Damn dropping everything like flies there's nothing surviving your magick! I remember the original D2 on PC watching a friend play it and over a decade I played the original on my old PC.
It depends on what you are doing in the game, for boss farming and super uniques, a little MF helps a lot. And you don't really need to sacrifice your damage much (if at all) in some cases, especially if you stay in the 150-350 range. From my personal experience, if I am after uniques, then around 300 is the perfect spot without sacrificing killing speed at all. And the increase in unique drops is very noticable. That's for P1 farming.
True. I still wouldn't care since it's not hard to trade for what I want.
Some bases or runes are much more valuable than most uniques. @Cruelangel, my man you left 3 wands bases on the floor in cow level. I highly recommend you pick those up, they could be GG.

I also do farm all the map and i dont make new games every few minutes, except Terrorize zone that i like a lot and i want to farm it specifically.
Specially in Early and Mid Season - when youi dont have items anyway, its so much better to invest in killing speed, rather then in better chance, because more killing speed is de-facto higher better chance :P
Thank you very much. I always feel that no matter how rare the items are, they just drop or not drop regardless how you setup your build, so I choose kill speed all the way.
Agree but i think that my strategy with fast sorc per season with 400mf and spam hell mephisto 2 min per run is cool af. But i'm kinda weird and love doing routine things so its can be only me
I agree people generally go a bit too far in terms of MF especially when they are just looking for runes! I personally would never get rid of a high roll gheeds in place of a life skiller but I respect your take on going your own way.
I guess just 1 Gheeds GC wouldn't hurt. I personally just don't want to sacrifice any of my power for extra MF.

Mf does only matter in the early beginning of ladder to get the 'basic' items like harlequin, viper and so on.. After that u can go for non-mf cuz good rolled bases have much more value than most of the uniques/sets u would get with high mf... The kill speed is the most important as you mentioned. :) Good example for this!

Kill speed is obviously the most important thing on a density-killing character like a nova sorc. But this guy's character is so overgeared for players 1 content that he is gimping himself by not at least equipping some 7mf small charms instead of those life/mana ones he has in his inventory. He isn't going to die....And he's also max level. He could even switch out some gear pieces with more MF gear and not notice any difference in clear speed on players 1.
Which shows exactly why I never care about MF :)

MF has significant diminishing returns, I reckon once over about 150 it is a waste of time, best to kill 3 times faster to get 3 times the drops, this is actually 3 times more magic find 🙂

200% is the point i try to reach. If you google "d2r mf diminishing returns" you can see a graph.
You need to give the Travincal more of a chance. It takes about 500 runs to find a high rune. Today I found Jah and Ohm from Travincal in about 10 hours. It takes patience but its the best.

I like your thinking, and I like your style of videos, very calm and nicely done! I still think that I'd use Gheed's Fortune, it's kinda strong, otoh I got loads and loads of useless uniques and rares on several mules that just rot there, I pretty much rather drop runes.

How do people manage inventory with it all being charms. I usually move stuff out of my cube to an empty 8 slot, I leave free in the inventory, to be able to sell stuff to the vendor from it. Do you just put everything in the stash and then vendor with another charakter or put some of your charms into the stash temporarily to vendor stuff? Cause I think there is no way to sell to vendor straight out of the cube.
I don't sell items to vendor much, unless sometimes it's circlet or wands that can sell for 35k. Just drop the cube on the ground, sell, and then pick the cube back up.

Found me a perfect griffons last night. Then like 38 minutes later i found a 5/5 lightning facet. Now i just need the rest of my gear

Using hero editor I found that magic find tapers off tremendously after 150%. I didn’t notice a significant change in drops until I broke 450%
The higher MF goes, the more diminishing return it gets.

Been playing this stupid game since day #1. Every patch ""they"" change the mf. First patch was 405, 2nd was 361, this new patch it's 250. Also contrary to popular belief sorcs and pally's are ""not"" the best mfer. The best is and has always been the barbarian. You can make him a gold finder and mfer . Find item gives you #2 chances to find versus #1 for every other char. People call it popping . But you raise the dead and usually find other items . My son has one and he is always giving stuff away to new players. Peace. P.s. you can't use a phoenix shield or weapon on him lol.

