excellent review! very very helpful tips from experience, answering all the major day to day nick nacks one can experience with the product! need more videos like these!
I have two GoPro 5s, a Session5, and a Karma Grip; your tips could not have been more timely! BTW I absolutely LOVE the voice coammnds, it has made my efforts so much easier to manage! Thanks!
Thank you for this very informative and entertaining video. After watching your review I now feel like I've owned the Karma Grip for years. My decision to purchase one was made easy with this video. -thumbs up
I have used the karma grip on a car and it was a little better maybe because it doesn't lean as much as a motorcycle through turns. It had a nice effect where it would follow the turns. I have it posted in my channel. Great video and very informative. I enjoyed watching and getting some tips from you. I had no idea about the proper way to hold it.
Thank you so much, for donig the stuff easier for us, at least for me, now i´ve decided to buy it... Thnaks.... Gracias I´m from Ecuador, a place near Mindo....
Very useful video! I really liked the recalibration trick. Thanks for that. I have the Karma Grip but was only holding it vertical. I will try the 45 degree angle next time I take it for a walk. Also, I know what you mean about the Karma Grip losing orientation on a vehicle. I tried taking out-the-window footage with it on a drive through wine country, and the wind was too strong for the gimbal. My footage came out severely tilted. It did look fabulous when I kept it inside the car and the window up though.
Ok.. great video. The thing I found hilarious, however, was that from a composition standpoint... the best shots in the entire video were the shots where the Karma handle was loosing it's orientation as you rode your bike. If you had said nothing about the accidental orientation loss... you would have probably won an award for cinematography for those shots. Thanks for posting this. It was very helpful.
Hello, I'm new. Just purchased my first gopro 5 and the karma grip. You said that you could not hook up an external microphone but could you use a wireless external micro phone. Probably a stupid question but I am 67 and just purchased this and I am having fun learning.....so far...
Kind of feels a bit like an ad for the Karma grip. But the footage does look great. I've got the Hero 4 though. I've been wondering if it would be worthwhile getting the grip or investing in something like the Osmo.
I absolutely love the Karma grip... use it for all of Andie the Lab adventures BUT even when calibrated and updated... I have issues. Sometimes the Karma (when fully charged) will "shut down" - flashing red lights... I have to power down and back up. I've used with Hero 5 and more recently Hero 6. With both cameras, more so with Hero 6... the Karma will stop communicating with camera. I have to remove camera, take out battery, and then put back together in order to resume filming. Since making this video -- have you experienced any of this, and have you tried with updated Hero6? You voiced a love for the Hero 5 -- curious your thoughts on Hero 6 (I love this one even more )!! Thanks for feedback!!
great video, learnt a few things there thanks, like the karma grip a lot, much prefer to the DJI mobile. Quick question -does anybody know or Adorama do you sell the mini mic stand you used on the non karma grip GoPro5 here, looked like good quality and after something like that. thanks again Mark great video.
Awesome video, you may have figured this out already? But you can remove the neck (lack of a better word) from the grip and attached the gyro to a GoPro mount on your bike for capturing your rides
Great presentation and info Mark, Thank you. I have two of the Hero 5's and they work well, the Karma Grip I have no interest in without external sound options. Can't understand how GoPro totally missed this.
I agree with you. I don't really like the sound recording on the Hero 5 anyway, and have opted to spend extra on a Zoom H1 to capture audio. It's a little effort to sync, but I love the quality.
Hi!! I'm jumping late on the karma Grip...but I really need to know (if anyone can answer or has any experience). Does the Karma works for Skiing videos? With carving technique, the Karma could be set in a way that is very close to 45º, but seeing the BMW video, I wonder if it might happen the same thing. I'm not a high speed skiier...I rather carve and link edges rather than speed down hill with ample curves. Does anyone have had experienced this grip in such conditions? Thanks you for a great video!!
Mark, Is that the setup you use when riding Bike? Your voice sounds very good even when wearing your helmet. I've been meaning to ask you for ages, but I always forget. This video reminded me.
With the proper way of holding the Karma grip, will it still work on a back pack while walking? If so do you have a picture of how it should fit? Thank you so much
Jayne yes it works mounted on a backpack strap. GoPro sells the karma in a package with the drone that comes with a backpack and karma mount just for exactly this.
LOL. Was trying to change settings on my HERO5 while listening to your video and each time you said a recognizable voice command, it listened to you and kicked me out of the screen I was on. Now whose your master....
Why didn't GoPro include an accelerometer either in the Hero 5 or Karma grip so that it can sense the force of gravity (so you wouldn't need to re-calibrate it, and it'd likely had performed better on the motorcycle.)
The GPS function on the GoPro Hero7 sucks... i was on my bicycle traveling less than 5mph and the gauges said i was traveling 289mph. I traveled a twisted path in a big loop. The map overlay showed i traveled a straight course. Not one of the gauges were even close to accurate. I returned it to GoPro in California, they sent me another and it was also defective. when i complained, they told me that the Gauges have never worked on any of their Hero7 blacks. The audio for narrative/speaking only works with that hug, ugly dongle that is as big as the camera. If you turn on any of these: GPS, WiFi, connectivity, or Voice control, you loose over 2/3rds of the battery range. In my opinion. the Insta360 OneX has better battery range, 5k video record, excellent audio (with audio 3.5mm audio mic plug) And it is a 360 camera with invisible selfie stick (you can't see it in the video..appears as if you are being filmed by a drone) All in all it is a far better bet for the money.. GoPro was the best...Can't say that anymore.. AnotherOneBitesTheDust..!
I don't know.. my thing is, these go pros aren't really used for professional purposes, so who really needs the full resolution or scale besides someone who's fooling their self? Just save a few hundred, and throw whatever 4k footage from gopro in a video editor, and just add image stabilization there. It tends to work very well.
There is nothing wrong with the size of the audiointerface it is the freaking camera that is way to small. Damit you cannot even grip it without putting your fingertip on the lens which this guy demonstrates early in this video.
Very nice review. Clean, straight to the point.Honest.
Great video as always! Thanks Mark! Keep them coming.
Thanks for the video! Just got my grip last week. Thanks for the tip about holding it, that's really handy and will make a big difference.
Love how smooth the footage looks with the karma grip, cool video, thanks for sharing

