The honor and respect we give to an image does not stop to the image (...in whatever it is made of) but the person being represented by it. To remind us by the vitues and saintly lives they follow and practice. And how they strive to be perfect...following what Christ commanded us..." Be perfect as the father in heaven is perfect." As Catholics we do not treat these images as gods or as a replacement of God. You can read Exodus 25:18 and Numbers 21:8-9. Read the official teachings of the Catholic Church and you will find how we treat these images.

The statue itself has no power, neither does the ones of Jesus or the cross, it is what they represent and how they can help bring people to faith. Pastor Jennings maybe should study up on the early church and how the word was passed down for hundreds of years as mostly a verbal, not written method. Few could read until modern times. Something becomes an idol once you start to worship the thing, not using a sacramental as a teaching aid, and yes like everything else sacramentals are turned into idols. Sunday youth sports and pro sports like the NFL are common idols, but never preached against, maybe start with what an idol is. Mary is a wonderful example of blessings that come from total submission to the will of God.

I’m a Southern Baptist and hear my family members insult Catholicism all of the time, or make extremely ignorant accusations. When I try to explain the nuances of my Christian brethren so that others around me at least have respect, they shut down. I can’t even have a conversation with my family, or church family over this. I’m left disappointed. I’m not questioning my stance and love for Christendom, I’m questioning the prideful, vicious ignorance I see regularly. Why don’t we discuss the history of the Church? Are we really just going to ignore 1700+ years of Christian history? We treat them like a separate species, why? I grieve for Christianity and the division Satan has sowed within us.

I am a Roman Catholic Christian since birth because my parents were pure Roman Catholic as it is our Main Religion here in the Philippines and our place Cebu is set of the cradle of Christianity here in the Philippines. So in connection with this, i would like to share that being a Catholic Christian honestly when i was still a kid since college i kneel down and pay respect to every statue in the church as representation of all the saints and also God. So during that time our eldest brother is already converted a Born Again Christian and turned Pastor. Then when i graduated college and then i started reading bible so from then my faith and belief gradually change & twisted and i don't kneel and worship statue anymore but i am still remain being Roman Catholic Christian until now. I have a principles in life that i will still remain as a Catholic Christian but i don't worship idols. I have to follow what is right for me as long i worship the true God Jesus Christ and as long i am doing good not to hurt others, not to cheat others and not to envy others because i believe that no religion can save us. The most important to me is that i worship the real God in heaven which Jesus Christ and my good deeds. I respect the rights and feelings of others in a good way if they are doing good and showing things which is good in the eyes of God. I don't respect and idolize LGBTQ because based on my observation here in the Philippines during their pride parade most of them immitate Demons and worship demons by their costumes & Behaviors. So i don't respect them. It's also ok for me if they don'te respect me. It is ok for me as long i'm not doing the same thing like their pride parade worshiping Satan. There is only one thing I know... i will always keep a picture of my mother to help me remember and refresh my memory of her gently smile. She has lived in this world just live God has physically. She left this world in Christ and I believe that she lives in him for ever.
