Graham was tattooing Jackson and was winning every second of the fight, very good technical fighter. But, this is boxing where one punch changes everything no matter how much good work one guy puts in.

Levels may reveal the man yes, but it was a lack of concentration from Graham, and over confidence, that led to this catastrophic defeat. I believe that had he continued just to box and be careful, just scoring points, Graham would have won easily! However, that's not what happened! It is just a bit reassuring that Herol got a very good round of applause at the end because the crowd knew how well Herol has boxed.

@Ian Whitehead I believe you should stick to watch jake paul! You don't know shit about boxing. The ingle gym was all about hit and not get hit and he got caught by one of the hardest punchers in boxing! Not because he was over confident but Jackson timed him and herol walked straight into it. BTW you think mayweather was not over confident ? All fighter believe they are the best or you may aswell stay at home..🤡🤡🤡🤡

I’m a fan of Jackson but I hadn’t saw this fight. For me, he was painfully outboxed (he never was because he had technique too), but in this one he looks really amateur. He didnt hit the face of graham in the first two rounds. In this particular fight, I think the fact that he hits hard was the only advantage he had. And he used when needed. For me, in this fight he shows he is just a puncher. Box is like this. One punch changes everything.

Herol boxed superbly in this fight but he shouldn't have tried to knock Jackson out. He created his own downfall; a tragic shame! Jackson's knockout punch of Graham I think is one of the greatest in the history of boxing, superbly timed punch. The crowd applauded both boxers; a superb knockout punch counterbalanced by a demonstration of superb boxing skills albeit ultimately punished by trying to be too clever!!! Herol got arrogant really one might say. This fight will be watched for years for its contrasting epic spectacles, a spectacular knockout in contrast to superb boxing skills!!!! What a magnificent but cruel sport boxing is!!!!

I think that, at the end of the day, your pedigree is shown by your track record; 56 fights, 48 wins 6 defeats for Herol Graham. Herol was a 3 weight champion, 3 times World title contender, a world top 10, indeed top 5, fighter.. but not a World Champion tragically. Herol Graham, and I am a huge fan of his because at his best he was superb to watch in the ring, lost to World Champions, apart from Frank Grant,; Michael McAllum who was arguably Graham's best opponent, Sumbu Kalambay, Julian Jackson and Charles Brewer. Julius Jackson's knockout punch was perfectly timed, a superb punch, but all Herol had to do was keep on his bike for the rest of that round and I believe he would won easily; but that's not what history shows and his decision making, which is the mental part of the sport, in this instance was poor. World Super Middleweight International Champion, European Middleweight Champion, European Light Middleweight Champion, British and Commonwealth Middleweight as well as Light Middleweight Champion, reads far better than his defeats. Furthermore, he beat quality opponents in Vinnie Pazienza, Chris Johnson, Ayub Kalule, Mark Kaylor and Rod Douglas. His 2nd fight against Sumbu Kalambay is a very worthy mention because I believe Herol narrowly won that fight because he put Kalambay down on the canvas with a clever punch and that referee was THE worst that I have ever seen. This fight took place after the Jackson defeat and Herol can be proud of going over to Italy and going 12 rounds like that, a quality performance (the referee raised Herol's hand incorrectly before raising Kalambay's and that is disgraceful,). Finally, the title of the greatest defensive boxer Britain has ever produced must go to Herol and he can proud of the titles that he won, beating world class opponents and demonstrating sporting skill and entertainment of an extremely high standard. Thank you for the memories Herol.

Yeah they were stablemates, both from Sheffield, the Brendan Ingle camp. All the Ingle boxers fought in a similar way, wide stance, hands down, lots of head and body movement, good strength and a fair bit of rough stuff that often went unnoticed - shoves, pushes etc all to throw off the opponent's balance and get them frustrated. Famously no head punches in sparring, which may explain the chin-up style they both had. When the fighter had superior speed, reflexes and (in Hamed's case power) the style could be extremely effective.

Graham left his chin untucked Numerous times during this fight once he closed Jackson’s eye. he just finally got caught. Rewatch the fight it wasn’t just one split second mistake he got overconfident long before that.
Herol “bomber” Graham Was unconscious on the mat for an alarming five minutes. Boxing is a dangerous brutal sport resulting in many injuries/deaths over the years and Graham was lucky he ever regained his senses.
Julian Jackson proved he is one of the top five hardest hitters in the sport of boxing with that punch. If you look at it carefully he just winged it out of nowhere he was moving backwards he had no leverage and he wasn’t even setting himself up planted for a power shot. Tommy Hearns could not of executed that punch nor could’ve Marvin Hagler or Gerald McClellan or any other slugger you can think of

Graham was the better boxer. He definitely had the better speed, reaction time and footwork. He fought exactly as one is supposed to fight against a slower, bigger and more powerful puncher. The bout was going his way so consistently, he got overconfident for just one second.

Yes you are right Aseem, but it was that split second, with Graham's chin hanging in the air, that cost him the fight. One devastating right hand, and the rest is history!

Sucks to be known as the best to never win a title when there have been countless champions who weren't very good and gifted favorable matchups when they won theirs. And although you always need to be weary regardless of how the fight is going, Jackson was one of those guys who no matter how bad he's getting beat his opponent ALWAYS had to be cautious. Every second of every round you have to be weary because you will be winning one second and wondering what happened the next. Well, maybe not the next second exactly, more like the next second in which you're conscious, which could be a while since the last lol

Agree...although Graham was having things his own way so much it seemed ok at the time to press for the win. I remember thinking "youve got him"...but yeah, with a two handed puncher like that you can never take liberties. Ironically British fighters benefitted most from the proliferation of world titles from the mid 80s onwards...got to be honest about that. Wont name names out of respect but before that time we hardly had more than 1 world champ at a time, and when we did they didnt stick around, rarely putting more than 1 succesful defence together...conteh and watt...thats about it

Julian had the “KO of the Year” in three straight years without ever being awarded. Drayton in 88, Norris in 89, and this one in 90. Julian was criminally overlooked over his career. He is the hardest puncher in history and the most exciting fighter in history. Yet, it took TH-cam and the internet to get him truly recognized for what he contributed to the sport, decades later.

It turns out that the Referee and the Doctor was giving Jackson one more round and if Herol Graham had just Boxed from distance he would have been the knew WBC MIiddleweight champion of the World so close but so far..

The story of the boxer you laugh at is he was a British,European and Commonwealth Champion Middleweight undefeated for 8 years as a pro. Known as a defensive genius. He had lost 2 very narrow decisions to hall of famers prior to this knockout. He is Herol Graham and known as one of the best fighters Britain ever produced. Thats his story. He is presently in a mental health hospital due in no small part to the effects this knockout had on his brain. You must be a very sick puppy and all round loser and arrsehole in life to laugh and mock.
