    Good Evening Tom. Just ran into this series about a week after I got my 7300 and I wish to congratulate you on a superb series on this rig. For us old fellows, 76+ we have a tendency to be stubborn and hard headed and only use certain things on the rig. In the few I have watched you have rekindled the old fire of Amateur Radio again. Thanks for vids and keep them coming. I may get to see them all if I do not loose my fire:-) Best 73 Mike N4JOJ

      Thanks Mike. I hope you enjoy the rig and the fire stays lit. 73, Tom

    Great video. The manual does not spell this out at all. The asterisk is the key to making the serial number sequence work.

    I think you might have missed a little bit. At 8:32 you indicate that the final option for the format of the cut numbers is 90->NO. However this is just the last option on page 1 of 2. There is a second page that you don't select.
    In my modest contesting experience, a 9 is cut to an N and a 0 is cut to a T. I don't think cutting a 0 to an O is used all that often . 73 Fred VK2WS

    Hi,
    A is .-
    1 is .----
    So, the ---- is compressed into -
    Same as for 9 which is ----.
    and if the ---- is compressed into - so, is same as -. which is N.
    If I am wrong, do correct me..

      I saw your email and replied Terry. Not sure what the problem might be.

    Incremental -1 is also good if your message has to be repeated because your qso partner did not get it.

    This CW keyer memory that you show in the initial (beginning around 0:45) entry, seems pretty darned cool -- as it allows you to type it in. Does the IC-705 have this same feature? Ability to type it in? I've looked all over the place for an answer and can't find anything. Do you know?
    Thanks,
    Glen W8YP

      Hi Glen. Yes. The IC-705 keyed memories operate exactly the same way. You press the MENU button and the Keyer memory functions are the top, center choice on menu page 1. You won’t see the KEYER option unless the rig is in CW mode.

    How do we set up the 7300 to decode CW?

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  ปีที่แล้ว

      The IC-7300 does not have any internal/native ability to decode CW. You could connect it to a PC and you software to decode CW. There are a number of programs available that can decode CW. I have played with this a little bit using FLDigi with mixed results. I do not have any experience with any other CW decoding software.

    Curious if you can chain the memories together, i.e. pushing M1 that links to M2, can it play them both with one key push ?

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know of any way to make it do that. There aren’t any “command codes” to put in a memory that would make this work.

    How do you send the memory by just pushing the button? i get really tired and would love to push one button to give a signal report or call CQ. Mine beeps but won’t actually transmit on freq. thanks!

      You have to have the radio in Semi-Break in or Full-Break in mode. Press the VOX/BK-IN button until you see either BKIN or F-BKIN below and to the left of the frequency readout. Then it will automatically key when you touch the memory buttons.

    Sorry, but often, when you moved your hand into the scene, the camera refocused on your hand and would only focus on the radio when you moved your hand away - and the refocus time was a bit long.

      @HamRadioA2Z  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jacques. I’m sorry about that. I usually focus the camera on the radio and set it to manual focus just for that reason. I must have accidentally left it in auto when I recorded that segment.
