I got goosebumps as well when Cris pointed out the families most likely knew each other. Cris' minister ancestor may have been the minister who presided over the wedding of Priscilla and John Alden. It's so important to not forget our ancestors, whom, if circumstances weren't right, would not have resulted in all of us being here as who we are now. We need to remember the pilgrims risked everything they knew for religious freedom, so that the Church of England couldn't dictate to them how to believe.

I too, am a Mayflower descendant ( 5 times ) one of whom was William Brewster. Not only did our relatives establish the country, they signed the first legal document in America, The Mayflower Compact. I am also directly descended from the Wampanoag Sachem, Massasoit thru a grand daughter of his that married an Englishman John Starkweather.

By the way I am in North Fort Myers and I've been to the Yellow Deli in Arcadia. Just out of curiosity I did some research and found some disturbing things about them. You might want to look it up.

A little extra research into the rock will reveal that it was bigger when the pilgrims arrived. Over the years people started to chisel pieces for their own foundations of their houses. It broke in half when they attempted to move it for a celebration. It was then determined to preserve it. All that history for a rock.

I was there in the 70s, but I don't remember the crack in Plymouth Rock... Edit: I found a picture my dad took and at the time the crack seems to have been cemented. Guess the cement wore off...

I just found your channel yesterday and I am so enjoying your trip! How cool to know you’re both descendants of the Mayflower 🙌🏻 It’s rumored my grandmother traced my dad’s family back to Oliver Cromwell - don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s an - interesting? - rumor 🙃

Oliver Cromwell lived in my town here in England. Lots of things are named after him

@craftingzoe Very cool! I should really look into this more to know if it’s true or not. My grandmother’s maiden name was Cromwell, so who knows? It does seem an odd claim to make to not have some relevance to it 🤔 I would very much like to visit England someday!

@CrazyCatLady1968 definitely look into it. Look up two towns in the UK. Huntingdon and St Ives in the county of Cambridgeshire to learn more about him
