Fishing in Alaska this summer on the Pillar Bay. The underwater shots were filmed in 1997 on the Jackie R from Gig Harbor Wash. The boat sunk the next year.
our biggest set was 130.000 lbs of Sockeye.. took 2 boats to brail out or net.. ours and another,, we can only holdf 80 thousand lb..we were deckloaded.. water coming up the scuppers..almost sunk.. hatchways open .. yikes!!,, gotta love the Johnstone Strait and 13 knot tide rips at Kelsey bay! woo-hoooo!!

That is the 420 Monks from Atlanta. They used to rehearse at my warehouse in Atlanta. The singer is Bonez from Stuck Mojo if you ever heard of them they were big in the 90's
as an ex commercial fisherman on the BC coast,, I can totally relate to everything in this video,, the only difference between canadian and amercian seiners is we use drums to spool our net aboard whereas you guys use the powerblock. also,, i think we can fish bigger boats,, wasnt the size limit on american salmon and herring seiners 55 feet at one time or has that changed since the 90s ? just curious
Wht is the name of the fist song that plays on this video...Great videou......i miss haveing a boat like that....im a commercial fisherman up in metlatkatla alaska but i live in seattle.....
gotta love those red jellyfish running down the webbing from the powerblock while yur stacking the net.. watch yur eyes boys.. and dont wipe yur ass or take a piss without wiping yur hands first.. .. lol...
Hey pkam 150, I've never fished in the bay but check out cowboys of the sea in bristol bay. It's a National Geographic show, should give you a good idea on what to expect. Good luck
Damn, thats a big haul. Is that normal? ?ooks like they almost sunk the boat... and the boat DID sink the following year? I hope everyone was okay. Nice vid
I always say I'll never go back to seining.Until I see one of these vids. Now I miss fishing..