I’m trying this build out and just beat hell but I’m really struggling in cows. Infinity will take a while for me to get. Any tips for finding decent gear so I can farm until I get that infinity? This build seems weak on budget gear
Crescent Moon + Spirit + Shako. Very viable and much easier to get.
Runes are not dependent on magic find. Magic find definitely helps, but it’s not “needed” just have to do more runs.

Have you considered Emilio with Cure and Insight? I mean you already have Infinity self wielding.
Already got the base and runes ready to roll. Just have to wait for whenever it can be make in non-ladder. I will also make a CoH in eth armor base to pair with Cure.
Do you like to farm solo on Players 1 or in public games to increase the player count? How does this affect the low mf build style?
Mostly on p1. Not that I don't want or farm on higher player game, but usually public games are more laggy and most people do short runs.

Just picked up D2R on sale, going to start playing soon. I was looking to start sorc (as usual), would nova be a good way to start even with the high mana costs?
I think Cold is still the best to start with because of Cold Mastery, but Nova is good too once you got Crescent Moon and Lightning Sunder.

She rarely dies before when she was 1 point ES build. After I respec her to max ES she hadn't die once. Still have to be careful with the souls. If you play hardcore, maybe you want to put on a Tgod.
Amp damage cows with fanaticism or dolls will wreck your shit, it's inevitable. If you're playing hc you'll need gerkes or ss or a decent source of dr, but some mobs will rip away 2-3k mana in a hit

Hello, this might be a very noobish question, but what would you do with the Pul and Lem and other mid runes? cube them up or use them in a different manner?

I watched your video about a week ago and created a lvl 1 sorc. She is now my first ever lvl 99 char(forced terrorized baal runs). She is my favorite build now. I can't believe I didnt know about this build. While rushing this character I rolled a 6bo cta and -53% light res infinity in a scythe. I still have RNG goosebumps. Those 2 rolls were more exciting than finding a ber rune lol.
However you need to reevaluate Travincal. I found Jah and Ohm there today alone(infinity weilding nova sorc is my new favorite trav runner). It can take a thousand runs or more to find a HR but you might find 3 in 500 runs. Ive done like 50,000 runs in my life lol. Trav runs all day long probably averages 2 HRs like i found today. You gotta be a real dedicated loser like me though 😂
Nova sorc is just too good. I just have a hard time to enjoy running the same zone non-stop over and over for thousands of times. I've trade and found more than enough HR elsewhere that I don't think I want to do that ever.

@@cruelangel1516 Interesting fact for you...anytime a rune drops from a monster in an area that can roll up to cham or zod there is about a 1 in 151 chance that the rune will be a HR(vex or higher). This is true for cows, trav, arcane etc. Not for super chests. So when evaluating rune farming i just go by how often I see runes drop. I just figured this out recently and had to share it with someone lol.
@@cruelangel1516 One last thing I wanted to share is that I experimented with the merc gear for this build trying to find the best survivability for the merc. Ultimately what is working best for me is COH on my merc. The extra +2 skills boosts the prayer aura enough to make a very noticeable difference when poisoned. It can be the difference between your life staying the same or going down when poisoned. The extra 8% life leech gives more survivabikity. The 8% physical damage reduction of course helps with survivabikity. But then we come to the +65 all res and you might think "why would I need that?" and this is why....that extra res means you don't need a Ral rune in your andys visage. Instead use a 15%ias jewel. A colossus voulge and cryptic axe both land perfectly on the attack speed breakpoint with an Andys socketed with 15% ias for a total of 35% ias from Andys(calculating jab attack speed from a merc with an ias calculator). My mercs survivability and my own increased a lot when I replaced fortitude with coh. I tried delirium and cure and other things. Ultimately coh with andys socketed with 15ias rocks best from my experience. It works everywhere so no need to switch gear.
Some people like MF because they enjoy the thrill of the drops. Kill speed farmers farm consumable stuff like this vid. Also runeword bases.
MF is for early ladder, also the rule since early 2000s is stack MF without losing any clearspeed. But yes thanks for presenting the info in a nice video.

