to press home that advantage. We have the players to punish the opposition so we need to impose our superiority tomorrow.
The reason everyone is so confident is because if we lose it doesnt matter hahah😂😂 ok, we will be annoied for a day or two but thats it 😂 We are still 11 clear and rangers have two away games the next two weekends 😂 whos even to say they will win them lol
I think we are all way too confident, Clement has saved players specially for this game, dropping points in the process. Cup final was really close. I think this one will be too.
They can turn Celtic Park if we don’t get into our rhythm, we are two positive attacks away from giving them a reactor core alarm. Remember that game, Mark Hayley made you wish you stayed in yer Kip.

Hamish hasn't heard of ''First Foot'' 😂pre-social media days when Scots used to interact in real life ....shocking i know but we did .

Stevie doing the first foot since the 70s.

That lambert goal still one of the best derby goals ive seen 👏

These are great days. Happy New Year John.
Tav ruled himself out rather than dealing with Daizen 🤣🇯🇵🇮🇪
Burley and Lambert was the one that came to mind for me too. Lambert's goal was still one of the best.
They focused too much on trying to influence the var and the referees and the media that they forgot about the football.
It's totally self-defeating this staunchness, the deflecting. Even some of them are getting sick of them. They know they'll forever be smalltime the longer they keep at it.

How did that go for you 😂
All the pressure is on Rangers and all the quality is with Celtic.
More quality in this comment than there full team
😂😂😂
Stevie keeps this channel together 😂Happy new year guy's
With a good Scottish name like Hamish and you don't know what first foot means? Thats shocking man 😅
The Aussie summer sunshine probably melts the brain a bit 😆
He’s only young
Agree with Hamish on that being the starting 11 and with Stevie's points re Bernardo and Valle 💚
Happy New year lads, "Faslane loyal" belter stevie😂

Happy New Year to all you, beautiful fenians. Hail Hail 🍻🍻🍻🍀🍀🍀
We were all getting a bit too cocky and over confident. Defo need another top winger rather than bench warmers. Will still win league though. 🍀
The midfield did things more quickly against St Johnstone because they were far more open and a poor team. They were terrible defensively.
Assume it’s only allowed to be at 3pm because there’s no away fans
1960’s Scott Simon most recently poor wee Giovanni VanB even after getting to a European final.
How can a manager get the sack after a euro final , what mentality decides that , no wonder they are in such a mess
spot on get hatate out for bernardo to keep engels in
Great content Hamish but you have far too many add breaks. Much more than any other celtic content.

What about the 2nd half ? 😜
Will be a tough game tomorrow, they will try to kick us off the park.. Robertson won’t protect our players. 🍀

I am 71 and me and my Zimmer mates could beat rangers
but he didnt save those players... he brought them on that was the actual controversy. balogun is out, souttar is oiut, butland is out...
Murty sacked straight after a derby
Fair play, good shout
The excuses are getting compiled at this very minute. I’d be surprised if they get a decent turn out tomorrow, and that’s only the first 11.
But land now out of game. Liam Kelly will have a game like Ian Andrew’s did for us. Lose 5
I thinkt he only reason Clement is still the man is cuz Rangers cantt afford to sack him
Hamish yer getting peltters in the comments for not knowing the first feet! 😂

0
0 tickets for this one. Talk is 2500 for Ibrox going forward.
