I trained with this squadron in '83 while it was under the leadership of Commander Hank Kleeman. A helluva man and leader. I miss this old bird. The memories will be with me forever!
Back in 1990 I went to a Coworkers house we both worked for the airlines. It was in Howard Beach Queens NY when I was about to ring his door bell the Concord was taking off and the neighborhood was quite and then the ground started shaking and it got loud and every car and house that had an alarm on went off! It's was EPIC!!
Hey, P. O. 3...you forgot to tell them about your Daily And Turnaround Inspections...dont forget that you were a Junior Mechanic...working as a Crew Chief!!!! God Bless! Been There and Done That!
The Tomcat sounded like no other aircraft. In person it was really an experience that imprinted itself on you. The only thing I've seen that bested it was a B-1 in full burner.
Holy Shit I haven’t seen Her move like that in A Long Ass time !, well only on Internet Now 💔. I’m sure Just like Concord we’ll see something like it Or Resembles them
I really wish, someway and somehow, for US Navy to bring the Cats back on the decks of the aircraft carriers! With a few aerodynamic and electronic upgrades, these Cats will still dominate the global oceans as an interceptor.
to expensive. To expensive to keep old battered airframes flying. To expensive to upgrade those old airframes. It was allready an expensive airplane to maintaine, so that would be to expensive. Their pretty large, not able to fly of of every deck, so limited there. It was a great airplane with also a lot of downsides to it. Bringing them back is just way to expensive.
@@spacedigger There are no "old battered airframes" left. They've all been destroyed, dismantled, and demolished into scrap heap. If you can find any around let us know. Where have you been? So there's nothing left to MAINTAIN, and there's nothing TOO expensive left to upgrade. Just a few are left in museums, they're all gone, so what the heck are you talking about? And even though THEY'RE pretty large they in fact could fly OFF of any deck, they weren't limited, so what the heck are you talking about? Can you give us an example of what deck or what carrier you're talking about, that the F-14 couldn't take OFF from? The F-14's are retired for a good reason, they were maintenance hogs, and there was no sense in upgrading them. F-18's can do just about anything that the F-14 could do and aren't as expensive. They also require a lot less maintenance. Not to mention that the Navy was getting the F-35C so that pretty much ruled out the F-14. So do yourself a favor and stop making stuff up.
Not an expert, but maybe it has something to do with the whole leading edge/intake configuration that makes the whine...I would like to know, as well..
@@MarksUselessChannel Yeah I guess just the Shape of the intakes with the Air rushing through, It's also a curiosity if the Nozzle Actuators made a noise like the F-16s and 15s do but doesn't seem like it :/
A beautiful machine with so many opportunities for updating when it was unfairly chopped for political reasons. So she was flying with a mini-Betamax recorder; HUD that looks like an old Pong game; and dodgy engines that were always meant to be temporary until proper ones came along. They were even looking at thrust vectoring and some low-observable tweaks were available. What a shame the money grubbing politicians killed her future.
This is incredible! Sure wish the pilot had a better viewing, it looks ALOT like his viewing screen is an old pong game system. Would hope he had a screen that was in color and updated.
That's just glass on the dashboard purposely placed in the pilot's regular field of view with info like attitude and bank angle, maybe speed and altitude depending on what that particular pilot wants shown. What's in this video is the feed from a black and white camera on the dash looking through the same glass (heads up display-HUD) and it's used to debrief flights, liability, etc. It's recorded "proof" of what the pilot is seeing through the front windshield. he actually mentions the location of the tape the HUD cam is recorded on about 2/3 through the program.
Dick Cheney killed the Cats. For the not so great f35. The only plane which doesn't exist to take its place would be a naval variant f22! But no we put all our eggs in the f35 basket mediocre at best!
Your gonna have to not only no the sounds of the birds @ your gonna need alpine sound systems! Your gonna need buy sounds to know exactly who who and or what is going on
Guy! The Pentagon has installed 5g air sound systems in your F-14@ now youl actually be able to see at night full vision! Tell couch let's train! Tell him to get behind you in a mig
"The ground shook, car alarms went off, and babies started crying! It was a good show."
Gotta love it!
RIO - I keep the pilot honest.
Pilot - I don’t need a RIO.

Still calling her an F-14A+ Oold video. Thanks for sharing it. Miss her sound and smell.
I remember this show. It was so amazing to see a Tomcat demo (and airshow) over a municipal airport.
Flight school isn't a bunch of movies! It's not about being a hero on TV@ it is about being a team! Now this gets a little complicated
6:33 Holy shit it's Maverick. No one's ever been this close before.
Strange fact. The tail insignia for VF-101 of the flying grim reaper was created and drawn by Walt Disney.
so beautiful

Awesome! 👍✈️
Bring back a couple squadrons of Ds. Badass plane. Tomcat rule!

They need to bring that beautiful plane back, with updated avionics and weapons systems it will reign supreme.
The Tomcat sounded like no other aircraft. In person it was really an experience that imprinted itself on you. The only thing I've seen that bested it was a B-1 in full burner.

You will be made to know the sounds of every enemy motor! Youl know when she's climbing and youl know when she decents
Imagine flying alone in 42! You gotta know that motor! Ya gotta know the sounds of that motor

There aren't any left! Sadly, even those at AMARG have either been turned into "Gate Guards" at a base or museum or broken down for scrap!
They need major electronic upgrades
+Captain Canada it's a push-pull rod flying machine there never were that many electronics. in my opinion F-14 to F-16 was a transition to fly by wire

It's a hugh aircraft 😳 I belive it's slightly bigger than the F-15 Eagle, which is quite a big aircraft.
Patrick P The F-15E is bigger
The F-14 is longer than the F-15.

We did that buy sounds! We crank up the tunes intell we engage
I wish they would have given the F-14 the kind of love the F-15 just got instead of retiring it
It's not as good a plane as the f-15

Kenny logins, decent song for a far fetched movie.
Why does your thumbnail show the jolly Rodgers logo if these are the grim reapers🤨

So, they had Napoleon Dynamite do the airshow commentary?

Migs sound a little more high pitched
sad they were dis-established in 2005
Not really, they're machines, and they're outdated & to expensive to fly and maintain
