V. HYDRA
Hydra, the outermost of Pluto's moons, has a bluish colour indicating a surface rich in pure water ice. This distant moon's serene and cold beauty is evocative of the mythological Hydra, a multi-headed lake monster whose lair was considered to be one of the entrances to the underworld. The many heads of Hydra suggest complexity and multiplicity, themes reflected in the moon's composition and the distant, mysterious allure of its orbit. The piece aims to convey the stillness and quiet power of this remote moon, as well as the mythological creature's enduring presence at the edge of the unknown.