MF doesn't find you specific high roll jewels, dude.
When an item drops, it picks the weapon type, let's say diadem, then it rolls for magic, rare, set, unique. The more MF you have, the more of the top end percentages will get weighted.
Around 200MF would do you wonders

I see you are very dedicated to the grind and are a very good grinder.
You could use SOJ + 3lightning/10fcr ammy for more power. You can also use MF in boot slot, if you roll perfect infinity and griff you can also use IST rune in chest or helm if you want. you can also use small charm with mf and not lose power. 2 soj will give more mana as well. also, you only need poison res with energy shield. you can have the same survivability, more dmg, and more mf with these gear change
I know I don't need all res max, but I still like to max them anyway. ES is not an affix on an item and can drop. Just want to expect the unexpected. As for MF, I really don't care about it at all.
Ive been gambling amulets trying to get a +3lightning, 10% fcr. I want that extra bit of power.
Is the Scythe Infinity the best option ? I am considering to Respec from cold to nova. I was thinking of Crescent Moon , spirit and Infinity Merc . Will I sacrifice a ton of DMG that way or is it not much of a difference ? Thanks.

Any base with low Str/Dex requirements is fine. Crescent Moon , spirit and Infinity on Merc setup will not sacrifice too much damage output compare to self-wield Infinty setup, but you will lose the Meditation from Insight, and Nova is a mana hungry build. So if you don't mind drinking mana pots all the time, go for it.
So you can have more damage with crecent moon spirit shield and infinity on merc. The only issue with that is you lose the insight. Mana is the issue at that point.
I use Crescent Moon + Spirit + Insight on merc on my single player sorc. I farm players 4 everything without much issue. Some bosses will take a bit longer to kill though with that set up. Places like Pits are fine though. I personally don't like having my merc wield an Infinity because that means I'll have to be chugging mana potions constantly. It's annoying.

Man this video makes me want to keep playing nova but I have been loving my fireball meteor sorc more. And I agree about magic find to me it is a urban legend.
That's how I always feel about MF. I do have a Hydra/Fireball/Meteor Fire Sorc and I'll show her build next.

I personally never enjoy Hammerdin, so I'm gonna say Nova Sorc. It's very viable even with budget gears like Crescent Moon, Shako, and Spirit before you get Infinity and Griffon.
Hammerdins are slow, they were only popular because they were A) easy to script bots with tele stomp aim, B) faced little immunities. Now that sunders are around there's better options imo for kill speed, esp if youre online doing just doing p1 games.

He's right, magic find is overrated, you don't need magic find. Also, self-carrying infinity on player one is not overkill, who says such nonsense.
On the contrary, with the infinity you carry yourself, you could replace some skillers with 7% magic find small charms and have the fastest and best magic find character in the whole game!
And even without magic find it's not overkill, it would be overkill if you killed monsters with a single spell because you do too much damage, but that's not the case.
And even without magic find he is the best and fastest mf character in the game.
Farmspeed is everything because perfect gems and low to mid runes are worth a lot if you do sell them in quantity.

I know you don't play ladder, but if you did, would you start off with a javazon or a nova sorc? And if you did start off with a nova sorc, how would you level her? Would you use something like a Blizzard build until you find high end nova gear?
Sorceress is probably the best choice since she has teleport by default while other characters need Enigma which required a Jah and a Ber. Either pure Cold Sorc or Orb Fireball Hybrid Sorc should be fine.
When D2R first launch, Nova Sorc wasn't really viable, at least not as good as now, so I didn't even think about start off with a Nova Sorc that time. Right now, I don't know, I guess it's totally fine to start off. Crescent Moon only requires an UM, and Spirit + Shako are not that hard to get. This setup is very viable before you get Infinity + Griffon.

@@DaviD-SHP Use Static Field to bring his HP to halve first, then just keep spamming Nova. Unfortunately he can cast Blood Mana Curse on you and can use that one spell to make your mana pool empty. Try to get your HP over 900, and just drink mana pots and full rejuvs if needed. Nova is not a boss killer skill, and this is the one boss fight she kinda struggle a bit.
I guess you don't see the benefit of upgrading vipermagi? I was told by another elitist that it is necessary for P8 but am a lil irritated that I listened now :/ lol
If you're gonna have more than 84 strength for you build anyway, go for it. Otherwise, it's better to leave it for the lower strength requirement.
For players 1 I think swapping 1 skiller for a gheeds and a few mfsc’s wouldn’t hurt clear time and at least have 100mf

you should do a remake of this video, gear out the typical "Magic find sorc" and then show the difference between the two characters side by side... for example emphasize how killing 1 monster in 30 seconds is not equal to killing 15 of that same monster in 30 seconds, etc... im exaggerating but you could do show something like how many trav runs you can do compared to a 600% MF sorc, side by side.

