since everyone is leaving sweet comments about the oxford diaries, let me also do the same) dear Jing, my name is Meruyet. i'm from Kazakhstan. this year I got accepted into university in Italy to get Master's degree. throughout the whole year i was applying to different universities, passed a foreign language exam, submitting my transcripts etc. it was hard, it was not easy at all, i would suddenly burst out crying thinking "what am i gonna do if i don't get accepted? i spent so much time, money and put so much effort". and while i was doing all these things, THE ONLY THING that helped me to stay motivated, think positively, and relax from a stressful day was your videos. I was also amazed by these small moments in your videos when you talk about your uni experience, especially about the opportunities that your parents didn't have, I relate to this so much. as a person whose parents worked day and night to provide for their children as much as possible, i felt your words very deeply and i feel this gratitude towards them but also a bit of sadness that they don't see this beauty with me. I didn't expect your videos to be so packed with life lessons, and it hit home for me. Your experiences and words resonate with me because, like you, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and figuring out how to mind my own business.
One scene that really stuck with me was when you reserved a table for yourself to have dinner. It might seem simple, but it spoke volumes. I love how you just went for it. dear Jing, my name is Meruyet. i'm from Kazakhstan. this year I got accepted into university in Italy to get Master's degree. throughout the whole year i was applying to different universities, passed a foreign language exam, submitting my transcripts etc. it was hard, it was not easy at all, i would suddenly burst out crying thinking "what am i gonna do if i don't get accepted? i spent so much time, money and put so much effort". and while i was doing all these things, THE ONLY THING that helped me to stay motivated, think positively, and relax from a stressful day was your videos.
I was also amazed by these small moments in your videos when you talk about your uni experience, especially about the opportunities that your parents didn't have, I relate to this so much. as a person whose parents worked day and night to provide for their children as much as possible, i felt your words very deeply and i feel this gratitude towards them but also a bit of sadness that they don't see this beauty with me.
Jing, I wish you all the best. You are a very hardworking, inspiring, beautiful soul. Thank you for everything.
