    Hello! I just recently got into Wealth Simple Trade and have been trying to learn more about investing and stocks. Your channel helped clarify so much for me, thank you both so much! With passive and active investing, there are SO many options and ways you can go about things so it can be overwhelming to start. So thank you again for the clarification!

      Hi! 1) You can use a laptop or cell phone; 2) It will be automatic if you use the link; 3) On a laptop you can use their website, and on your phone from the app store; 4) We recommend doing your own research, but we feel comfortable using it 😊; 5) If you would like an antivirus software, we recommended one in our past 'Tax Season' video! We hope that helps 😊

    You actually aren’t down $1000. It’s because your January deposit hasn’t fully processed in their system (that’s why your % is still positive). Usually takes about a week for it process properly (not sure if you noticed that). I use both platforms so I’m really familiar with it.

    • @itzjusbrian
      @itzjusbrian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey, I was doing some research myself, basically wealthsimple is a investing platform that is managed for you. It seems to be on the safe side. So Invest & Cash will put your money in mostly ETF's in different sectors and markets based on your risk tolerance. On the other hand trade & crypto is the platform for buying stocks you want specifically including crypto.

    Question for you guys! If I have a TFSA with RBC and want to make the switch but my account is at a loss at the current moment, should I wait for it to go back up or just go ahead and open up a TFSA with Wealthsimple and start investing there. I am open to hearing your thoughts, as I want to ensure I am not losing any of my contribution room or getting charged different fees to transfer a TFSA under $1000 CAD. Thank you for your insight! 🙏🏼

      Hey Amandeep! Good question - you can hold in either - Den touches on this a little bit in Friday’s video! But yes there can be benefits to holding certain funds in either/or. Also, every ETF has an expense ratio attached - but doing it yourself (ie. no robo advisor) means there’s no additional fee to manage the fund (but again there are fees to buy and hold in general). 😊

I’m a bit hesitant because I keep hearing that I would have to pay ‘withholding tax’ on US ETFs/stocks. Its 15% of dividends paid by US exhcange traded stocks you own. The brokerage has to pay the US that money. If your US stock investment is in a TFSA, this will apply to dividends.

Once purchased, assets are immediately available to sell, and when an asset is sold, the proceeds are available to use right away. It is important to keep in mind that the quotes offered via Wealthsimple Trade are 15 minutes delayed and that we charge a currency conversion fee on all trades (buys and sells) for US-denominated assets.' 😊

    great video. i got a question, i live in BC and i wanted to open a TFSA account through my TD bank and they said i have to be 19, keep in mind im 18 right now. So is it possible if i can open a TFSA account through wealthimple ? since the age requirement is 18. I haven't opened an account yet. What should i do ????

    • @JohnSmith-cl3rb
      @JohnSmith-cl3rb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to wait until you’re 19 to. Open a TFSA because you live in BC but you can then invest your limit from when you were 18. Essentially you begin at 19 with a 2 year ceiling. Cheers!

I am asking this because of the taxes that I would eventually pay on the personal account. Do you know the amount of taxes charged on the personal account? (sorry Im a beginner)

      Hey Mayooran! If you open a personal account but having nothing in it, you won't be charged taxes - taxes are based on how much an individual has in that account and their investments. 😊

      Good question! You should auto deposit until you max out your registered accounts (RRSP and TFSA) and then you can redirect your deposits to a non-registered account - those have no limits, but are taxable - hence why you do your TFSA/RRSP first. 😊
