I really love how this explains the story and endings making anyone who’s played the game through not confused and understand the story, incredible explanation of House SuperHorrorBro
At the very least, her repeated experiences in the old house after the true endings are only her dreams. I would imagine she'd be trying to go for the family together ending each time since that's the best she can do, given that they are all gone.
I thought the doll was separate from the house, and was just being cynical because it was like an opposite to tabby, knowing that the time loop exists but not caring because it thought there's nothing to stop it, but its final cutscene makes what you said make more sense.
In the DLC it turns out the dolls were previous people whom the house killed. They are presumably trying to get you to give up so they can take your pl(f)ace
I'm not certain whether the father killing Toby was intentional. We do know that the father disliked Toby, or so Toby and Melody thought. I think it's rather strongly implied that Toby died to the bear trap, which could have been an accident caused by the house. The father's portrait is normal at the start of the day, implying that he was relatively normal during the morning. We know that when someone dies, their portrait disappears, when we go on a killing spree, our portrait gets flipped upside down. Given how the father's portrait starts out normal in the morning and disappears sometime before the mother is supposed to slip and die, I think it is reasonable to assume that the father starts out normal that day, but dies and gets resurrected by the house as a homicidal monster. I think Toby's death was an accident caused by the house as a means to mentally scar the family and serves as the starting point in breaking them.
@@knockedout2826 Yup, looks like my whole comment has been rendered moot. Looks like the father killed Toby under the house's influence. The puppet master is strongly implied to be the grandfather being possessed by the house and is a seperate entity from the house. The doll is not affiliated with the house, but also something possessed by the house used to break Tabby and Melody. Tabby either failed to actually escape form the house in the previous ending (she did success is weakening the house enough for the family to wake up, however), or did escape but returned with help from the neighbor to save Melody. It never ends.
I agree, seems like a result of intense trauma I don't think the entity would still be able to haunt her in this way if she already destroyed it, or atleast her escape doesn't seem as impactful with it being implied still alive or having a hold on her in my opinion :]
I’m pretty sure that this whole game is about abusive households. I mean, the mother is an alcoholic and the dad straight up tries to kill but they’re are other tiny details that point to this being about abuse. Toby dying could’ve been the father gatekeeping his children from seeing others, Melody is obviously depressed because she can’t go out, the door is also probably locked for that reason as well. Another hint is when tabby loses her arm. Now she doesn’t actually lose her arm but when she left the abusive house it took a part of her emotionally which can really damage a perosn. And the whole repeating thing is obviously that everyday she’s still in a abusive household and the abuse will never stop unless she leaves. The whole dream is most likely ptsd from the horrible household she lived in.
In case anyone was curious, the song Melody plays on the piano is In the Evening Mist from a movie which is also called House!!! Weirdest movie I've ever seen, 10/10 would recommend.

@@foongern1071 By a viewer's point of view, yea maybe melody hates her dad for moving into a house like this, but by a story teller's point of view, it won't make much sense and one thing about stories like this is that they want to make sure people are still there, trying to find the answer cuz the human brain is functioned with one thing that will keep them in this rabbit hole and that is finding the right answer.
