      Hence why the Muslim world is so focused on Gaza against a likewise geostrategically vulnerable Israel, but conveniently ignores the Uyghurs who are like 5x more in population and don’t enjoy an well armed and organized resistance movement.

      @@doujinflip Not really. If normal everyday muslims knew what was happening I believe everyone would be highly opposed to "that". Problem is that "politicians" are getting paid to hide the truth. No media company publishes any news about this as far as I know. So for a muslim to know about this they have to have good enough english skills and know where to look. Very rare to see those people.

      Upon seeing this on my feed I explained it to my girlfriend. She had no idea. I also said that we only care about genocide when it is happening in Europe. I'm not saying Israel is in the right. From my perspective, Benjamin Netanyahu is an Israeli ultranationalist that needs to go. But the larger situation is very nuanced. You get Muslim minorities discriminated against in countries like China and Russia all the time, but because they aren't "Western nations," the attitude is pretty much "meh" seemingly even from the mainstream Muslim community.

    • @hagridstan
      @hagridstan 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another reason I think is American hypocrisy. I’m obviously no way in hell defending China’s actions but the USA have been responsible for so many wars and genocides in Muslim countries. They clearly don’t care about the rights of Muslims so to some, they don’t have the right to criticise China’s treatment of the Uyghurs and they just see it as American propaganda against China. It’s an utter bullshit excuse. Both China and the USA are evil.

      It is frustrating.
      It is easy to find proof that certain countries aren't just trying to counter videos like this but actively make Western populations more susceptible to alternative views.
      For instance you will find many of the tiktokers and such that put out videos like 'ancient Antartic civilization covered up' or 'proof of aliens!' etc. etc. can be linked back to suspicious countries (namely Russia) - not always directly but sometimes just by generating AI content that these creators can use or the original idea for example.
      It feels like they're trying to persuade people that the 'mainstream' can't be trusted and that you should look towards fringe groups for your information.
      Basically creating populations that are less likely to believe reputable outlets and more likely to believe alternative facts from unverified sources.
      It's doubly frustrating because there is a kernel of truth, the West is not perfect, sometimes there are authorities with ulterior motives or coverups, propaganda light and biased news outlets BUT you would have to be blind to not see how absolutely and totally morally corrupt these bad actors are compared to the West.
      It's like comparing a regular guy who got drunk, drove home and killed somebody and a serial killer without remorse that has killed dozens.

      There is 0 evidence of Uyghur genocide except for some ET Uyghurs stories. ET is a terrorist group and ET Uyghurs are Islamic radicals. China at worst out some radicals into schools to teach them Chinese language, law, and professional skills, based on the idea that if one has a job and stable life, he is less subject to religious extremism. Xinjiang is a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international travelers. Uyghurs are witnessed to have normal lives there, happily dancing in every park and plaza. Gaza is what a genocide looks like. Large amount of videos of body counts, especially women and children, refugee camps, dangerous situations in which hundreds of journalists and aid workers got killed. The fact that the west claim there is a Uyghur genocide with 0 evidence but there is not a Palestinian genocide demonstrates that it is all about political agenda and the west never really cares about justice, human rights and human lives. Forget how they lied about Iraq WMD? They lied about Iraq, they lied about Libya, they invaded those countries and killed civilians themselves, and they continue sending weapons to Israel to be used to kill civilians. You think they care about Uyghur Muslims? They care more about their weapon sales.

    When it’s America and Israel in Gaza mistreating Muslims it’s genocide (according to their critics).
    When it’s Russia in Afghanistan (1979-1989), Chechnya (1994-96, 1999-2009) or China in Xinjiang it isn’t genocide (because US and Israeli critics too often have their ideological biases). Russia is also committing cultural genocide in Ukraine.
    I’ve never seen or heard of widespread protests against Russia (after the first months of invading Ukraine) and China, or University encampment in solidarity with Uyghurs, Ukrainians and Chechens. Certainly not in the spoiled, out of touch West (where I live).
    As others have pointed out you don’t see protests and outrage by Arab countries, or their masses, in solidarity with the Uyghurs either. A lot of this is probably due to the Arab dictatorships’ propaganda and state media, but much of it is their ideological biases against the US and Israel (which don’t apply to Russia and China).
    I get people have their slants, but to ignore it completely, or to justify it due to garbage C CP propaganda, or because they hate America and Israel more is just morally repugnant. I say that as someone who has their own criticisms against the US and Israel.

