I weep every time I hear this … I’ve known so many wonderful WWII veterans, now almost all gone. I love them and thank them with all my heart. God Grant them peace and rest. The Greatest Generation, who saved our world from tyranny will never be forgotten.
As a veteran myself, I weep when I hear this music. My father was a member of General Patton's Third and I honor his time in service. God rest all souls from that time!
Today we celebrate our freedom and yesterday we honored the dead people. Your Father was a great man from an ever greater generation. You can be proud of him.Thank you for your service and for your fathers. May God bless you all.
I share your reverence. I just hope we never have another generation which is forced to achieve greatness by what these heroes had to do. We owe that great generation everything we have and everything we are. I’m sure they would agree that we should all remain vigilant and even be prepared to die as they did to preserve our way of life. Ultimately though, I think they share our hope that the peace they brought to the world is an enduring one.
I absolutely shed every tear I have hearing this song. My grandfather was a cook on an Assault Transport Ship during WW2. I never got to meet him sadly, he passed to cancer when my dad was only 19. It’s so sad that we are literally losing, The Greatest Generation.
I’m retired Army, but let’s not forget the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine heroes also. Let’s also include all of “Rosie-the-Riveters” who put their contributions in also!! God Bless ALL of them. 🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
@@fishmonger6879 I apologize, but they were as important as well, both my Mother and Mother-in-Law worked in the armaments industry. My Mother-in-Law actually climbed into the wings of B-24’s to connect wiring because she was so small. Thanks!
Watched BoB as a young teen when it was new. now in my 30s I get misty eyed knowing all the men in those interview scenes are gone😞 I take every chance I can to show my gratitude for the men who served who I’ve had the privilege to know
In memory of my grandfather Edward Nelson, Fco 39th RCT 9th ID. WW2 veteran and my hero. Battle of the Bulge, Huertgen Forest, Aachen, and Occupation duty.
My Dad was a medic/surgeons assistant in the european theater. He saw so many guys wounded during WW2. He was drafted in the Army about 7 months before 12/7/1941. They were the Greatest Generation.
I’m 25 yo and I shed tears for all the courageous young men like me who fought a died for our nation. Their sacrifice will forever fuel my personal determination. To think we youth today have so much and so little gratitude it is truly shameful. God bless the families of those lost, those men I am eternally grateful for.
No matter what branch of the military you serve in, you are always compared to those who served in WW2. The soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who fought then is what we strive to be now. What a beautiful tribute to them. May God hold them close to him forever and ever.
My heart aches every time I hear this beautiful theme song. My dad was a WWIi and later Korean War vet while in the Navy. He passed in 2018 at the age of 92. As a family, we donated some of his memorabilia and collected artifacts to the WWII Museum in New Orleans where much of it is on display! We are so proud of him and honor all those who took up arms for this country!
Sad yet triumphant. My wife and I caught a bus in Florence which dropped us off at an American Soldier Cemetery outside of Florence. We started weeping over the rows of grave markers and continued as we walked. Many were labeled ‘known only to God’. That music captured our emotions.
I think Bill Guarnere put it best in his series comment ... "I'm just one small part of a big war - just one small part." I've always felt that Easy Company was a metaphor - a symbol - of all who served to defeat the evil that existed in the world at that time, on the battlefields, as well as at home. Easy Company was representative of all the men and women of all the Allied countries regardless of the role they played. That generation, comprised of the heroes of all those countries, was indeed a great generation. World War II to date was the greatest calamity in human history and that generation stood up to face it, courageously and with firm resolve and succeeded.
My father served in Milne Bay and Bougainville. He didn’t talk about the war much. He left Australia in the March of 1942 and returned home and discharged in the March of 1946. He camped for almost 4 solid years in a small tent, with a bamboo floor and the mud and rain was an ordeal for all of them. He had his 21st birthday in Milne Bay with his brother and two others in an outrigger canoe. Until after his passing away at 90 did I start to investigate his ordeal. He was tough and held an enormous respect for all who served. He never took us five kids camping over the holidays.
Dad served in the Navy stateside in aviation repair, uncle was on the Tennessee 42 till the end, great uncle was I the battle of the bulge. Elsenborn Ridge, Battle of Bulge. 12/26/44, “ no one dies on Christmas “.
I believe, almost without exception…this is the most understated, moving…and “emotionally descriptive” theme ever recorded. It’s only competition is the show itself.
As one of those who benefitted from the sacrifices of many, I say thank you. I have tried to always honour our veterans by living the best life I could. Thank You.
An incredibly beautiful song. When you hear it, it evokes such emotion and takes you to a place of gratefulness but also sadness at the many lives lost. So grateful for the service of our WW2 vets. The were truly the greatest generation. They understood the stakes and were willing to lay their lives down for a cause bigger than themselves. We as a nation owe them so much. 😢🙏
Great tribute to veterans from all the Allies who made the supreme sacrifice. That generation were made of stronger stuff than today’s snowflakes! May they rest in peace.
My grandfather was Army (WWI Cavalry). My father (WWII & Korea) and my father-in-law (WWII) and both my uncles were US Navy. And then me, CWO4, USN(Ret). The music is nice, but people should try and understand what "Band Of Brothers" really means to service members.
I'm in the band program at my school here in TX as a French Horn player (3rd year of doing it so far). My director today told me that Trevor Nuckols was also a Horn student of his in the beginner band years ago and I searched his name and found this. It's truly inspiring.
Thank you for the kind words. Please give my very best to Mr. Corcoran, he was and still is a huge inspiration for me - the epitome of a great teacher & human being - and the first person to ever introduce me to Dennis Brain! I owe him all of my gratitude. Cheers, Trevor Nuckols

That French Horn is awesome, great tone he has. I played French Horn for six years in Jr. and Sr. High School.

The best line from the lyrics (my opinion as a veteran) is “young men who died for old men’s wars…gone to paradise” Truth.
Someday, this world will come under the government of God, and there will be no more loss and no more death. Christ Jesus will wipe every tear away and there will be peace.
Yet most wars are as a result of religion…
