Just a clarification. Tagalog, Bisaya and Ilocano are not dialects. They're languages because they are spoken over a wide area of the country. They're actually 3 of the 8 major languages spoken in the Philippines. A dialect is spoken only in one area. Like let's say Chavacano, which is spoken only in Zamboanga. :)

Bisayan and Ilocano are their own distinct languages. They are at least as different if not more than say Spanish vs Italian, and we think of them as separate languages. Ako ay Pilipino too and if I am not wrong, I think Bisayan was spoken by more individuals when they declared Tagalog the official language back in the day, and now that is why Tagalog has become prominent.
