Top notch as always!! Leverage the bosses to allow you to do another series. The real world use of your products from the people that sell them, I believe, helps everyone. We very real time usage, and JBugs gets info on quality and fitment. 👍🏻
How does the line go, "Everything is easy, when you know how!" Which isn't always true, but in the case of the door seals, I don't think it took more than 3 hours to completely reassemble the doors with all new seals.
You reminded me I snapped off my sunroof hand-crank last week. Well, just the little silly spinning knob, but I had to buy the entire thing. You made those scrapers and door panels look easy. Door panels give me fits.
@@Sam_Mebane All those little clips and boots and I lose patience in about an hour. And masonite puts me in a bad mood. We need to come up with a more durable panel backing.
@@jemcnair76 100% Werksberg was offering ABS plastic panels a few years back. Not sure if he's still around making stuff or not. Either way I would prefer a modern plastic push in (to the body) clip that maybe twisted into the panel, masonite or otherwise. Heck, I might even try to come up with something when I have the time.
@@Sam_Mebane The PO of my car put in the rear quarters with tiny self-tappers. I thought that was a great idea for the rear, but I didn't have the guts to try it on the door panels. It may be that I bought cheap panels but the masonite was mangled by the clips. There was really not enough bite area for the clips on most of the holes. And then I had to reglue and restaple the covers, which turned out nice, but the manufacturer just didn't care. So yes, those modern body clips (the press in type you see on everything these days) on a durable backer. And the clips need to float somewhat for alignment.
@@jemcnair76 I know years back the EPA required a change to glues and what not. For a few years TMI had issues getting the door panel material stuck to the panel before they finally went to staples. That made a big difference, but yeah, there isn't much meat at the end of the panel for the clip so they break there regularly.
thanks for showing the process. I just got my window seal kit the other day. I only put the door seals in for now as I plan on painting my car in the spring/summer and will wait until then to do the scrapers and trim. I redid the internals of my doors a month or so ago along with new water barrier, clips and panels. Got the doors back on and found that I put my check-rods in backwards! Stupid mistake... knowing that the chances of popping off the door panels without breaking them is slim, I just removed the check-rod pins and shoved them back into the door to be another day's problem!
I'm ashamed to say, I have all new seals for my 1965's doors.... since 1997.😮 Next spring I hope to get back on it and I'm sure I'll be using your video for reference. Thank you.
I was only 9 years old at that point, and JBugs was still owned by TMI and in Hawthorne, CA. I didn't start working for California Pacific in Oceanside, CA until 1998 when they acquired JBugs.
Im waiting for my JBUGS order to do exactly this on a 68 I'm fixing up for my granddaughters first car. I didn't think about the rivets for the vent window top hinge so darn, I'll just have to place another order! I'm thinking I'll need a carpet kit along with those rivets.
Sam that bug is turning out to be a very nice daily driver... Is that your 67 or does it belong to a customer? I wish i was able to take care of all those issues on my 68.. Sam thx for the Buddy Hale tip and thx for bringing us along on another adventure on the 67.. Take care my friend...
Thank you. Very informative and well done.

I Love the door panels color

They can be a pain for sure! I've scratched brand new paint a number of times getting them installed.

Great videos as usual learning and enjoying it
Another good video to watch, I like the way you just get on with it. 👍
No sense in wasting time!
Well done. Thanks for the vid
That's a nice SB hanging out behind you
Loving how the 67 is progressing .... Very cool👍🇩🇪
It belongs to one of the guys here. We swapped out his worn original carburetor and swapped out an 009 to a SVDA on it a few months back.
Never done full door rubbers before and at some point will need to and now I know how. Good work and thank you. Much ❤ from 🇬🇧
As us Yanks say, get er done!
Sam you should do another TH-cam series project like this at some point. Very entertaining.
I have a few ideas, but I've got to get the green light from the owners first.

No time like the present, just takes a few hours!
I would love to see a cal look built the original cal look beetle that would be nice and interesting
We have a few cars out in the parking lot that would be suitable....we'll see!
Nice work, enjoying the video's. Were you working for JBugs back in 1986? If so I believe you sold me my riviera wheels.

We'll see what the owners want to do, I'm with you. I have been wanting to paint a car for years...as in do it myself.
Im really dreading reassembling my doors. I need all new seals and clips and its a paint trying to locate them all to order.
We do have kits that have it all....not too hard when you know where to look!
@Sam_Mebane that'd be great, and I'd be happy to order from you guys. But once again, you don't ship to the UK. Car is coming a long great, though.
@@GT.Bugger that might be a bit more difficult but I'm sure someone over there has got to offer them, Heritage Parts Centre is one that comes to mind.