Marty Turner what else do you have
Very good stuff! Just purchased my Karma Grip last night. Cant wait to try it out! Thanks for tips!
Thank you so much for an excellent video. You have enabled me to decide on a purchase of the Karma Grip. Very well put together. 10/10.
Great!! I had the Karma grip for a while, but this video helped me with some features that I was not aware!
Thanks for the tips, especially the calibration and proper angles for the grip. The grip and Karma drone are awesome.
Thank you for this very informative and entertaining video. After watching your review I now feel like I've owned the Karma Grip for years. My decision to purchase one was made easy with this video. -thumbs up
Great video - I own a grip and didn't know about the proper handling of the Grip or the calibration function.
Codename73 which tells me you didn’t bother reading the material packed inside box 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Great video! This was very informative and you provided a lot of examples! Thanks for the review!
Very useful video! Thank you for the interesting tips!
Superb Video and thanks for the important tips. Am ready to go with my Go Pro and Karma grip.
Great informative video . Thanks for your time in sharing. ATB. Steve.
Great video, just got my Karma Grip and this was very informative!
Sweet motorcycle. BMR rocks as does Klim gear. Great review of the Karma Grip. You saved me as I was going to use the Karma on my GS1200 ADV!
Great review. I’m going to pick up my karma grip and a hero 6 next week, so I can create even better TH-cam videos! Thanks for the tips.
Excellent, really good advice. Thank you for the informative film.
Great video, im just starting out with the Gopro Hero 5 and I love the way the Karma grip makes the footage look awesome.
Love the examples! awesome review thank you!

thanks for all this informations, it's a very useful video.
Best review so far!!!
Awesome vid now I know the route I’m taking it’s a 5 & karma for me
Awesome review man!!

