Adrian, It comes with a whole new ECU. You can install it yourself, it's a pain to remove the clips though, it took me a second to figure it out.

The dedicated engine map that comes with this thing...is it something that you can plug in yourself without a laptop or does the dealer have to do it for you?

You can do it yourself. It's not an engine map, but a whole new ECU.

Hi clint did you tune or reflash your ecu or use the ducati performance ECU that came with the exhausts?
    Thanks

I used the DP ecu. You will have to get the throttle position sensor reset by a shop, otherwise it will run rough.

Are your termi's just slip-ons or a full system?

I really dig this bike-- but I ride everyday and wonder how long until it breaks down?? heard ducs used to have problems but I always liked them?? anyone have one with over 20k miles??

Joe Jack My friend has a 1098 and 998, both with 60k miles. No major issues.

Clint Keener cool -- what are the minor issues-? really I can get this 848 but want more info-- I think this is the best looking standard ever !! and one of the best looking bikes out to date-

He had to swap out the hub on the 1098 because it started getting loose. That required a used swingarm from Ebay. But how many people ride their bikes for 60k miles though? Mine has 16k and has been perfect. There are a few guys with monsters that have 250k.

Ducati's sound with just Termis, new ECU and Air filter is just amazing already because its two cylinder and designed to have good sounds unlike hondas and yamahas. I love the sound of my 696 with termis.

i realize ducatis are not as reliable as the Japanese and cost more to maintain. is it really worth it to get a duc? i love the streetfighter and i'm a big fan of the triple naked bikes, but i'm a bit skeptical, i'm thinking about getting fz09. any thoughts?

Yamaha Rider My bike has been perfect! As long as you find a reputable independent Duc shop, you should be fine. The Fz has soft suspension but is suppose to be a great bike.
The service on a Subaru STI costs way more than my Ducati!

Yamaha Rider The F09 is an outstanding engine platform with ridiculous wheelie abilities. My 2014 SF848 has 5k miles on it trouble free and is ready to ride out of the box. If you like to ride hard in the canyons, you will need to drop some cash to get the 09 ready to ride IMO (and the opinion of the professional reviewers). With that said, you can spend about $1500 on the 09 it will be ready to go, but again it's stock exhaust is so timid sounding so prepare to sink another 1k for Akro's if that's your thing. Both bikes will deliver, and I actually might add an 09 to the stable.

Cox. But I don't like it. It was a difficult to install, and not a good design.

I think that Acrapovic is better than Termignoni, and Mivv is better than Acrapovic.

I got it for $500 less than normal, and I don't have to worry about tuning it since it comes with the ecu. Austin Racing is making an exhaust for the bike now that looks great, but it is expensive and you have to get a fuel computer, which costs even more.
