To all those who wrote off Big Big Train after the departure of such excellent musicians as Danny Manners, Rachel Hall and Dave Gregory and the sad, unexpected passing of David Longdon. This is exquisite from start to finish with rich harmonies, superb musicianship and brilliant sound production. Alberto, Oskar and Clare have fitted into the new line-up seamlessly
agreed... so lovely with how she adds the violin.. staying true to the songs and yet she can rip on it when need be, and her voice melds with the others so well. She will be missed
From the central U.S. I was introduced to BBT through the Grrman internet radio station, Progman. I am glad I happened to listen the day the played East Coast Racer. I was hooked. I wished I could have seen this band "live".
@@randysmith4331 - Seems like BBT had found the right formula over the last 5-6 years with adding Danny Manners, Rachel Hall and Dave Gregory. Sure, the remaining members are still very talented. But it will never sound the same anymore...

@@solesurvivor6514 Sad to see the end of this part of the story. The mix, musicians and influences were magnificent. I'm sure the latest slimmed down version will be great. But this line-up was the flowering. Dave, Danny and Rachel will be greatly missed for the rock/pop/jazz/folk flavours. The many herbs and spices made for a subtle blend. I am afraid it will be reduced. Hope to be wrong..
Rikard's smile says everything about this magnificent band!! What a joy it must be to play these amazing uplifting feel good tunes with these musicians! David was truly brilliant,a big big loss to everyone..hope they carry on sometime in the future!

Absolutely sublime! On the premiere in Edinburgh when Rachel started singing Hedgehoppers' chorus I was a blubbering mess...so emotional....still there's something in the eye when I watch this....she'll be sorely missed that's for sure... ❤️
Long time prog fan here who only recently discovered BBT. This is the first time I've heard this particular track and I am utterly utterly blown away ! Just keep doing what you are doing BBT, you have something so very precious!.
Big Big Train sound engineering is one the best I've heard. You can hear Rachel on the left, Dave on the middle, Nick on the right. All the instruments sounds so crisp. The tone on Nick's drums is spot on as always. The voices are expertly mixed. Big Big Train is the main reason I decided to start with high end audio equipment, to squeeze all out of Big Big Train albums. I haven't been disappointed once.
So sad to hear Rachel has left the band. This is a band so on the cusp of greatness and 2020 wasn’t kind to BBT. She was such an integral part of the band but sometimes a little sidelined instrumentally - I’d liked to have seen such an exceptional player given more room to solo. The band are all of exceptional quality but I would say give all solo instruments a little more room.
Live performance is much more interesting than Studio!!! And yes, in the context of Rachel's departure from the band, it's so similar to her Swan song :(
I absolutely loved it when they played this, especially the ending, but they did it too early in the set. Ever since I feel like I've spent too many hours under the ground. But back at the Hackney Empire is where you will find me, out of it, waiting for the next chance to see BBT.

Also enjoyed the other songs you made available here on YT from this show, and I really want to see the whole of it. I understand there was a video production of the show, up for sale in Blue Ray format, but I don't own such devices and am left wishing you could find a way to offer it somehow for streaming. Maybe for Christmas?
Pursue a career in healthcare after spending most of the year working in an assisted living facility. If you are on the BIg Big Train Facebook group, she posted a video there explaining it.

I've only just learned that the singer died in the Autumn last year. Really sorry to hear that. Rikard Sjoblom has been waisted in this band so far though. Maybe BBT will give him the space to thrive now that they have lost their front man.
While the Longdon picture on the cover of this Empire release looks great, I feel this is a little stab in the back, and disrespect, for the rest of the band. Longdon on the front and the back cover - on the 2 CDs - on the blue ray... Seems a bit overdone, if you ask me.

It was a fantastic performance of Hedgerow by the band at Edinburgh. Really well received by the crowd. Rachel's solo on violin was something special.