My nova sorc has zero mf and a couple of days ago i found a 964 eth shadow plate.
How would be the best way to get my first 2 ber rune for infinity?
Trade. Gather p gems especially p amethyst, as well as Ral, Sol, Nef, Hel, etc... In ladder Ber is more expensive, but in non-ladder, Ber is relatively cheap these days and it's not hard to trade a Ber.

No problem. I mostly farm in p1 so no one else steal my loots, so most of my drops are from p1 including a 40/15 ias jewel.

I think it's fair enough. It really depends on the other player trading with you. On traderie, Ber is like around 11-12 Ist ATM in non-ladder. I don't play ladder but I assume Ber is much more expensive there.

@@redeyez8288 I played for fun, not to farm. I played offline mostly using plugy, so I could get anything I wanted from an editor. Just for the fun of it, I mostly played with the gears I found and my end game gears were usually just normal gears.
speed damage is main but do check your drops. i was doin pub chaos with my pally a light sorc came and hijacked me with lightning speeds and after went to join cows in act1. i went around and found a Lo rune on the floor lol gg
I also once found an Ohm in Chaos when I backtracked.

If you want a holy grail, it sure does matter. I run 450-800 mf on all my characters.

He has a level 99 character. Of course it's easy for him to say "magic find doesn't matter" when he plays the game more than 99.9% of all players.
I think the only time I put on MF gears/charms is when D2R first launch, but at that time I don't have anything else to put on anyway. Every time I can make my kill speed faster with better gears, I put them on without a second thought of how much MF I have.
magic find has NO effect on rune drops mate. it only affects well.. magic items (and rare, set, unique). when you kill something the game rolls for what item will drop. runes, gems, charms, etc. drop if and when the game wants them to drop. mf has no effect on those. just like the game doesn't care for mf when it rolls to drop you a scroll of id or tp. it just does. magic find only applies when the game rolls to drop an item like armor, sword, etc. THEN it has a higher chance to roll magic and above depending on the mf.
so mf really only indirectly affects rune drops if you sacrifice damage and clear speed in favor of overstacking mf. cause the more stuff you kill the higher the chance for runes and charms to drop. but most chars can fairly easily stack 250-350 without sacrificing much clearspeed. and then it also depends what you are farming for. if i need bases i intentionally run 0mf and go to cows. if i run for exp i run absolute max damage.
I know, just want to point out all the things I've found.
I-league start with javazon because they kill the fastest usually not much magic find it's all about how fast you killing this game, this is why I only played 2 or 3 builds the rest are too slow if I get bored of those three builds I play different game.
Ya, Javazon is a good start. Endgame wise, nothing match the clear speed of Nova Sorc.
Started off nova with gg gear ended up java with gg gear. Playstyle feels much better the only bummer is the tele with zon other than that I feel like I clear much faster with java.

This is an online character, and I farm mostly on p1. Not that I don't want or farm on higher player game, but usually public games are more laggy and most people do short runs.

20 years ago having 150 magic find was great. Nowadays people sacrifice the use of amazing items, just for greater MF. You can find anything with 150 magic find. Damage charms are the way to go! The game has changed a lot, mainly blizzard copied some mods, and the preferences of bored players, because the game was really boring. What I still don't see is a stash that sorts out items, so stash doesn't have tabs for runes, gems, jewels, and there's no sharing the stash with all characters, right? Blizzard still sucks.
I will never sacrifice power for more MF. Ya, it would be nice if they add a currency tab.

