Beautiful car. The fact that it’s numbers matching and you have the original paperwork is just awesome.

That car is beautiful. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 340hp. You can do a lot with that if the engine is breathing, good fuel delivery, and you got a good transmission and diff gears. An original just like yourself. The badass factor is the fact that it was the first of a revolutionary (marketed) concept. I’m a Mopar guy but dang I respect older GMs. 👍

If you look at a website for after market radiators or water pumps. They usually explain engine temp and how to do math it out. But running an engine cold will kill it.

Good stuff Pat, I was waiting to hear you say what GTO stood for ( Gran Turismo Omologato) as everytime I ask someone they don't know or guess wrong. I grew up around cars, my dad had a 72 GTO 455 H.O. with the ram air hood, she was an ass kicker. Your car is very nice and clean, it's cool to see originals.

Awesome ‘65! Back in the ‘90s, when I was a broke kid just out of High School, I stopped at one of those tiny roadside used car dealerships in San Jose, Ca that had a ‘65 Le Mans that was built into a GTO. I still vividly remember the incredible experience of the dealer starting her up as she rumbled to life. I’ve wanted a ‘65 GTO ever since. I just love those stacked headlights on the ‘65 too.

What a beautiful ride. My first car was a 69 Cougar and as a welder , I have helped restore a few Classics over the years. These original muscle cars were made when stuff was made to last. My great uncle had the first Mustang that was brought to NC. It had less than 4000 miles on it when he sold it in the 80’s. Thank you for showing Charlotte to us. She’s been the background for quite a few of your videos and I figured that you would do a video highlighting her at some point. Kudos to you for keeping the old girl real. Much love to you all 🤙🤙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Pat Mac… what a tremendous video!! Thanks so much for posting. You hit a nerve and rattled my memories. Thought you’d appreciate-
My sophomore year of high school, 1979. Just got my driver’s license. Step- father was an AMC car salesman. One evening he comes home from work with a 1965 Pontiac Le Mans, and hands me the keys.
My punk, immature , ungrateful self exclaims “I’m not driving an “old ladies car”. So my step dad says fine, I’ll take it back to the lot and you can continue to ride the bus to school. Big wake-up call moment for me. I apologized profusely and acquiesced! He gave me the keys back. I would own that Le Mans through my high school and early college days. So many awesome memories with her ( although I never named her- ha). 326 - two-barrel- two speed. I did a repaint on her; removed the badges; many would say.. Hey, nice GTO !! I would just wink and say thanks.

Very nice. I had a ‘68 GTO that I found in Arizona. Fairly rough, got it running. Sold in ‘08 before the economy went south. Still a fun ride and project that I wish I could’ve kept. 400/ 4-bbl/ 3-speed with a front vinyl bench seat. Oh, about about 7 different colors of primer. LoL.

I know you hate the resto-mod, but there's no way I could keep a powerglide in there! I'd be swapping that thing for a three pedal setup with a beefy manual transmission! You already swapped the exhaust manifolds for the headers, so just go a little farther.... ;)

Beautiful Muscle car, Pat. My Dad had one, back in 70's, was cruising down highway, engine caught fire, no fire extinguisher, so we had to rip our shirts off, to extinguish. He got rid of it, not sure what caused fire. Fun car to drive in, the engine was like Godzilla to me, at 8 years old, strong/ powerful

I hate restomods, too. The stocker those classics are, the better! You should consider coming down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for Cruising the Coast in October. One of the biggest classic car gathering in the country. It lasts a week. Unfortunately, I sold my classic Galaxie a few years ago, but it's a fun event.