People from Unite State knows they are free enough to speak their mind freely, and that itself should be celebrated, not a subject of complaint. But if you want so much, you can go live in those country, I promise you no one will complain about their government's wrongdoing, heck they won't complain at all just as you wished.

Thats why the proests are lower, theres nothing to protest. Yes china and russia are bad. Yes the USA is trying to cripple them. Can they? No because theyre going to shit themselves.
      The reason why protests against israel are happening is because the EU and USA are meant to be the good guys. Bastions of freedom and rights. So when these guys do the exact same thing the bad guys are doing, obviously protests are gonna happen cuz thats more outrageous.

    Welcome to China, welcome to Xinjiang. China has opened visa-free access to most countries, and Xinjiang can also be freely entered and exited. Therefore, you can use your eyes and body to feel the real Xinjiang and what the real Uyghurs are like, instead of staying at home and commenting on a matter by reading Western media reports! This is why criticism of Xinjiang comes from Western media, not from Muslim countries of the same faith. Isn’t it strange?
    The brain belongs to you, not others. Why would someone believe lies instead of going to see it for themselves? Maybe it's just that you just like lies.

      > Official population figures indicate a sharp decline in birth rates in XUAR from 2017. Data from the 2020 Chinese Statistical Yearbook, covering 2019, shows that in the space of two years the birth rate in Xinjiang dropped approximately 48.7 per cent, from 15.88 per thousand in 2017 to 8.14 per thousand in 2019. The average for all of China is 10.48 per thousand.
      > Uyghur-majority areas represented the bulk of this decline, with two of the largest Uyghur prefectures especially affected by it. In Hotan, which is 96 per cent Uyghur, birth rates went from 20.94 per cent in 2016 to 8.58 per cent per thousand births in 2018. Similarly, the birth rate in Kashgar, which is approximately 92.6 per cent Uyghur, dropped from 18.19 per cent in 2016 to 7.94 per cent per thousand births in 2018. Even taking into account the overall decline in birth rates in China, these figures remain unusual and stark. The same applies to the figures regarding sterilisations and IUD placements in XUAR, with official data indicating an unusually sharp rise in both forms of procedures in the region during 2017 and 2018, in comparison with the rest of China. For example, in 2018, sterilisations in XUAR stood at 243 per 100,000 inhabitants, whereas the overall figure for China was a fraction thereof at only 32.1 per 100,000 inhabitants.
      And here are quotes from the legal code, which are some of creepiest doublespeak I have seen outside of fiction (www.chinalawtranslate.com/en/xinjiang-uyghur-autonomous-region-regulation-on-de-extremification/);
      > The following words and actions under the influence of extremism are extremification, and are to be prohibited: (15) Other speech and acts of extremification.
      > De-extremification shall persist in the basic directives of the party's work on religion, persist in an orientation of making religion more Chinese and under law, and actively guide religions to become compatible with socialist society.
      > Competent departments for telecommunications shall urge telecommunications operators to put in place monitoring systems and technological prevention measures for audio, messages, and communication records with extremifying content in cell phones, call centers, land lines, and other telecommunication tools, to prevent the transmission of information with extremifying information. Where telecommunications operators discover information with extremifying content, they shall immediately stop its transmission, delete the relevant information, keep evidence, and promptly report the case; employ technological measures to block cross-border internet transmissions of information with extremifying content, and assist the public security organs in conducting a lawful disposition.
      And on.

    The thing is, which of Gaza vs Xinjiang is genocidal? Or it is both? In Gaza we have seen deaths, starvation, people displaced, UN and NGO personnel killed indiscreetly, infrastructures destroyed, cutting off water, electricity, medicines and humanitarian aid.... Xinjiang has a different form of genocide: their products banned, their businesses sanctioned, and as a result their people are deprived of income and job opportunities. These 2 regions have a common factor - a foreign power supplying weapons and imposing sanctions respectively, thereby facilitating or creating the genocide. And we will never forget the genocide there.

