yeah its crazy up there in Manly's front office. I would say its 60/40 like you said if the club are investing that much money in a player they should be making sure he's hitting certain numbers and watching his weight etc. But the player has to want it too, club cant be with him 24x7 he has to make good decisions for himself and for the club that's given alot. he is a talent that game against the Eels he had that left side humming we just need to see it week in week out now.

Started the season great, tbh. Got an injury and just gave up, put on weight again. He can be an elite player if he fixes his mentality, but idk if its possible to fix from the people I’ve spoken to. Apparently hangs out in the wrong crowd to say the least

Giving a player 800k per year before they are worth that much is a big cause of the problem.
He thinks he's already made it as a gun player in the comp.
You see it time and time again, young guys get these huge contracts, then it's two years of entitled, lazy performance Until they realise some effort is needed or they're getting the arse and a pay cut at the next club. The hunger to earn A top salary isn't there if a club pays too much too soon.

Kent is right on a few fronts namely that he thinks they're happy to move him on. When you're part of the long term plans, you're not left in two minds whats happening. Although if he's as good as everyone is saying then do you not cuddle him and make sure he knows he's important to Manly? Sydney has got alot of distractions and certain personalities really struggle especially when left to their own devices. The good Manly side from 15 years ago had a group that came through together which is important to stop individuals drifting apart.
Pretty quick turnaround don’t you think? They were more than happy to push Foran on because they thought Schuster was their future halve and now 9 weeks in you reckon they’re happy to shift him on? I doubt they’re happy to do but its becoming a business issue. It’s a lot of money to be paying a guy if he can’t make it on game day and not giving his all to his own progression
My point is do you think Joey, Freddy, Langer and these guys were the ultimate professionals? They had vices but the coach got that they were critical to the team winning. They vouched for them while at the same time worked with them to become proper professional athletes. Proper coaches do that and off the back of it develop a strong bond with the player. While getting the best out of him. Ostracising players rarely does anything except humiliate them next they want a release. At that point the relationship is broken.

Maybe Schster is like Konnie Hurrell kids with huge talent that got them to first grade but no self discipline learnt along the way.
When Hurrell was at Warriors the joke was he just had to drive past Maccas to put on a kilo or two as driving past Maccas for him meant going thru the drive thru for a couple of burgers and chips.Of course there were quite a few Macca's on Konnie's drive home everyday.

The world cup challenge is hardly top of the agenda for NRL clubs but it is for super league as they try to make out their comp is as good.

The difference here is hurrell wasn't injurie prone and wasn't on 800k lol manly let foran go because of him but now he's only played like 2 games all year
