Growlithe doesn't learn Flamethrower til 50 and it's not a TM in RBY. Ninetales has higher speed, access to Fire Spin, and Vulpix learns Flamethrower at level 35. I pretty much agree with most everything else though. And honestly no one's going to touch either of these over Char/Tres anyway lol.
Really great tier list! I mostly agree with all this tier list, i have a couple of discrepancies here and there but overall this is very accurate. Jolteon should be an A tier. Is one if not the fastest non legendary pokemon of the game, good sp atk stat and has a really cool design. Also you can have it quite early in the game Lapras has good stats overall, great design and you get it for free. Should be at least in B tier IMO Exeggcutor is A tier without a doubt. Top 3 grass type of the game, learns physic and is really bulky. Has a really flexible moveset and cool design. Probably thats why Professor Oak has one on his ridiculously broken team. Dodrio is also an A tier. Cool fucking design, fast AF and good flying moves. Best flying gen 1 pokemon in my book Weezing i think is at least C tier. Decent defense stats and bulky enough, cool design and can just explode in your face. With the right team it can be decent overall. Yesterday i caught a fucking tauros in the safari zone for the first time ever (Im a 30 years old dude that grew up with gen 1) and i cant wait to try it instead of snorlax in my next run. Also im really curious to try chansey as well because i think it cant be that bad (also is one of my favorite pokemon) but the gen 1 sprite is really fucking awful lol Really great video and you have a great knowledge of the game and i enjoyed your explanations. Im really looking forward to watch other gens tier lists. Suscribed!
Thanks for the feedback! I’m actually learning right now the dangers of Jolteon in my stadium playthrough, I think you’re right on everything you said, executor is something I don’t have much experience with but it is bulky, amazing grass type with psychic coverage which everyone knows is the strongest in gen 1. Surprised looking back that lapras isn’t in B tier but I think that’s because of the incredible amount of water types in general
Some things I will add here too, since you got most of the others. Chansey is busted in gen 1, psychic icebeam thunderbolt softboiled. It is even worth using the glitch to surf on the side of the seafoam islands to get a chansey in a normal fight instead of the safari zone mechanics if you aren't opposed to minor glitch use. Chansey absolutely can wreck most of the game. Plus you got softboiled to heal up team mates during some grinding or caves to save on items or going back to a pokemon center. Also you vastly overrated Charizard IMO. Fire is a barely useful type in gen 1. You got an advantage against Erika and the Jynx and Exeggutors in the champion and elite 4 fights. Thats about it. Charizard is made redundant by any other flying pokemon with what they are super effective against. Since almost everyone playing pokemon will have a mon for fly. You can for example use Fearow, which has 90 attack and 100 speed compared to charizards 84 attack and 100 speed. Even if you take his special into account for fire attacks its only 85. You can take it up a level too with dodrio having 110 attack and 100 speed. Blastoise Is probably the best starter just because of the pure versatility in its movepool. Venusaur is easy 2nd with its usefulness. Easy clap in the first 3 gyms. Erika and Lance's Ai breaks because of it's typing. It also gets good matchups against Giovani Loreli and Bruno, it also breaks the AI of a few other fights.
Good video. I have to respectfully disagree with Clefable's positioning. It excellent HP, good offense and defense. It has STAB with Body Slam which it gets early on in the game, and it can learn Thunderbolt, Bubblebeam (unfortunately not Surf), etc. My dad used it to go against my Mewtwo.
My one problem with Gengar is that it's level up movepool is absolutely sad. He is a TM Hungry lad. Part of the reason i do appreciate Marowak learning Bone Club and Bonerang since it doesn't need the Dig or Earthquake HMs to function like Sandslash.
How is exeggutor only on C? He is probably one of the best if not the best grass type pokemon he can learn psychic sleep powder leech seed solar beam. Very good stats strong pokemon good defensive and attack, good moveset i mean wtf...He is clearly a top A or even S tier
venusaur the worst starter? youre the first pokemon youtuber ive heard say that. you sure about that pick? 100% crit razor leaf. with stab.. it FAR outdamages charizard + more durable
Resists Surge' electric Pokemon, Resists Erika's grass Pokémon, Resists Koga's Poison Pokémon, Resists Dojo Karate, Hits Giovanni's ground Pokémon, Hits Lorelei's Ice/water Pokémon, Resists Bruno's fight Pokémon and It deals a good match against Agatha as well. Useless is not quite the word I have in mind when I think of Gen1 Venusaur xD @@gnaark1181
It's weird seeing the contrast between how good a pokémon is in a regular run and in competetive pokémon. For example charizard is preety good in regular runs but very bad in comp
Did you just say that Venusaur is the worst starter? Lol he’s actually known for being the best gen 1 starter of all time.. lol. He’s the fastest sleep powder user in the game at the time, then he will set up swords dance, then sweep with hyper beam. He’s a menace. At least do a little research before making these videos bro. Lol

Amd Golduck learns a psychic move. Confusion at 39. It's an odd mistake to make since psyduck features so prominently in the gen 1 show.
I though flinching didnt exist until gen 2? Am I remembering that incorrectly? lol

I would almost go, psychic, leech seed, toxic, solar beam/mega drain. toxic/leech seed is a dangerous combo for anything that can also heal

After Misty, he’s completely useless.
Squirtle is useful all the time and is better to deal with Brock.

and it has a type advantage against more gyms, and elite four
arbok with dig, toxic, mega drain and wrap. with that combo, he could actually go toe to toe with the mon's in C teir

Sleep powder, wrap, razor leaf and leach seed
And a guranteed 95% Crit Razor Leaf
Rapidash is disrespected. Fastest wrapper

jolteon is a good mon to use against sabrina. it gets pin missle, and has the speed to use it against alakazam