So I also have the -45to-55 enemy lightning res, which is huge. And my merc can use insight since Nova is a very mana hungry build.
@@cruelangel1516 any thoughts on why lg/cl sorc is not meta as it used to be? I had lg/cl sorc season 3. Griffon, cresent moon on me and infinity on merc, that sorc melts everything except Light enchanted
@@shamangamingkz Because Nova is better, or at least easier to build. You can have max ES without sacrificing Nova damage. Self-wield Infinity is perfect for Nova which is closed range, but not for Lightning/Chain Lightning. If you put Infinity instead of Insight on Merc then you have to constantly drink mana pots. Nova build just have everything works together perfectly.
Quite an unpopular opinion, but an interesting one.
Been finding myself a few times saying "if only that wouldn't be magic", of course I do have non-mf chars too, but thats mostly not the sorcs^^

Sometimes maybe, but MF is still just better chance, not guarantee. Character power is something always there.

damn i could make infinity in hand but i make for merc and using esuta or crescent moon. I find Hrs by killing mana drainers like ghousts and in my experience kill more kill faster then anybode else = better best in p8 if possible. I used all sorceress and diffrent chars. Ofc you play same one of best farming char in game special in late game but still diffrent chars are good for diffrent areas. My friend play fire sorc and definitly that build shines now special you can go fireball + hydras and got sick dps. I try also elemental druid "fire" and i can easy recomend him he is even better then hammer in many areas.
Infinity on Merc while use Crescent Moon is not bad in term of damage output, but Nova is a mana hungry build, so you have to drink mana pots constantly. Self wield Infinity and Insight on Merc is the best setup.
@@cruelangel1516 I use items to maximise mana like frostburn, silk boots, 2 jordans and arach. When you got 4k mana still you got regeneration from warmth. Its almost like mana tank.

I dont see how it would hurt u in any way swapping mage vs chance to gain 40% mf and get all sc 7mf+17mana combined with skiller + life gc. Same can go for wt vs any boots u use and a fcr amu with mana and mf. U wont sacrifice any killing speed but suddenly u can find more stuff as well due to more mf. must be more fun all in all even if it isnt ur priority. The fcr amu also let u run 2 soj = more dmg + tankyness (mana)
You are finding all these tunes cause you Have no mf buddy…. Less mf more runes you find cause higher end items don’t drop.

I found only rares, whites, magic with 0-200 mf, as i started to nerf damage to switch out griffons with shako i got 270mf and 3600 dmg on nova, i started to see unique items all the time. I want both unique and Runes, not only Runes so i had to do this. Using cresent moon on pl1 is enough for me cause i only running solo mf. Things die fast enough and I telestomping everything too. So i find zod, ber, sur, Lo with mf gear too.

Sure, but the problem is that 90% of that uniques and greens are useless. Thats why, when you find most needed ones, you just switch back to DMG and only seek for Runes and high bases (Sockets) +)
It's RNG. I played a lot with my 400%++ mf blizz sorc, but I wasn't seeing uniques all the time. It's RNG. I've found my perfect griffon with exactly 0% mf. I prefer killing speed, instead of tons of MF. For me fast killing on higher players settings if more fun. I try to balance, 150-200% mf with high damage output.

200% mf has the most minimal diminishing returns. I try to get 150-200% mf. The returns diminish so much that 1000%mf is not even twice as good as 200% mf. With 200%mf uniques are about 105% more likely to drop. With 1000mf uniques are about 200% more likely to drop. Google "d2r mf graph" and check out that picture.
When my novasorc isnt facing poison I put on 50% war travelers and 40% gheeds.
Magic find? yes till you get Spirit sword/shield , shako, viper or tal armor, magefist , and what bloody fucking ever for rings/amu./belt/boots dosent matter lol. at this point you should be Farming keys, and selling keys. sell keys till you can uber, sell Good sorc torches for high runes, dont farm high runes, farm ubers to sell for high runes. or gold farm and sell sick rings/circlets. magic find is only usefull to andy/meph till ure geared enoguth to start key farming, and then key farm till mange enough wealth to ubers
I now pick up and sell most of the low runes also, as well as all the gems and keys, and essences to make tokens.

Congrats you got a Lv99 char, that means you put a lot of time playing and you probably love this game. However, I noticed that you don't really have any GG items (e.g. worth more than 1000FG or USD100), you really need MF to find them. And BTW you don't need MF to find HRs.
It's actually very easy to get to 99 now with Terror Zones. I know MF doesn't affect runes drop, just want to point out all the things I've found.

200 mf is all you ever needed, anything above 300 ruins kill speed and ruins chances of items with how slow you will go. and you dont even need MF for runes, so yea...

