I got goosebumps as well when Cris pointed out the families most likely knew each other. Cris' minister ancestor may have been the minister who presided over the wedding of Priscilla and John Alden. It's so important to not forget our ancestors, whom, if circumstances weren't right, would not have resulted in all of us being here as who we are now. We need to remember the pilgrims risked everything they knew for religious freedom, so that the Church of England couldn't dictate to them how to believe.
I’m a descendant of John and Priscilla Alden too! I’m going to Salem next month and will now make the trip to visit their resting place! Thx for the great video
I too, am a Mayflower descendant ( 5 times ) one of whom was William Brewster. Not only did our relatives establish the country, they signed the first legal document in America, The Mayflower Compact. I am also directly descended from the Wampanoag Sachem, Massasoit thru a grand daughter of his that married an Englishman John Starkweather.
Thank you so much for sharing your ancestry journey! I can’t imagine how extremely proud and amazed you guys must be. And the connection between you two, it’s as if it was destined for this reunion with the ancestors.❤❤❤
I just love the history in Massachusetts. I try to visit every fall. I’ve never seen Plymouth but after your vid now I must lol. Loved your Salem vids too man glad to see y’all there 😎✌️
This is actually an amazing story!!! Hope you’re not cousins! :) jk no but seriously- that’s pretty incredible to find out that your ancestors knew each other!!! That’s just crazy!
We're related. I too am a descendant of John and Priscilla. I about died when you mentioned you were related to them. You did a fun, fact-filled and respectful video. Thanks buddy!
Jay...we are related! John and Priscilla Alden are my ancestors on my paternal grandmother's side. (I also remember hearing that John Adams was a descendant.) Thanks so much for sharing!
Another awesome video and touring the cemetery for the passengers of the Mayflower and the nice old houses have a nice weekend and Thank You Jay and Cris.🇺🇲🏘🪦🏘🇺🇲
I’m an Adams, born and raised in MA and still here. I’m a descendant of Stephen Hopkins, who came over on the Mayflower. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else besides New England 😊
My son and i went to Plymouth yesterday for the first time. We went to Sleepy Hollow, NY on the same trip. We were blown away by Plymouth! Ancestors: John Howland, Elizabeth Tilley, and Richard Warren
Really wild your ancestors knew each other and came over on the Mayflower together, very small world it's always interesting to me how things like that happen.
Hey Jay, as you stated we are related in some form. I too have the Alden's in my family tree. John was my great grandfather of husband of 1st cousin 8x removed. Safe travels to both of you.
Tampa Jay and Cris I was born in Plymouth Mass. we are descended from Myles Standish according to a family researcher. Great video! Duxbury is now called Deluxe-Bury because rich people live there. Go Rays!
This is cool! I've been wanting to check this place out. Starting to learn more about my family tree. So I'm starting to find connections to Edward Fuller (12x Great Grandfather), John Howland (11th Great Uncle), Peter Browne (11th Great Uncle). While my husband may have connections to Brewster (his 10th great grandfather), to Alden (10th Great Uncle) along with a few others. Again, thanks for posting the video. :)
This was fascinating! I’m loving all of these New England videos, especially Salem. Thanks for sharing. I suggest also doing some research on the Yellow Deli where you ate, I saw them on a documentary about cults. Big yikes. But interesting.
Another awesome video! It's so neat that you and Cris both have researched your ancestors and are there, checking out the people and the locations. Thank you both for sharing, and taking us along on this journey. Hugs 🤗 and safe travels 🙏
Hi Tampa Jay and Chris the girl it's Saturday teatime over here in Nottingham in England 🇬🇧 just watched another great video of yours Jay can't wait to watch the next one thanks for taking us with you love you both happy Saturday from Michelle 😊😅😂❤❤❤❤
Oh, this is just incredible Jay! Fascinating stuff, some of those old names are fantastic haha so dignified. I so appreciate you taking us on this journey with you! ❤
This has one of your best videos yet. I love history and it's fascinating to see people related to some of the earliest settlers in our country. By the way I am in North Fort Myers and I've been to the Yellow Deli in Arcadia. Just out of curiosity I did some research and found some disturbing things about them. You might want to look it up. I've been there twice and the food is really good but after research, I WON'T GO THERE NOW.
When you go back to MA check out the Wayside Inn in Sudbury Mass. It was visited by HWL who wrote the famous “Tales of a Wayside Inn”. The Inn is also famous for it’s ghost Jerusha Howe. You can stay in the room she haunts. My wife and I stayed in that room just before COVID hit and received a visit from Jerusha in the middle of the night.
I am also a Mayflower descendant. George Soule is definitely my many times Great-Grandfather and a signer of the Mayflower Compact, with others that I haven't pinned down yet. So we probably are related to each other. So, hi, cousin! You and Cris both! Thank you for showing Grandpa's headstone, that got me!!
A little extra research into the rock will reveal that it was bigger when the pilgrims arrived. Over the years people started to chisel pieces for their own foundations of their houses. It broke in half when they attempted to move it for a celebration. It was then determined to preserve it. All that history for a rock.
Say hello to my 8th great grandfather, Constant Southworth. Funny side note: I grew up in Brewster MA, lol. Have a blast! Try to get some beach plum taffy or jelly while you're up there. 😁
Yellow Deli is a nice spot! The employees are so sweet. The Taco restaurant near by is good too! Next time you're up here.. my husband & I would love to show you around. We live your videos!
Fabulous that we are getting a TJ and/or CTG video almost every day. Thankful for you both and appreciate all of the hard work that goes into creating/editing these videos.👏
Very interesting video again, Tampa Jay and Cris (I enjoy when you two are together). While we don't get to choose who we descend from, it's always good to know our ancestry and family history. Thank you for sharing. You guys are having an amazing summer. Edited to add, this is such a pretty town. Amazing views.
I reside just down the road from the home site of John Howland in the Rocky Nook section of Kingston MA. I grew up with descendants of William Brewster and numerous other Mayflower descendants in Plymouth