    Hello everyone who cares so much about the Uyghur people, I'm Chinese and I welcome all of you to come to Xinjiang and see with your own eyes. You propably don't know this but you can come to Xinjiang freely. No one will stop you from exploring the place. In fact the Uyghurs will welcome you. They are one of the warmest, most friendly ethic groups in China. I'm sure you won't regret this trip. And then you can draw conclusion by your own judgement.
    Also I don't know why there's this rumor that China is anti-muslim. China actually puts a very harsh ban on Islamophobia. As a Chinese I am often horrified by the amount of islamophobic contents produced by western media, if these writers/editors/reporters work in China, they go to jail.

      Then why did the Chinese government prevent journalists from visiting any of the reeducation camps that were not heavily curated even by your government's own metrics?
      For those who don't know, these reeducation camps are a punishment for extremism, and the Chinese government outright admits that. However, whenever journalists visit the inmates claim to be a volunteers who one day realized that they were infected by extremism, but luckily the great and wonderful CCP was there to help them understand the truth. Yeah.
      And here are quotes from the legal code, which are some of creepiest doublespeak I have seen outside of fiction;
      And there's more, but this last one is noteworthy given the above commenter claims that China is not Islamophobic. And I guess they aren't, as long as Islam, and every other religion, conforms to the demands of the CCP. And if you go through this comment section, you'll see a bunch of Chinese commenters say that. Including them outright claiming that the CCP is the one who is preserving the "true" Uyghur culture and protecting it from "extremism".

The East Turkistan Uyghurs overseas are Islamic radicals who want to impose strict Sharia on Uyghur people and put an end to a splendid culture. The Chinese government is the one who is preserving and promoting this culture. I saw a billboard by a road in Xinjiang that had two pictures, the one with Uyghur traditional colorful clothes with a big green check, the other with burka and black robes with a Red Cross. Also in rural Xinjiang, I saw cartoon posters saying “ if someone asks you to cover your face and hair to prove your a real Muslim, report to the local gov. If someone’s talks about jihad, reports to the local gov” I saw these things in Radom peoples travel videos on YT that have nothing to do with politics but it show that what the Chines gov has a problem with is a radical form of religion that is the opposite of authentic uyghur traditions and cultures

20:41 as a woman who has had an IUD put in of her free will, it was not a pleasant experience. And that is downplaying it. I was safe in a doctors office, and I was still a bit traumatized by it (it felt like giving birth, and I wasn’t mentally prepared for that as someone who has not had children). I cannot imagine having one forcibly put in in public. It was awful enough in a doctors office where I had chosen it, and had women there who cared about my well-being and ethics. And I knew that if it any point in time I did not want it, he was an easy trip to a doctor for them to slide it out.
    That’s not to say that the other stuff wasn’t horrible as well. This just resonated with me. I guess an IUD is better than mutilating them, so that they can’t have children even if they do get out and get help, but regardless, it’s awful

      When some Uyghur Chinese committed terrorist acts on Chinese streets
      Where some Uyghur Chinese were thrown into re-education camps
      The world called it cultural genocide
      Where some Palestinians escaped their Gaza Ghettos committed terrorist acts on Israeli streets.
      We in the world call that terrorism, justifying the bombing of Palestinian civilians in their Gaza Ghettos
      Which begs the question China throws money at their ethnic Uyghur Chinese minority and gives them special rights over the Han majority. Like the ability to have more then 1 kid at the time like they do with all their ethnic minority people
      Yet we consider it cultural genocide
      What does Israel consider these Palestinian people as???
      As they bomb them in those Gaza Ghettoes Israel forced them into.
      Yet in this situation, we mostly stay silent on that genocide

    Thanks for the work you, the writers and editors do to objectively expose these under-reported, horrifying, despicable things that are happening around the world.
    In a western world that is increasingly hung up on "me" culture/politics, learning more detail about these awful situations puts things in perspective a bit, doesn't it.

      And here is a translation of CCP laws for the region; www.chinalawtranslate.com/en/xinjiang-uyghur-autonomous-region-regulation-on-de-extremification/
      Quotes;
      And on.
      Compared to that, thr US and every other country I have visited with a Muslim minority is a paradise.

      Yeah, me. Do we actually have any evidence of this genocide? Or maybe it's going on, but the Chinese are being provoked and need to resort to violence?
      Also, here we go again with white people complaining about the evils of other people when white people themselves have done the same and are actually benefiting from such actions. China can't do the same?
