“Compassion for animals is intimately associated with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.” - Schopenhauer
Recognizing the reality behind these words is why WA state's animal cruelty laws include provisions for mandatory psychiatric treatment along with fines, imprisonment, and other consequences for animal abusers. It's not necessarily meant to protect animals but the human population which has to live with a potentially very dangerous person. Those who hurt animals will eventually hurt other people, too.
Some "people" don't deserve life honestly. Subject them to a tiny cell, hourly beatings for months on end and then when they cower and scream at the prospect of human contact... give them a bullet.
@@sealteampepega8403 I'm saying that humans can't turn around and be happy and forgiving in a few minutes after months or years of abuse not that humans can't forgive.
@stellarrat Maybe because humans have more complex psychological processes than dogs? Is a dog, the only thing he can do is like you or not like you. You can translate that into "love" or likability, but there's no complex exchange of thoughts, ideas, language, subject/object constructions, etc. Not to mention, dogs are domesticated and programmed/predisposed to be amicable toward humans. So, is not fair for the dog or the human to make such comparisons. No idea why some of you people like to compare human (higher psychological processes) behavior with non-hominin. Even primates and dolphins are closer to us in that regard, but you always like to compare us to dogs, cats, and parrots. 🙄
@@sealteampepega8403 If you feel personally attacked by this, since it obviously didn't state that humans are awful but rather simply not as quick to forgive, you're in some aggressive denial my dude. People are much worse than the average perception of one another. Most kindness is performative without the person even realizing. Just think about it and you'll realize how most good behavior is reinforced is through shame, fear or guilt.

@@JohnDoe-dq3hi The owner was cruel because he, too, had been abused. Dogs have FAR more emotional intelligence than people, perhaps because no one can lie to the NOSE! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL TO SEE THE TRANSFORMATION. Be aware, thus dog will need more therapy for his PTSD. HE will still be likely to be reactive to triggers -- someone whose scent or behavior frightens him. My rescue turned service dog was terrified of tall men with fur hats. I recruited some tall friends and they helped socialize my 2 yr. old dog, tossing him kibble and LETTING HIM COME TO THEM (while we had him on a 6' leash.) You have to create conditions which tempt the dog to take the scary risk, one baby step at a time. This respects the dog, restored his sense of agency, and lets the dog feel more confident in his own power to be safe without being reactive. EVEN AFTER YOU THINK ALL THE FEAR IS EXTINGUISHED, it can return, especially when dog thinks his savior or pack is endangered. It's not the dog's fault, but buying extra insurance and taking it slow when introducing new people is critically important. My Rescued Aussie passed in July, after nearly 11 years of assisting me with balance and being Daddy's best buddy. We now take comfort in how good a life he had.

There's many levels of a physical aggression from a dog. From a nozzle punch to gnawing into the hand with full force and anything in between. Same thing with barking: a fast and agitated bark signals being scared while growling and barking sporadically - hostility.
Mike Bohuslav Seligman oh I wasn’t meaning to imply he wasn’t aggressive. I definitely see he was. What I meant he could have gone into full attack of the gloved hand, but definitely didn’t. there's no forgiveness in animals, stop fucking treating them like humans. They're not. This dog only knew violence and therefore showed aggressive behaviour. Once he was shown care, affection but more importantly no sign of threat nor danger, his instincts (that previously kept him on guard at all times) told him he was safe and so he quickly changed behaviour. Treating animals, dogs, like humans is a disservice to them, it doesnt do them any good, you'll never understand how a dog thinks and acts if you stupidly think you're dealing with a human being. 🙄
they will actually easily move on to a better life, and never look back

I'm sobbing like a baby watching this. How anyone can treat an animal so harshly and let them live like this is so upsetting. Thank you, Takis. You are an angel sent from above to these animals. ❤️
Sobbing
Ok
Human get treated worse. Remember that op.
It’s enough to make a grown man cry, and that’s okay.
You go right ahead tear
IM NOT CRYING
And I’ll cry with you.
True, I don't even have any animals and this had me welling up. I like both dogs and cats, but with work I just can't keep one. They would just be pissed that I'm gone most of the day :(
Sow in tears and reap in joy, these are happy tears 😂
You can literally see his eyes change once he understands he is given affection. Sad and beautiful at the same time.
So much pain in his eyes.. Still all he wants is love.. Animals are truly wonderful beings..
Yesss I was just about to say tht you can tell the second tht baby just melted in his hand ohhh wow this was sad but good too
In that moment where he leans his head into the handler’s palm really got me. I came from an abusive home and I empathized with that. You’re scared by affection, but want it so desperately. Thank you for this.
I'm so sorry for you man, hope you are with good people now!
You deserve every bit of affection and I believe that you‘ll have someone on your side, who will show you how being loved truly means♥️ Good luck for you brother
Sorry to hear. I pray a healing for your heart... 💛💛💛
I so get this as a survivor of abuse too, it’s an awful feeling to feel that you are desperate for that love and affection, but terrified by it, and then always doubting that they really love you that in the end I can push them away with my insecurities. I wish you find/have found love and affection from friends and lover’s. All the best never forget that you are a warrior and survivor. Take care
Sending you hugs my friend 🤗❤️🙏
Thanks!
His bite was so reluctant. You could tell he didn’t want to do it.
Yes! He just didn’t want to be hit, poor thing. I loved how he kept going to everyone for pats at the end, like “wow this is great!”
Poor thing....sick people treat another life like that....!!
How appropriate the dog is called Phoenix after the mythical bird that rose from the ashes to start a new chapter in its life.
I enjoyed this comment as much as the video :)
So many ignorant comments on ignorant videos have 2k+ likes... This comment should have 10k+! I agree with Shaun, I enjoyed this comment as much as the video!
A reborn with what ? Love, simply love. 💚
Just like every other rehabilitated person and animal
I don't know why this comment made me feel the way it did. Choked me up as soon as I read it.
He did not want to bite anyone. He was afraid. He was trying to look scary. Poor thang.
@Charlie Chaplin some dogs are so nice that no matter what you do to them, they would never bite anyone.
do you really have to type in ebonics?
@@crimescene25 You're such a loser.
@@crimescene25 Could just be southern. And why not? Ever watch Scottish people type? They type through their accent. They really do. It's the damnedest thing. And I have this tendency to type the pretentious prose of someone who reads too much. Sometimes I even have to say "Sheesh. Who talks like that?" Lol. We all have our idiosyncrasies. There must be something you do that's annoying.
Yall tripping. He would bite because he got raised in chains and never felt love. Why would he not bite? Humans worst trait is to force their perception onto reality. He wanted love yes, but silly to say he would never bite.
Thank you for showing love and kindness to this precious soul. He’s a beating heart that can feel pain and sadness. Fear and nerves. Love helped him come out of his mental anguish. How I wish to GOD the former owner could PAY dearly for his evil treatment of this poor innocent baby boy! I will continue to wish for true Justice for this little angel! 🙏🏼♥️🐶♥️🙏🏼
