    I know it was in the interest of science and information, but oh boy, it was hard watching you break those boards. A very thorough and concise review. I did get a package from MACkite from your video and link earlier this summer and I swear I used your code and later I noticed it didn't have the bonus robe and so I contacted them and they said I hadn't used your code ( I swear I did) but were great folks and sent the robe and then shortly after, the whole package was on sale for $200 bucks off. I contacted them and they refunded me the difference. Great people to work with!

      Noah! I saw the same online, and even contacted Freedom to ask. They didn't mention that most had the pad, even though I saw the same. I would assume they would know. I assume that is a fairly easy fix too. Thanks for solving this one for me!

    Nice video Devon - love it. Couple quick things: 1) The Whip actually comes with a pad that you put on in that back foot area - either the hump or flat. It may have got stuck in the box. 2) Strength doesn't equal stiffness --- OR did you find that it did. For example - we typically find the dwarfcraft to have more flex due to the materials than the whip (carbon) but I love your break test (what an expensive test!). We've done riding tests (Whip vs. Dwarfcraft) with 10+ riders with the same outcome each time (preference of WHIP over dwarfcraft) for riders who are pumping and carving on material size waves. I've also had a couple (Susky boys in PA) who have stuck with the dwarfcraft because they don't pump a bunch so don't see the benefit.
    --> Did you get results based upon material (carbon vs. glass composite)?
    --> Did break test equal stiffness in pumping?
    All the best - Tim

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Tim! The breaking strength of Whip really surprised me. I was loving this board too, and assumed it was stiffest. But with so many people breaking Dwarfs, we now know that anything less than that breaking force we have to be careful with! 1) I figured the same, and FFB wasn't aware of this pad. Makes sense to me, 2) Most definitely strength doesn't equal stiffness. You can see during the breakage tests. Some were sudden and some were not. Regarding which was best for pumping, there's a sweet spot. Not too stiff and not too flexible. This is where we're diving into next. Thanks for the comment. I hope you're well!

    Thanks for all the videos and info. I've never done foiling before, but pump-foiling peaked my interest so I watched a lot of your videos.
    I was able to pick up a Liquid Force Nebula 3'8" coupled with a Slingshot FPump V1 for ~ $1,000 (online sales). That seemed to be the cheapest I could get into this sport, and I suspect it will suit me well based on your reviews. I'm gonna try foiling for the first time next weekend. I'll be dock launching with a friend. If I enjoy it, but find it too tiring, then I may also explore a DIY electric-assist option. I'm a unicyclist, and a pump foil seems a lot like a unicycle for the water to me.

    Great review! Would love to see the new Armstrong WKT board and the Exo Waters 3'6" boards included in future reviews as I think they would meet most of your positive criteria. Confirming what others have said - FFB Whip should come with option of "pump bump" or flat piece for the traction pad on the rear to fill that space.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Both boards will be in the next video. FFB sent me the board this way and I even asked about a pad for the space, and they were unaware. Darn! I have the pump bump and it’s too large for that spot without removing some of the existing decking. Thanks for the comment, Jason.

    I have been happy riding my Naish Hoverglude 112 cm. My only negative so far is that it is designed for KiteHydroFoil (ride at faster speeds) and I find I Wakefoil with the mast positioned at the furthest point forward in the tracks. I would like to see the tracks placed a little further forward or longer tracks in the board. This is something you didn’t comment on in your analysis

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. Thank you. We always placed the foil and the loading at the same distance relative to the foil track. Foil track placement does matter, but is something we can't control. I am seeing some newer boards have longer tracks, which will work really well for foils that have a short distance from the center of lift of the front wing to the mast/base plate.

    Many thanks!

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try running mast a bit more forward to reduce swing weight of the board. 1060 is a good pumping wing. Just try to stay higher on the mast. Drag goes way down on the 19mm thick mast when you keep most of it out of the water. Good luck!

      @emro2577 it will be just fine! Shorter and less volume is better for advanced riders.

    My thoughts on the tray 110 were identical. The nose rocker pushes your front foot too high. The tray 125 nose rocker rises in front of your front foot leaving the deck much flatter. It’s night and day better in that way and worth a second look.

    I don't have access to a boat so just want to learn dock starting. Any one of those boards stand out for that purpose only?

      From what I understand, Dwarf v2 is the same as v1, just different graphics. I haven’t tried Travelcraft but will do. Thanks.

      @@WakeThief awesome. There’s no content about how it does towing up behind the boat, and nothing about wake foil in their marketing. Curious if it’s only good for dock start or if it still works for wake foil. Same question about the slingshot puddle pumper.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @seththeskier small boards are generally tough to tow up, so I’d guess both are geared to pumping

      You’ll be fine. This sport isn’t easy, so it’s not like another board will shorten the learning curve by too much.

    • @evanwheeler7687
      @evanwheeler7687 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doesn't seem overpriced at all considering how much you'll use them and the materials they're made out of. The beginner packages are only $1k for everything you need and nicer sets get up around the $2.5k mark. You can get a whole package for the same price as a high end graphics card like a 4080 or 4090.