I was wondering if I should upgrade from Hero4 to the Hero5 well... Thank you Mark, I know now what I have to do...

I am a fan of Adorama since 2010 and especially to you Mark Wallace :) would appreciate if you have some review on GoPro7
Thankyou that was a very informative video on the gopro just the info i need great
thanks for video and captions for the deaf, thanks for comparing the grips.
Show, thanks end happy new year!
nice seeing you are in Frankfurt

Awesome video!
i love your videos. it's simple

Awesome video ...
Great Speech 👌
Great video , especially on the audio, as this has been something that people complain about, but don't seem to attempt any solution.
Thank you for a nice video! ! !
Great presentation and info Mark, Thank you.

I like the way all the people walk past while your talking to yourself and they don't even notice.
great video! give me some idea to think about the karma grip
We can try to do our best to make the Best presentations, a job well done. I have held off with Future sales for GoPro FISH
Bought the cheapy GoPro Hero 7 White to just get into action cams. Folks said to go backwards to these earlier higher end models if I like my 7 White.
Thank you for the great video. Question: What's the stabilization like on GoPro Hero 4 with the Karma Grip? Thank you again.
Nice video really helpful !
Great Video. I own a Karma Drone with the grip and hero6. What MicroSD cards do you recommend using? Thanks in advance
I have the same setup. The Sandisk Extreme Plus 64GB works great for me.

debating between DJI Osmo and Hero 5 with Karma Grip
thoughts?
Great video.
The solution is "Instamic" 😉
good job for this video you won a follower
Avant d'acheter notre Karma Grip, on avait regardé ta vidéo, maintenant on l'utilise pour faire des vidéos de notre voyage en Australie ;)
Really thinking to get a karma grip...
Great info
Thank you so much. It helped a lot.
How about set the audio to stereo when karma grip is on? I cannot do it, it not allows.
Thanks!
Great info thanks. Really sad about the external mic feature for karma grip. Do you recommend a different gimbal that allows for external mic use?
Is it possible for the karma grip to charge in powerbank while it is in use? Thank u
I bought this combo in 2020 - because also cheaper and also in comparison, the gimbal is still smoother than hero 8
Awesome advice.
Saw you guys at NAB this past year.
Mark,
Is that the setup you use when riding Bike? Your voice sounds very good even when wearing your helmet.
I've been meaning to ask you for ages, but I always forget.
This video reminded me.
very intresting !
Does GoPro Hero 5 has also good video quality?
*honest reply please*
*Thank you in advance.*
I guess no need.
I am surely gonna buy this gimbal and hero5 as soon as I have a budget.
what stabilization software are you using?
With the proper way of holding the Karma grip, will it still work on a back pack while walking? If so do you have a picture of how it should fit? Thank you so much
Jayne yes it works mounted on a backpack strap. GoPro sells the karma in a package with the drone that comes with a backpack and karma mount just for exactly this.
Does anyone know what camera and mic was used to record this review?
super useful video, good to know since I got mine coming next week. $190 canadian on eBay. Wheeew
Guys, do I have to buy the Karma Drone or I just can but this Grip only?
Farah Yazid You can buy the grip only if you want to
with karma grip you have image stabilization ON ? because it auto turns off but you can turn it back on.
Jim Hat It automatically turns off on the hero 6 not on the hero 5
Lol random comment: I got so distracted by your location because that's where I've lived for a loooooong time :-)
Grip losing orientation in motorcycle ride is nice finding
LOL. Was trying to change settings on my HERO5 while listening to your video and each time you said a recognizable voice command, it listened to you and kicked me out of the screen I was on. Now whose your master....
Nice video.
However I never need to recalibrate my Karma grip

GoPro 5 DOES have an Accelerometer in it.
Can someone buy the GP stabilizer without buying the drone?
David Key yes of course you can just buy the grip only

Interesting. Maybe is not the best option to use a professional mic.

id shave
looks like hero 9 do not need a karma grip
They are just too expensive
?
The hero6 is better
Dead WRONG! The Hero 4 Silver is WAY better than 5!
Not even close.
