Demellier‘s hardware is so so bad. It scratches just by looking at it. I am really disappointed. I bought the Vancouver in bordeaux box leather and after the first wear - boom. I never ever had such bad hardware on a bag. I mean it looks gorgeous, but the quality is terrible. And it is impossible to close the bag when it is not fully stuffed. The leather instead seams to be good. Atelier Auguste is top notch with its hardware, for example. And even Songmont is doing well. I love the Polene bags, I have the Tonca, the Un and the Neuf. But: I wished they were a bit bigger, and because of the design it is hard to get into the bags. Beautiful, but not a bit practical. At least there will be no issues to grab into the Cyme. When I have decided about the color (it is not easy!) it will be my next bag.
I bought my Cyme bags a couple years ago and agree with you about preferring a more premium leather option. The two thin straps that you called a "belt detail" can be crossed over each other to make the bag more secure, so they are functional. I found this out by reading the how-to guide card that came with the packaging. Whatever the coating is, makes the bag more impermeable to the elements, and I'm not afraid to use it in the rain.
great review! I like the honesty in this. So many of the YT bag reviews seem to just promote for the brand, rather than an honest review. MUCH appreciate this!
Had the mini and sold it as the size was too awkward and the clasp didn't stay closed. Also the thin straps were not strong especially when the stitching came apart after using the bag twice. Was happy to sell it on.
I have this bag that I got a couple of years ago as a gift. It works out great for me as I don’t ever carry too many things with me. For the price I think it’s a great bag.
I have this exact caramel regular size one and I love it. I get compliments everywhere! ☺️ I use it all the time as it goes with everything. I prefer Polène to DeMellier because it is A LOT LESS HEAVY! My friend has a DeMellier and it weighs a tons with nothing in it and it’s beyond ridiculous how heavy it gets with something in it. I never fill my Cyme that much but I filled it quite a bit when I go shopping and it remains light. The straps are quality and I don’t worry about breaking them. It is true that they could have done a better job at separating them. I also watched Tanner Leatherstein who deconstructed it and described that bag as quality and he said that the price is very reasonable for the quality we get which is great to know. The only minus for me is that one of the sides falls lower to the other side now so it looks more like an hexagon but still beautiful. I got compliments at the LV and the Dior stores from the sales associates which was surprising. 😁 In any case, this is a great bag and I am thinking about getting another color (taupe). Great review! Thank you! 😊
@@Handbagholic Thank you for the quick response. Also, thinking about getting a Lalage Maya but can't decide between midi and large. Thoughts? Thank you.
I got the regular size Cyme bag in color taupe in Japan in August and I like it a lot. The price is affordable and tax free in Japan if you’re a tourist. Make sure you always bring your passport.
Any experience or thoughts on Parker Thatch? I keep looking at this Polene bag but haven’t pulled the trigger. Something about the bag is off putting but I can’t quite figure out what it is I don’t care for. Lol
I have been wanting one for awhile but the line was too long when I was in paris. Looks like a great work bag and I dont have to use my neverfull everyday anymore.
oh you got bad luck with the camel colored, I got mine almost 2 years ago on the reg size the camel as well its beautiful but si have not worn it once 🤣 I have not found the opportunity to wear probably now is more trendy I will wear it your video inspired me to wear it! hopefully holds up well lol
Informative review. I have the large camel one in my cart (no store in my country) as a result of your review. I snapped up the Coach Merlot Empire 40 last Thursday in store (sold out the next day country wide I heard), a fab work bag, and the ombre colour........picture Homer Simpson drooling........the Cyme would make a great swap out work bag. I have more high end bags, but none that are functional work bags. I research my bags, and think the pros outweighs the cons for the Cyme. Ok, off now to pull the purchase trigger
I really like the look of the different silhouettes that I’ve seen reviewed here on youtube. The organic shapes that they have styled these handbags in appeal to my esthetic for the most part. I tend to overstuff my handbags, so I don’t know if I would have similar problems that you encountered during this review, Steph. But I believe the smaller size would work best for me and I would use a regular tote bag for my tablet, etc. It’s what I do on the daily. I really enjoyed this, so thanks for sharing.
Hi Steph. I have the Cyme mini and I use small pouches to organise the content. You can also find organizers designed for this bag with multiple pockets. I mainly use the bag with the long straps and put the short ones inside. I do not put heavy items since I am not sure the straps would resist long. Not the most practical bag, but I really like the shape.
Yes the kit will be coming very soon - you can sign up to hear about it when it's released here: NEW Handbagholic 3-step leather care kit COMING SOON 👉 bit.ly/4eNtFqA I use it on most of my leather bags, with exception for suede and any exotic leather.
@@miemaxwell-smith1205 it was Emma Anders…she downsized her collection and said her viewers thought the bag looked like a pair of pants and she couldn’t “unsee” it after that 🤣 I agree with you 🤣
Love the silhouette. Had the mini camel cyme. It was gorgeous but wasn’t crazy about the “leather” and the straps were a little annoying. Sometimes I wish I would have kept it because it costs a bit more now. Really wish they would release it in different leather types. 😊
Thank you for the review. I've been wondering about this bag for quite awhile now. I think all the four handles spilling all over getting in my way would drive me nuts. Do you have a video of best work bags? Would love to know your opinions on this!
