Blockbuster Movie Trivia Board Game
They didn't realize in the head to head that you're suppose to keep hitting the button on every answer to refresh the timer, and whoever can't think of a movie on their turn first loses

What kills me is that James took a second to see a ruling on ties, and for an instant I thought he realized that they were doing it wrong, then they proceed to keep playing wrong.

It's extra funny because they should have realized that the person starting the head to head can never lose. Like when James kept losing in the jail themed one, no matter what, it would just "tie" at worst, and they'd start again.
The disclaimer about the conflicts this game generates fading in slowly is just really good

So I bought this game because of this video and it was on sale. This is exactly how our group got in some parts. We berated one our poor friends because he couldn't give good clues for Top Gun or Mission Impossible and it was the last category they needed to win lol
James is Dennis from Always Sunny. The way he describes movies is not for the common man. That Fantasia and Shrek shit killed me. "PARFAIT! PARFAIT! PARFAIT!"

I love how Ryan’s hunger games pantomime is incredibly unlikely to get people to the words of the movie. He’s eating not hungry, and he’s shooting, not playing a game. It requires so many logical leaps.
Also he's shooting with a gun instead of a bow.
He’s simultaneously trying to act out the title (very poorly like you said) while also acting out the movie (which again, don’t remember guns in that movie) 😂

The way to play without allowing the person to stall in the quick hits round is to have the players hit the button. That resets the timer and prevents one team from stalling out
That makes way more sense, they should go back and forth until someone can't name a movie - the timer is just there to time how long you get to think of a movie until it's too late for their turn.
That's how it's supposed to work, if you press the button once you get a very short timer and the idea is that in head to head each player presses the button after they name a movie and you go until someone runs out of time. You hold the button down to get a longer timer for the charades round but it seems like they're holding the button for both.
It's literally in the instructions, I was so confused at the beggining that I had to go look for a "how to play" worrying that I've been playing this game wrong...and I haven't

@Alan Roy Juicegate i grew up with blockbuster, and i gotta say: sometimes you just have to throw your sunglasses on and put an experience in your rear-view because it’s done. Thats how i feel about blockbuster.
Can't wait to play the Netflix boardgame which constitutes of flipping cards until you get the "A Movie You Want to Watch: You Win!" but it takes 45 minutes of flipping cards to finally find it.

I love the disclaimer about the intensity between the players. It's really reassuring. It's also nice to have it explicitly said that the entertainment value here is strictly the performance. Even if this game makes people out-of-character mad at each other, it's consensual and not the intended source of entertainment. Good stuff.

This games great, it’s one of those “get the entire family/friend group to fist fight each other by the end of the night” games.
I need lots more of this! It's like the opposite of GTA V because everyone is engaged in playing the game.

During the duel round, you're suppose to hit the button every time someone guesses an answer correctly in the category. Otherwise someone can run out the timer by not saying their answer until the very last second. The timer is set to 30 seconds, so you keep going through the answers until someone can't think of one in 30 seconds.

I agree, but there's also "clever girl" and "life finds a way" and "your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" although that one is a bit long.

I got this game for Christmas and while putting it together I accidently put the stickers on the wrong sides, causing "Blockbuster" to be upside down. It's quite fitting and this game is great.

I can count on James for many things in the Board As Hell series, and getting at least one rule wrong every time is one of them 😂 a lot of problems about ties and stalling the clock could have been avoided

I have this game too and noticed it immediately lol. I first tried to give James the benefit of the doubt by thinking it might be difficult to accomplish on that huge table, but James misreading the rules could also be a possibility. The classic Board Game scenario. It can happen to anybody.

I miss Blockbuster so much, going in there was so much fun as a kid. I got to see so many movies I wouldn’t have known about otherwise, and play a ton of games that became some of my all time favourites. 🎬
I think the only video game i remember renting from blockbuster was spartan: total warrior, a game no one has ever heard of or played besides me.