First runes have nothing to do with mf but the higher number of player in games the best chances you might drop a hr. Secondly looking at your gear you dont need mf at this point cause you already have the best gear possible and its funny how you mention you only have enigma on your amazon wich has mf but you dont care about the rest. Howd you find all this gg gear in the first place anyway?
I also said I've found every item in the game except Tyreal's Might with little to no MF. You can absolutely find some GG item that worth many HRs with little to no MF. It ultimately depends on your luck no matter how much MF you have.
I just keep farming and keep trading. It's not that hard to get the gears.
I have incredibly bad luck. I farm with a nova sorc with insane speed and the highest rune i found is an ohm. I never fimd a mal infact! Never a shako, reapers toll, arachnid, tundergod... Nothing. I want so badly a vex rune for flickering flame but I vant find... Lol!
You can easily sell p gems or Ral/Sol/Nef for a Vex from your runs with your insane kill speed

It's very hard to trade by just making room in game. Try Traderie and Discord. You got ripped off, 40-45 p amethyst is easily a Vex or 3 Ist.

yeah but if you put on magic find you'll find shit 300x faster, runes aren't calculated on mf so obviously people will find them. Magic find makes gearing your character up and generating currency to do the build you actually want to do way faster. Not everyone has 12 hours a day to farm on non ladder collecting shit, we just wanna gear up and start doing what we actually want to do in the game. You CAN play like this if you want but it's inefficient as fuck 😂
From my experience, it really doesn't matter. RNG will always be RNG. Things will drop or not drop regardless. I choose kill speed all the way.

Unless you want to solo self found everything, it's faster to trade for high runes and use the runes to trade for a Griffon than actually pump up your MF and try to find one yourself. I enjoy playing this way a lot more, and I don't see it anywhere closed to being inefficient.
U do 2000 runs vs my 200 runs with 500 mf and will see who finds what yes u can find anything with no mf but it takes way to long its not an argument I'm not going to force someone to pick up a 100 dollar bill on the sidewalk ill pick it up if u don't not to be rude but I'm not mfing 2000 games with no mf ill mf 500 games 500 is more then plenty. crazy no mf

The reason you don't care about cows that much is because it's bare like that run had literally nothing- and that's because you have no mf. A rune can drop all the same but if it doesn't- you absolutely won't see anything else drop with no mf. You'd farm cows more if it was more lucrative but your setup can't do it.
For most people it's because it doesn't give them much XP. Cow is a well known place to farm RW bases, so it's actually better to farm it with little or no MF.

Mf has barely any influence on if you're going to get a 15/40 jewel or not. You have less chance to get a rainbow facet but that's a stretch to blame mf for not finding 15/40...

aite. bro. u need to learn more d2r. u r using an es nova and u have 75res on all 4 res.... you just need 75res for pr and maybe 20~30 for the rest. 2nd, diminishing return for mf starts at 200.
I know that, but I still want to max them. ES is not like an affix on an item, like when you put on a Stormshield, the 35% physical damage reduction is always there. ES can drop. Either from taking too much damage at once, or too much mana drain from souls, it can drop. Maxing them I still have enough time to react when ES drop, if they are too low when ES drop you'll die straight away. I just want to expect the unexpected.
As for MF, maybe it can help when you don't have anything and trying to get items like Shako and Occy from Meph. But after your character gear up decently, it really doesn't matter. All the p gems and Ral/Nef/Hel, etc I got from my runs, I can easily trade them for runes and then trade for the items I need.

Magic find did not affect runes. So this part of your argument is unecessary (even you says so, so why talk about runes in this vid?). Jewel drop is not affect by MF (the only thing that happens: more MF, more chance of RARE jewel). And everyone says that kill speed is more important than MF, you just kill really fast with 30% chance of MF. You even talks about your amazon WITH enigma (again, a lot of kill speed with ~80MF). This is a really bad take on MF. I dont recommend this to anyone.

he did say he did not care for mf, be it finding runes or item, what part of that u not getting it? u can get rich faster by trading high rune than finding a griffon by pump up ur mf, kill more mobs, find high rune gem key and trade for any unique u like
Typically mf comes at the expense of kill speed.
He kills faster than you which is why he finds 20+ ber runes and you don't.