I’ve had the large Cyme tote for a while now for work and while it definitely gets the job done and I am able to carry what I need in it, i do wish the closure was a bit more secure and that it stood up on its own better as it tends to just fall over all the time . the straps are probably the least bothersome aspect of this bag, but aesthetically, the straps do leave something to be desired …
Love your videos and of course the spectacular bag collection you have! It will be great to have your opinion on the De Mellier New York tote. Greetings from Buenos Aires ❤️
So I have 5 Polene bags And I sold the Cyme. I originally bought it as a tote for travel and it doesn’t work well on a plane. It falls over a lot. But I didn’t like the feel of the bag and now I know why. I couldn’t put my finger on it but the material just didn’t seem as nice as my other Polene bags.
Is Micro suede similar to Halston’s ultra suede? I believe LVMH bought an interest in Polene. Beautiful bags but seem awkward. Bummer the bags had the flaws and will assume that’s a one off. Bad timing for Polene. Great review!
I have not purchased one of these bags but thank you for reviewing both sizes and giving your honest feedback on the leather coating & interior. I do own Demellier bags and like their various styles & quality of leather. I find it odd on both of your Polene bags there were some kind of marks or something on them. That says something about quality and I hope you exchanged the larger size. Thank you for reviewing this brand I have been watching them but did not purchase and will probably not now after your video. 😊❤️
A TH-camr described the shape as someone’s bottom. Now, I can’t unsee it!! I bought a different bag from Polene - the strap length wasn’t as stated on their site and overall not great quality. Returning it wasn’t easy; it took messaging Polene on social media repeatedly.
Thank you for showing a true unboxing! It was disappointing to see how some of those marks made it through that they still shipped it out. I’m now concerned with their QA process.
I am looking at the new Polene Nodde Hobo - I live in another state and the New York store does not answer the phone and don’t respond to my request on Chat - I have ?’s about the delivery and returns - are we supposed to just order online without getting answers? have you seen the Nodde small shoulder bag and the new Hobo? What do you think?
Cyme bag - not a fan of the silhouette. Don't like the belt things on the sides. While having two length of straps seems great in theory, when using one set of straps, the other straps are just there, hanging in the way. And when the sides are "out," not a fan of that shape. Overall, I just don't care for it. 😂The smaller version is cute, but still, not a fan of the silhouette.
The design of the bag looks like a big pair of pants & I can't unsee that now 😁. Also I think the straps on the side are to assist in pulling the side of the bag out, enjoy💜
Just FYI: The sides of the bag fall down a bit after use and it looks more like an hexagon (like the Neverfull when cinched in) than the shape it originally comes in. I get compliments all the time on mine (even from the LV and Dior sales associates 😁) I personally love it bc it looks great, good quality, and not as “in your face” as the LV. I still totally love LV though! ❤️
Thanks for your review! I found this bag to be a total annoyance for the reasons you mentioned. The quality was seriously lacking and so too was the customer service. I sold the thing in the end as I was so fed up with the whole Polene experience.
U r speaking about the quality. At least at the end ubr playing a way less then other brands who has a massive quality Issues and we r playing a waybway more. And in think lv one of them
Customer service seems to be crap while they’re expanding and cheapening the products overall, but what turned me against the brand was seeing the iffy stitching on in another review, and the nightmare and huge expense of a return. Besides these issues, I never purchased because I really need one between these two sizes.
I would suggest any potential customers to get a different tote. I just got my cyme mini early this month, and I will never purchase Polene bags. The quality is bad. It's like they don't have quality control. Mine has peeling leather in the corner of the pouch, and my strap holes look so so poorly made.
The concept is nice with folding to be big or small - I just can’t unsee that the overall shape looks like a nappy or large ladies pants when it’s folded in.🫣😂
i love the design of the cyme so beautiful & unique but they have gotten SO popular. where i live i see them more than neverfulls now! im worried that because they’ve blown up so much and so quickly within the past couple years they might soon become dated in a few years esp since it’s such a unique design

Thanks for the review, i don't carry that much stuff, so I definitely think the mini is a great purse size versus larger the tote soze

The Carmel and it’s still

It looks like a pair of underpants.
I could not find any information about Polene opening a shop in Hamburg. Do you know more about it?

Could you please review your Ferragamo hug black and red inside, that I see on your shelf, thank you 🙏🏻

Gutted that the black cherry colour is sold out! Might go for the camel one. Starting a new job soon so want a decent bag ❤
Were you able to exchange the regular due to the visible mark in the front?

Nice bag but what’s stopping me from buying is the the 2 danggling straps on the sides which is a bit annoying just like crab legs😂
haha, oh now I can't unsee that! Yeah the straps are messy which lets the bag down for sure

I bought the Cyme and I am not a fan. Everything falls out of the bag if you let go one strape.
What is the suede looking bag on the bottom left of the shelf 😂
the dark red / plum one? That's normal leather and the Ferragamo Hug bag (medium size)
His name Tanner Leatherstein
Your very beautiful in this vedt dress, cos your shoulder and arms are looking nice.❤
Super cute bag! However for a tote you can’t really put as many things as I’d like to carry. I’ll pass
