Awesome footage at Nias. Loved the angle, especially the ones taken from in the water and seeing the coconut palm tree beach roll along in the background as the waves rolled by. Actually very unique footage. And loved just the wave sounds! Would love to see the longer version of this same footage.
Especially when it's your turn..... and your bros are yelling, expecting you to go! GOo, go, go....yahooooo, make or break, chance em! Aloha from Hawaii MK. Cheeeeee huuuuu!
I really don't think it matters. Anytime the waves start getting over that 10 foot mark...... It's gonna be brutal. 12 foot Puerto Escondido, Sunset, Lanikai, Cloud Break, .... and Nias.... All are the same. 12 foot and "loobing" is a completely different sport than 6 foot and under..... Theres 50x more water in these waves than a typical 15 foot face point break. At the time, it sucks. But later, you feel just as proud of those beat downs as the 6 feet behind the lip tubes you made.
I was just thinking, a goofy foot out making right barrels in waves that are eating regular foot chargers for dinner. Imagine that guy at giant Mullaghmore!
One place i regret never visiting. Couple of good mates would go in the 80s and 90s and always rave about how good it was. They still go but head out to other islands and surf huge spots to get away from the crowds.
Amazing waves, focus, clarity, but water angle camera shake is pretty jarring.... Maybe shoot at 2x resolution and stabilize in post? Or use a tripod or something. Viewing full screen on a large monitor is almost unwatchable.
Does malaria, hepatitis and dysentery count? The pioneers in the 70's and 80's ???? Big balls. The place is very fickle. You could wait weeks in tropical misery for a few good days or NONE. p.s. That boat was abandoned.

Wow, Amazing dude. Are u in nias right now for Join Nias Pro 2023?
Xavi is a beast!!!! omg so glad you guys connected there!
Grandeed ❤
Crazy waves and epic barrels. The goofy is @Xavi Lucena 🔥
He was charging!
Really appreciate how "underproduced" this is. It lets the waves and rides speak for themselves to portray just how epic it is.
Thanks a lot Jason! Raw is the key! Music gives these edits a false vibe..

awesome, this wave looks so much gnarlier filmed from the water position compared to the drone shots
Thanks man glad you enjoyed it! Yes even the land angle is not showing how heavy it is! Boat angle is the best!
And in lagundy it has always been....
@@ugocdf7706 boat didn't get barreled this time! haha
God that looks heavy.
And open too!
I'm afraid just watching this. This is basically a horror film lol
@@tims6582 especially if you are backside there, it all really depends on your ability and the waves you choose
Some intense late drops and deep barrels. The land view shows the wave in all of its glory as it starts to hit the reef. Great footage and surfing!
Uhhh, nagyon komoly nap! Nagggyon komoly erő volt ezekben a hullámokban, congrats to eveyone who tried especially those who could pull out!
Liked that slow-mow scene of the breaking wave at the very end of this video 🤙
GO XAVI LUCENA!!!!!!!
🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
Grandeee ❤
awesome footage
Qué crack el goofy... haciéndose un nombre Xavi
Unique angle mate! Keep it up!
Diky boss ,hope you scored the mentawais!
Awesome Barrels!!!
A spot that gets less dangerous when it get bigger. Goes from certain death to almost certain death. Boy are those guys good.
Sick !
Hats off to everyone in the video! What a session!
Respect to these chargers. Especially the ones that expected to not make it but went anyway because there was a chance.
Especially when it's your turn..... and your bros are yelling, expecting you to go! GOo, go, go....yahooooo, make or break, chance em! Aloha from Hawaii MK. Cheeeeee huuuuu!
Can't make any barrels you don't pull into...sometimes you eat the barr and sometime dude, he eats you.
This from someone who makes a lot less than he pulls into.
Perfection
🤙🤙
Looks heavy, especially with the sand in the waves
Thick as too.
What a freaking INSANE wave Nias is!
hellyeah!🤟
Nias is the heaviest, biggest hold-down I’ve had in my 53 years of surfing!
Fair enough,I believe you!

🤘🤘
I'm intensely impressed by the backside moment at 1:48.
So critical, yet surfed in about the chillest possible way.
Hes got a cool channel here , Xavi Lucena, from Spain .
@@yorimoriarty4684 I'm checking it out! Very cool!

@@XaviLucena how long was the hold downs? For study reasons
Wow that is one cave. That crew is strong with their wave.
最高😁👍
Thanks man for watching!
Wow
Scary 😬
💣🌊💣🌊💣🌊
Too hard to watch those water shots, the camera needs a stabilizer to offset the shaking

Thanks for your advice and thanks for watching! Big swell loads of water moving, not easy to shoot closeups steady from the boat in the channel. ✌️
That's mother nature at its finest
Perfect for my moonraker
God what a wave dude I would have to paddle for a couple months and really psych to feel confident but darn she fine
Great but please more full speed/less slo'mo.
Only last wave was slow Mo for the credits, the rest is real time!😃
Ngapain ke Hawai di NIAS besar ombaknya nomor tiga di dunia. Mantap , Yahobu...!
Your mom should be proud!
Haha thanks man
Such a short wave but at least the whole time your in the tube. Never have hit it yet. More if a g land guy being
🤙🌈🙏💖
Where is NIAS?
Secret 😉
north Sumatera , Indonesia
Cameras with really good motion control exist these days.
The boat only scores 6.2
It made it out of the barrel this time!
Haha yeah fair enough!🤣
Best barrel in Indo on days like these.
Such a beauty also to shoot! Thanks for watching!
Sumatra Utara INIAS INDONESIA .
If they do keep this goofy final 5 format, this is the kind of waves the World Championship should be held in. Not fucking Trestles.
Hellyaa!
A goofy foot
Not a novices prerogative.
Has anyone died there. I know a boat did.
