"Flood" from Tool's "Undertow" album (1993).
Actually the first time so far that a Tool song is difficult to transcribe/play due to quality and a missing click track. Tool obviously doesn't use a click track because Danny is a machine, but it was really quite difficult to play along. Especially during the intro. Anyway, the volume of the original song cause all over the place so the video is sometimes very loud, and sometimes very quiet. The song is pretty fun to play though. Lots of weird time signatures that are more about feeling the song rather than counting to 25.

How certain are you that you got those parts where he does the main line higher on the fret board at 6:20 right? I feel like I hear him playing that on the D string instead of the A, or am I wrong?
Crap, you're right. This is once again one of those parts where I look at another online tab and assume that it is correct. Listening back, he's definitely playing on the D string.

Thanks for uloading these gems. 🍄❤️ I was a guitarist for 35 years. Last week I bought an Ibanez sd300 and a boss cosm rig. I'm wiping the slate clean and starting over. Thankful that I can use my experience on a stringed instrument still. I feel like I can fall right into being a decent bass player. Although my plucking fingers fell like I fingerbanged a belt sander.
Thanks for the sub! I think you won't have a hard time playing bass after 35 years of playing guitar. It takes some time to get used to things, but you'll find that the bass is a lot easier than the guitar.

Awesome bro. One of my favorite Tool songs ever and as someone is is just starting to learn how to play the bass this is a song that I want to leanr as I progress. Killer sound coming from your bass btw....what is your rig setup if you don't mind me askimg?
Thanks man! My whole rig is digital so it's just a bass going into my audio interface (Apollo Twin Duo). From there, I use a bass amp simulator (Ampeg SVT-VR and Ampeg SVT-3PRO) for the tones and sounds. Most of my effects are also on there.

I've been using my buddy's bass but he wants it back amd I've been thinking I should get my own anyway so I'm lookin around for one I might like. He gave it to me to try it out and see if i really want to play as a long term interest and let me twll ya, it's there. I'm a drummer first but why not keep the rhythm backbone of any band going on the drums AND bass🤙🤘
Oh I believe you. I have the same with drums. I feel like I'd be a decent drummer if I would know how to drum properly. Drums + bass = best combo

Question. Why do you move your hand so much? You can use your pinky for the 6,5,3 part and keep your hand still.
Personal preference I guess. I use quite thick strings on a long scale bass so this 3,5,6 position becomes draining on my hand when you have to repeat it a lot.
@@LeoBassCovers2 makes sense. Those long necks are a workout aren't they? I play on an Ibanez sd300. The stretch is manageable.

@@LeoBassCovers2 That's weird. The drums are mostly 4.4, 6/8, and 7/8. I've never seen 25/8 before, haha.
