Thanks for the video Mike. Here's a little Fendt hint that you may or may not know about. In the TMS settings (I forget where these are on the Gen6...haven't had mine for long) you can set an engine RPM range to be applied to various functions - PTO is one of them (as well as hydraulics, 3pl etc). So you set TMS to PTO mode and set the engine RPM to get you the desired PTO RPM. Then when you double click the PTO button it will start the PTO and the tractor will automatically rev up to the correct speed and then control your ground speed to maintain constant engine/PTO RPM. Good for when you are going up a hill or something and you don't have to manually adjust your ground speed to maintain engine revs. I don't know for sure, but would assume, that if the batwing puts too much load on the engine the TMS would also automatically reduce ground speed. Plus it's just cool that you engage the PTO and the tractor takes care of the rest. 🙂

You can get the occasional rock thrown up against the rear window: it happened to me: the rear window shattered into a million pieces and i was lucky not to get it into my head. Suggest a heavy metal screen (say 4' x 5') mounted to the top pin hole of the three point hitch to deflect those killer rocks. (some guys use a heavy see-through piece of plastic mounted a couple inches from the back window, but those are forever filling up with dust and poor visibility).

I have returned a willow slew to grain production, and I found shredding the willows down, then get a big 10 bottom plow hooked behind your 4-wheeler and plow what the shredder leaves under. The willow pieces the shredder leaves are too long and tough,, and will plug your pro tiller. A big moldboard plow is heavy, and it's rolling coulters will cut and size all the trash then the bottoms will bury it.

We call them power harrows your rototiller on steroids. What I do is run my big Steiger with a super heavy chopping disk over everything to crush and break it then run a power harrow to mulch and till it up and finally run my high speed disk to get a good bed for seeding. In my experience disk work the best. I wouldn’t of even mowed it like you did just ran over it with my disk a couple times to crush it down.

  • @olenilsen4660

Don´t think you need it for this, but I´ve seen a few of your North fields, so - have you considered flail mowers? (At least I think that´s what they´re called, with the chains instead of blades?) I find they do a pretty good job with any type of grass, but it also demolishes quite thick brush, which I´ve seen quite a bit of in the North. The chain treatment also limits sprouting from the stubs, so where a clean cut stub would have 74 heirs to take their place, you might find a dozen when it was shredded with a chain...
Sorry about all the random comments, I just always want to figure out the easiest solution - which I guess is exactly why you try out all these different tools as well. Now, as for the tractor - If you get hold of a Valtra 8750, you could easily get 250hp out ouf it, and those things are built like a brick! You would not have to think twice about plowing through everything in this video at 8-10 km/h, as long as you go one way. Try not to change directions within willows or brush like this - that´s when sticks turn on you and stick up where they don´t belong.
These tractors will also start on 2-3 turns in any amount of cold, and the cabin heats up really fast! You can ask the Finnish who built them if you don´t believe me ;) In fact, T-series Valtras might work just as well, but I think the 8000 series cabin is better, and the build is pretty much the same. You can also find all these tractors with an option to sit backwards and drive the whole thing the "wrong way" if your thing is to always back into things like this.
